  • this movie is one of the greatest movies i have even seen. some parts even made me almost cry one thing i didnt like was that they added something that didnt need to add just the original book was just enough

  • years from now, whenever disney makes a live-action movie adaptation of winnie the pooh, it should be directed by spike jonez and john lassetter! i am 15 and i am hoping to get into the computer animation business in my adulthood, and possibly be a director for such a film!

  • Spike jonze is the man, this is why the director went to him, because he can literally make anything high quality and VERY meaningful

  • Beautiful, daring adaptation. Hadn't read the book prior, but read it after. The movie supports my idea of what a good children's movie should be; exposing in stead of hiding, disarming what is dangerous. Also highly imaginative, I think kids never should be sheltered from the dark, as long as the moral comes through, I think the conflicts in the film are not too complicated for kids to understand. Also, music and visual concept fantastic, it truly captured the boldness of being a young child.

  • sigh.. its really hit or miss it seems..

how did i see it? pretty much the feeling of dealing with someone who is either bipolar or going through a breakup and cries on your shoulder for about 2 hours...

it was just soo... awkward.. the part where he rips the guys arm off was slightly terrifying.. it was so sudden and dark.. it made me feel like i wasnt watching a child's film anymore.. more like the mind of a depressed mental patient.

all in all.. disturbing.. but people like that i guess..

  • Do you think I would like this if I liked Coraline, Nightmare Before Christmas, Series of Unfortunate Events, Spirited Away, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Fractale, and the Never-Ending Story? Does this movie have good character development?

  • this movie was terrible it was compleatly boring everything was the same do NOT rent this movie it is a waste of time and a peice of garbage verry verry boring 1 out of 5

  • gotta say that the movie was INCREDIBLE, i suggest everyone watches it.

And the movie is seen as "disturbing and unpleasant" because it explores ideas that people associate with being "taboo", childhood psychology, yes its a dark movie but the ending was one of the best ive ever seen. i actually got quite emotional, and it was very worth it.

  • @convictPKlol it is a peice of garbage

  • @spotman30 well feel free to spread your hate to someone who gives a shit

  • Me and my two friends went to go see this when i was in sixth grade. We all liked the book but the kid and the wild things were all to anger and depressing. Overall we thought the movie was boring and really dark. People gashped when the guy gut his arm ripped off. Give it a 7

  • I found this film disturbing and unpleasant. Definately not a kids film, way too dark i think. Im shure the books amazing though and good effort. Brilliant soundtrack.

  • I didnt enjoy this film at all. It was like i kept missing parts the way it skipped scenes. One min there in the jungle, then a desert! I didnt really see a moral either, just my opinion anyway...

  • Where The Wild Things Are is one of my favorite movies.

  • how can anyone not like this movie?

  • @smoketunes how can anyone like it

  • The movie was a waste of my time but the songs I did enjoy.

  • only thing i enjoyed was the song

  • AMAZING that's all I can say 9.5-10

  • I liked It.

  • This movie disappointed me, this was my favorite book as a child, and it just didn't do it justice.

  • watch complete edition associated with this particular movie here in avatz ... net change ... to .

  • No. I hated the movie. It was extremely boring, dark and it was disturbing for young kids. If I had kids, I would not take them to see this movie. Spike Jonze did a terrible job at adapting, They should have made it where there was a quest ot reclaim the island.

  • @Flapjack818 that has nothing to do with the book,

  • @Flapjack818

Your saying that this movie is a bad adapation (personally I think Jonze captured the themes and tone perfectly), yet your suggesting that it should have had a totally different story? Major fail.

  • @123rockfan

Well the book wasn't much of a story in the first place, so they really could've tweaked it up alot. But you are right with my idea being stupid.

  • I loved that movie SO much!!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved That F*****G movie!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they say its not a kid movie but id feel gay just thinking of buying a ticket

  • this girl is stupid, and everyone else who thinks its a kids movie. spike jonze even said in an interview,"i didnt write a kids movie, i wrote a movie about childhood." and it turned out awesome.

