With answer to Tigermaster1986 it's called respect for possibly the greatest guitarist on the planet today.I have been to 4 J.B. concerts all have been seated arenas and the fans have been what you might call like myself a little on the older side. It's no as if people are not enjoying it they are, but if you haven't been to one of his shows they you won't understand. You listen to Joe Bonamassa and enjoy his shows.
That was the most ....ummm...uh, humm......OMG, there is not even a word for what just happened there. I'm literally speachless. Well, except to say, that Joe must be one hell of a negotioator, because in recent memory only one other blues guitarist comes to mind who gambled and won that level of talent at the crossroads. A lone star genius whose name and music goes on forever.
Way to go Joe...now stay out of helicopters and light aircraft. We want you to be around for a long time.
Eric Clapton (arguably one of, if not the greatest "living" guitarist) said that joe is the greatest guitarist alive today. Just saying. Pretty good vote of confidence :)
I was very fortunate to see Joe in Vancouver B.C. last month , travelled from Northern Alberta to catch this concert . Thats when I found that this wasn't a concert !!!!! This was a f#*@ing experience !! I will be catching the experience again !! I still get the shivers when I watch the vids !!
@ikravchik I don't know where you say he can't play hard core blues....you obviously haven't listened to enough of his stuff to know...take a listen to his Blues Delux CD...tributes to everyone from Robert Johnson to BB King...
@ikravchik I can't believe you said that like it's a bad thing! I love SRV just as much as you. but none said that Bonamassa is just a blues player. he can play a LOT of different genres, and bloody well that is. Blues is one of them.
I saw him last night here in Phoenix. While this solo isn't exactly what he played last night, it has similar elements. My impression is that it's very Pete Townshend/Who inspired. I've seen Pete do a similar kind of thing on an acoustic, mainly pounding away on an open string and throwing in chords on top of it. Does anyone else agree?
My wife and I will see Joe for the 9th time this Thursday in the Houston area....If you love great guitar music, then you have to see this guy when he comes to your town....I was a convert from the time I read an article on him in Cruiser magazine. He had opened for Peter Frampton and had all but stole the show...I figured if he could hold his own with someone like Frampton....Lord knows he converted me... he is just like Johnny B. Good...He can play that thing like ringing a bell..
@jlhilbert1 I have only see him twice. One of my favorites. Just wondering, does he change up his shows. I just saw him in Clearwater...very same show I saw last year in Melbourne..just a few changes.I knew what was coming next...
@rillyhat14 did you see them, most of them are older, i have been to 4 shows and its a older crowd (im 25) like late 40s-late 50s, and then the in-between. But its definitely one of the best shows ive ever been to.
this guys alright but hes got timing issues tommy emmanuel for acoustic guitar all day set a metronome next to tommy and the metronome will get of beat before him
@newlanguage124 If you want perfect timing, a metronome will do it for you every time. If you want feel, tone, soul and that certain 'something', then this should do it for you. Tommy Emmanuel is doubtless an outstanding guitarist - I love his work. Bonamassa plays electric, primarily - not acoustic, like Tommy.
@musiclover9361 as a musician myself i dont usually compare but was just havin a bad obviously hes doin something right cause hes famous so i def respect your anwser
I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:
1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!
He woulda been huge in the '60s and '70s. Look at the way Clapton looks at him as they play Further On Up The Road. He's definitely one of the greatest guitarists ever. But the music industry -- and the public's taste -- has turned to pre-chewed bubblegum on heel of a shit-stained Croc.

What a great concert! Last night at Hard Rock Cafe, unbelievable! 12-10-2010-in Hollywood,Fla.-USA -He jammed on this same guitar! Young man blue's was great too!
Saw him do something very similar last night in Melbourne FL. . WOW..the only acoustic song he did but the best of the show. Take the time to listen to this....really.
omg in a smaller place in sweden i saw this dude, and from the part at 1:35 the swedish crowd where sick , we where seriously jumping and screaming and shit....