  • scary, yet incredibly accurate, and portrays a childs mental state and reaction to the problems they face in the world very accurately. i wouldnt reccomend taking anyone under the age of 8 or 9 to go see it though. but the story and script is smart, funny, dark, and happy all at the same time, and honestly its like watching a beautiful work of art in motion.

  • i watched maybe a little more than half of this movie today and i can say after seeing the ending and what looks like the majority of the plot twists and such, it was one of the most imaginative and creative movies i have EVER experienced. what they did with the little material they were given from the book was beyond amazing, and the way that it delves into the psychological aspects of childhood is genius, almost scarily so. the real world depictions of childhood psychological issues is dark..

  • I've seen the movie. I think it was great, but was kinda dark for a children's film. But you know, you still need to give credit for film's difference.

  • This movie reminded me so much of myself as a kid when I ran to the forest and build a tower out of sticks and rocks so I would give it a 9.5/10.

  • Fuck EMO!!!

  • @psychopits Yes fuck emotions! We don't need them!

Great movie by the way :)

    Worth watching and buying.

  • @toyy7675 nahhh i didint like the movie... it was stupid... all it was was a emo kid who wont let his mom get fucked.... who was fuckin hot.....it was lame..

  • @psychopits I admit the movie was weird..i don't quite understand it but its not a bad move tho.

One thing is sure tho, the kid seemed to want atencion and since he did not know how he behaved like a brat.

His mother got mad and well the rest we all know at least if you did watch the whole movie and not just the beginning.

  • @toyy7675 ehh i just didint like it.... all i know is... HALO HALO HALO IN 2 DAYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YEAHHHHH FUCK YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!!

  • @psychopits Uh..okay?

  • @toyy7675 mmm lol srry... i just love me some halo.. lol hehehehehehehe n its comein out on monday at middnight... n im GANA GET IT FUCK YEAHHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @psychopits Good for you :) Think i saw the trailer the new halo might be worth trying out.

  • @toyy7675 dude 8hrs for that shit..... hahahahahahahahaha....

  • @psychopits 8hrs?

  • @toyy7675 i was w8ting 8hrs in line for reach to come out... i know im a loser lol

  • @psychopits Nahh just eager :)

  • The movie was highly metaphorical and required a lot of reading between the lines. This is the kinda ting that I personally, really like. I can understand how some people wouldn't like it though, it's a "I watch movies to be entertained, not to make me think" kinda thing, which is perfectly okay. This movie is only good for certain people, and a big bore fest for others. I gave it a 4/5, Because I feel an 8/10 is to low, but a 9/10 is a litttle high.

  • great coming to age movie good for older kids and young adults, wish i was a kid when this came out, lucky bastards, i give it a 10 =)

  • Nice green scarf guy.

  • Overall a despressing movie :I

  • omg i hate how she speaks its tooo much!!

  • My Favorite Movie <3

  • 5 out of 4 people have a problem with fractions!

    lol?

  • Does no one else know the undertone to this film?

  • I was not fully impressed when i saw it.

It didn't seem like much was accomplished for Max znd I'm guessing that towards the end of making the movie they had to throw something together in a hurry

  • I hate this movie more than anything in the world, the director needs to be tied to a chair with hiz eyelids taped open and forced to wash hiz trash until he begs for death, but he will only be forced to watch it over and over and over again. :) bahahaha.

  • can this woman say anything WITHOUT sounding overly sarcastic? She's sooooo annoying!

  • this movie is so deep in the take of the chile phsyce

  • this movie was just amazing at the end it just made me cry when he was in the boat and they said bye its was just such a realistick and an emotional movie

  • Can't believe some of you guys thought the movie was pointless. Did you even listen to what some of the people were saying in the video?

  • The movie isn't bad. Many of you guys just think it is bad because it doesn't have a lot of action. There are different types of movies and this one just wasn't the type of movie you like

  • @NinjaBoomer100 From the many reviews that I read to this movie (yes I know the book is short) people disliked because of 1. its overly dark and frightening 2 it isnt for children to have fun in unlike the book itself was happy.

  • I'm an adult and I enjoyed, Cloudy with a chance

  • Did anyone else notice the one big monster that bairly said anything go from human feet to monster feet in one scene when Max was drawing the plan for the fort? It's baffled me....Help Please?

  • @kMolly7 He always had human feet, just like the drawing in the book

  • this movie was amazing even if you are a adult cuz the is a great story in it!

  • This movie was hilarious, should be called 'Where the riled things are" because its about a bunch of monsters with huge social problems who constantly pick at each other and make each other feel bad. , I suggest everyone watch it just for the lulz, but its not that great just hilarious.

  • Go Movie World . com - it's free here

  • i love the neverending story lol hated this though :)

  • this was terriable im a kid myself and it made me wanne hang myself it was ugh UGH 0/10 ugh BAD

  • fucking great!

  • Made me cry incredibly sad but brilliant.

10/10 most definatially but not for kids.

  • This had creepy child music. Kids love this movie, they love to watch socatic kids. But the water horse was too scary?

  • ashame this movie did not make its budget and that is what most people care about so it did not get the attention it needed after the release

  • very sophisticated, a lot of emotional conflict, those on the more primitive side should stay away. if you shield your child from depressing things and well ...reality... then it is not a good idea to take them to see this.

  • @SurrenderT0Squirrel Lol this movie was about a handful of psychotic neurotic manic depressive monsters, and a naive kid who tries to fix their never ending social problems, problems the movie suggests he also goes through with his mom and crap. Freaking weird and if your reality and social life is like this movie than thats really hilarious lol ur life sucks

  • I actually cried during the movie

  • I remember when I was little I used to love that book!

  • My favorite childhood book got ruined by this boring movie

  • i think the movie was too scary and boring for kids and too pointless and still boring for everyone else

  • @Nixom1334 agreed, i fell asleep.

  • @xheartlessx3 me too, i know it relates to his life and all, but some stuff was just stupid and most of the movie was just someone turning on the kid for a few minutes.

  • I didn't like this movie, my 7 year old daughter was on shock when the arm cuts offs and couldn't sleep the whole night, it was very violent and dark.. not a movie for kids..

  • i really hated this movie it was just...stupid

  • i seizured from watching this lol

  • wow that movie sucked i mean yea the guys arm comes off and they repace it witha stick eww

  • I saw that movie

    It was increddibly sad

    My sister couldn't stop crying

  • one word review: SADFACE!

  • i like the book

  • really bad movie nuff said

  • its not bad because its dark but because the movie is god damb crazy

  • i just saw this movie

i got my heart ripped out

    in a good way

  • Sounds to me like most of the people giving it a bad rap were expecting an action type, kids movie, with toilet humor, and the works. I haven't seen it yet, but from the way people describe it (even the whiners) it sounds good to me.

  • this movie made me wanna shove my head in the toilet and flush. there was nothing amazing about it. it is just hairy beasts and rottenness. i only watched the first 40 minutes.

  • k I don't get how anybody could possibly think this movie was good. WHAT THE FUCK??!!! shittiest movie ever made, ever. No plot, messages were fuckin pointless, the kid was portrayed as the biggest brat ever, the dialogue didn't fit the monsters, the soundtrack was boring and annoying, and most of all the writers just tried too hard. so shit. absolute shit

  • had me longing for the parking lot,

  • I liked it a lot. Very nice movie, very deep too.

  • im a kid and it was to deep and artsy for kids plus it was realy... boering

  • "Children's movies bore me to death," said Maurice Sendak. I totally agree. I think he's proud of this movie upsetting everyone.

I don't see a difference in kids and adults; adults whine just as much.

  • @harassed09 Where The Wild Things Are is not a kids movie.

  • wow, didn't expect to be boring and so depressing, and i aggree with some other reviews about watching kids having was annoying, however there was a deep message but not enough enjoy this film- overated, sorry

  • @progressivesou1 totally agree.

  • I didn't like this movie. Don't get me wrong It was gorgeous but the story was almost non-existant, and i was bored throughout the entire thing. the only reason i watched all the way through was because i was on a plane and had nothing better to do.

  • omfg i fucking love this movie best movie ever.. even bette than transformers!!! <3

  • This movie looks happy but it's not the kid has problems the monsters have problems cmon

  • interesting but it seemed to rebellious and really covered it's good values with a whole lot of negative energy and bad morals

  • i loved the movie it wasn't exactly to the attention span of little children but if you appealed to the book than you will like it just as much as you like butter on toast

  • at 2:54 ew.... good choice of a scene to show in a kids movie

  • FUCK THAT MOVIE BURN IT PLEASE!

  • lol i agree

  • did everyone forget that this was rated pg-13???? it wasn't made for children....

  • It's PG not PG-13 you idiot.

  • The movie was so full of emotion, I was speechless still after 2 hours of watching the movie, just, what the f***.

  • kinda sad...

  • Arms got ripped off ? lol thats great come on Timmy lets go se Where the wild things are

  • Spike did better than Michael Bay would.

  • I can do it better than Michael Bay would.

  • i liked that movie and yes, Spike Jonze did a good job

    3 and a half out of 5

  • This movie is so depressing i read it when i was little

  • I think that the movie, like the book was sort of an allegory type thing. Like the guy said in the video, it represents being a kid. I thought the movie was abstract but a bit odd, but now that I think about it there was a deeper message hidden.

  • merry christmas !!

  • why the hell are people reviewing this movie so well?

i thought this was the worst movie i have ever watched...

i LITERALLY started to sleep half way.

  • it is getting good reviews because it uses symbolism and a fantasy land to show childhood emotions that many people who watched it forgot. I personally loved it, and I cried, but it was beautifully done.

  • i read the book when i was a kid and i liked it now im 15. but i dont remember any arm getting ripped off lol somebody please tell me how that happens

  • This movie was fantasitc - it played with your emotions the way childhood innocence does. Visually, it was stunning. Theatrically, it was beautifully done. I'm not sure why people would suggest that this is a childrens movie - as many of the themes are darker and, albiet, cynical - but it was fantastic for all ages regardless. My younger cousin loved it to bits.

  • @bucketoftsuki it was fucked up. gay

  • i thought the movies imagination was amazing and the emotion great i thought the movie was an instant classic in my eyes a 9 out of 10

  • movie links on:

    WATCHONLlNEM0VIESNOW. net

  • Awesome movies.

  • This isn't a kid's movie, it's a movie about kids and once you understand that, it becomes a beautiful and heartfelt work of art.

  • haha cool shirt someone said that to me the other day!!!

  • 2/10 kinda sucked yes i have readthe book even my 6 year old sister hated it.

  • THIS MOVIE WAS A PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!! It was pathetic. I think this is the worse fucking movie I ever watched in my life!

  • i havent seen it yet and im not judging you, but did you like Being John Malkovich or Adaptation?

  • huh??? I don't know what or who the fuck you're talking about. It was just what I thought and think when thinking about this movie

  • and im just asking if you liked spike jonze's other movies.

  • I don't think I've watch any other spike jonze's other movies.

  • OMG, worst movie I have ever seen in my 36 years on this planet!!!

  • Hmm, I'm trying to find a decent channel for movie reviews. You know, from professionals? Not from the retards who have just stepped out of the theatre. Any help?

  • Doesn't exist.

  • I have not seen the movie or read the book but I have heard great things about it. I have also been told about how when you are a child you don't quite understand the deeper meaning and as an adult you see the much sadder side of things. I want to see it however I do not want to be extremely sad. But I will be sure to see it once it comes to DVD

  • This movie gets a 10 out of 10!

I went in not really expecting anything, I haven't read the book but I saw the trailer and thought it looked cool; it was such and emotional ride and it was directed really nicely and I actually ended up crying in the end, this movie really sucked me in and I'm so glad I saw it!

  • This movie is a 10.

This movie is mindblowing weather you mind likes it or not!

  • The best that can be said of this film is that the dark and cynical themes of disillusionment will go mostly over the heads of the young audience that will be attracted to it because of the beloved children's book that it is only very loosely based upon. It is incredibly boring, with long expanses of nothing happening, inducing one to want to just leave about every 5 minutes. This violent, twisted, stick-in-place-of-ripped-out-arm film is sick, sick, sick.

  • i hated it....i saw it today...i took a nap like about all through the movie...my favorite part was when the guyz arm got ripped off

  • Me too! I liked walked out of the movie! :(

  • The film was about the that wild thing inside everybody, and how if you don't learn to control it, someone will get hurt.

  • It was friggin creepy. There wasn't really a story, just how the kid screwed up the monsters' lives even more before he left to go home.

  • I saw it a little while ago and I loooved it! I almost cried at the end :(

  • The movie is rather dark and emotional, but I still would give it about 4 stars, maybe 3.5, the monsters were a bit scary through the eyes of a child probably. But it had a huge message that I think was meant for younger children, yet I doubt any younger children were able to comprehend the meaning very well. Perhaps a bit too complex?

  • strange you didnt interview the kids, thats who I really wanted to know who liked it. I didnt like the movie, it was far too boring!

  • why do people want to watch kids having fun and seeing how much you would miss that. Watching all the wild things die. i mean i don't want to die, but this movie really stressed that everything dies. i don't want to be sad and i still want to be a kid. Watching kids have fun is no remedy. i felt depressed and angry throughout the play and that's not at all what i was expecting. I guess since I'm still young i have a completely different view on this movie then the older folks

  • This movie is depressing... It looked like a happy movie but I was dead wrong...

  • due to the story being to deep for children, and there being parts that children shouldn't see, i give it a 7.5/10

  • It was an amazing movie, and I actually cried. Not really for kids, though. 10/10.

  • 10/10 saw it opening weekend and just knew that not everyone was going to 'get' it. judging by the comments below, i was right.

  • I....I was too distracted by your voice to even know what wa going on D:

  • *Sigh*

Middle schoolers...Spurting their dimwitted agenda wherever possible.

    Makes me sad...

  • It's not a popular opinion but I also didn't like the movie. It was group therapy with puppets. Seeing this and Away We Go has me wondering if Dave Eggers is going through an existential crisis. Guess he's got issues he's trying to work out.

  • Where are the wild things?

  • Where the Wild Things Are is such a beautiful movie and not sappy at all. It makes you feel warm inside.

  • spike jonze did a great job on the movie

  • it was a children's book but the movie is very deep and dark and not really a children's movie...

  • You are right, kids are way too stupid to understand anything with a tone different from a pixar film.

If they weren't stupid, why isn't one of them president? Or why do they still shit themselves? lol omg retardedz children.

  • You are 100% wrong. I am a Kid, and I completely understood the Movie. And it was freaking beautiful. And Pixar isn't bad, they're just different kinds of Movies. Pixar is Comedy, and good Comedy at that. "Where the Wild Things Are" is totally different, it's sad, serious, and there is only a few funny parts. Douglas and Alexander (mainly Douglas) but also Judith a bit as well are comic relief. I don't know, that might be true at sometimes and sometimes not.

  • @iCarePenguin I was being sarcastic.

I just get frustrated when adults think kids are stupid, they aren't. I am all for kids seeing where the wild things are, I think it should be required viewing. But yeah, I was only being a smartass...I didn't really mean what I had said.

  • Watch it again when you are about 33y/o and then let us know whether you picked up on all the same subtleties and dark themes now that you will then.
