  • People get bored with a (fighting) game when they dont know squat, jump in, and just lose game after game, knowing the basics and the depth and mechanics of a game makes it all the more enjoyable and gives players more edge!

Thanks guys keep it up! Back to playing T6 !

  • @MegamanEFG Tell that to the majority of online Chreddy/Alia/Lili players!

  • i'm an MK player who has been interested in tekken by association for a little while now. i just bought t6 from games on demand on the xbox 360 and was directed to these videos from the avoiding the puddle stream. i have to say, i learned a whole lot about the game real quick and i can't wait to see more. i loved it even though i had to absorb so much info. great job.

  • I love these guys !! I know that tekken 6 was way back 2009, and my interest for it is way too late too.. but Watching these guys gave me the first step on learning the game clearly. Now I can juggle and etc etc ,, I'm more technical now haha !! THANK YOU GUYS !!

  • learned alot from this whole episode. i love tekken but its easy to get frustrated at, hoping to be good by the time tekken tag 2 comes out. thanks to you guys i may just be.

  • Correction at 0.53. Names Auska not Anna. Just saying! ☺

  • bruce's move doesn't absorb he dodges his opponents punch with his head and hits them with his punch...so bruce isn't taking the puch at all. so it's very different from Wang's. it's a counter just like Nina, Asuka, leo well u get my point.

  • Forgot tech traps

  • Nice video!

Xbox version of this game is BETTER!

Also I recommend you to check this site!

    xbox-for-free.in

  • And you missed the ! attacks.

  • Heihachi's Heaven's Wrath can counter just about all middle and high attacks. Tried Death Slash, Kamikaze, Suicide and Burla.

  • What the fuck? Yo u have to much free time omg tree are so many things wrong with you..

  • "You can't counter knees and elbows".. Thats actually a huge advantage for Leo considering bajiquan, the fighting style the character use, is all about elbows, and if your advanced enough even knees.

  • really really really helpful vids, thx... (Annotation @ 0:52 wrong name: it's asuka, not anna...)

  • can you pleasse do a guide with someone like lee ,im pretty sure im not the only guy who's struggling to master lee :[

  • Absorb moves was in Tekken 5 had it.

And that you skipped that there is Throws that look like 1+2 grabs but needs to be Breaked with 1 or 2.

    but otherwise really nice vids

  • Lol. "Alisa blah blah". "Yeah... she sucks". DAMN RIGHT SHE DOES.

  • good thing thing these vids are enjoyable, otherwise i wouldn't learn a thing..

    great cast :D

Korean > other asian > indian dude?

  • These videos are incredibly useful, im quite new to Tekken, im not too great at juggling, anybody got any advice?..anything would be greatly appreciated!

  • awesome

  • Hey guys i was wandering if u can help me a bit...first how can i customize my rage collor...and second...i didnt get the part with miguel and bruce...can someone plz explain to me how to do that kind of parry??Thnx

  • THIS WAS A GREAT episode and so much was covered in episode one.. You guys really dug for information and went above and beyond what I expected. You went into the deep strategy concept stuff. It is nice to see who is behind IamTekken dot come too lol! i'll be tuning into your podcast Kwon as well. This video was also put together extremely well, the presentation was professional, video editing and the concepts were presented in a very clear manner! Props to you!!

  • I'm new to teken, so this episode ROCKED for me. Too bad the parries arent as effective as in SC though :p

  • Glad........ First time they talked about Yoshimitsu in the Video series :P If they had not told that his Sword sweep was Not Low Parry I would have killed u guys ^.^

Great Job Guys............ Even Pros dont know some stuff you are telling..... :P

  • Absorb counters are now new to tekken 6, fengs f 3+4 absorbed strings in tekken 5 and beyond and added a counter hit in the process. ~~

  • This is a very nice, informative video. Well done, thanks!

  • Some reversals, such as King's b+1+3/2+4, are unchickenable.

  • know any location where they hold tournaments? and can i challange you? :]

  • That vas a very good video. I'll be waiting for more.

  • 5:14 "it did damage the wang right?"

  • great stuff thanks guys

  • 0:54 it's not Anna that got low parried, but Asuka ;D

Awesome explanations guys, thanks and do your best at the next EVO ^^

  • Awesome thank you guyz ~! like video like this haha.

  • You TOTALLY forgot the supercharge! the most worthless mechanic in the game!

  • these 5 parts really helped me alot... i hope i had seen it before. I spent like one month trying to do combos before i understood what is binding and that there is not double binding.... If i had seen it earlier i would have progressed a lot faster. Anyways there are numerous things i learned from this episode and i want to say a big thank you for all these 50 mins you spent in front of the camera (probably another 200 mins at least behind the camera, testing and practicing).

    5 stars & sub/ed

  • Fantastic series you guys are doing! I just decided to get back into Tekken being away since Tekken 3 so this video helps HUGELY! I've been watching events/tourney's the last couple months, but just decided today to actually buy the game and play again.

After shaking loose the cobwebs I came straight to these videos to watch after bookmarking months ago just in case. Thanks a lot, these videos help so much. :)

    Kei

  • You did an excellent job, and I believe that every Tekken fan should see this video to better understand the science behind Tekken. Everything is logical and connected, it's not a mindless game. I don't expect to become a world master just by watching this, but it sure showed me how to practise :) thank you very much, hope to battle you some day (and get my ass kicked).

  • Good stuff. I'm just starting Tekken, this helps a lot. Great job.

  • lolol she has two balls dangling.

  • Levelled up my game! ^^

  • Man on the left is looking for something to eat... xD

  • awesome, i am completely new to tekken, and has learned a lot watching this first episode. subscribed, and keep up the good work.

  • u can actually low parry running low slide kick

  • Comment removed

  • 5/5 episode 1

  • great show i learned alot!!!!!

  • Dats not Anna, dats Asuka, jst in her "Mamoru Nagano" costume!!

  • Great help for new guys like me! When is Episode 2? Keep it up

  • 0:52 It looks better if you call her Asuka instead of Anna... Coz... that really is Asuka.

  • I bet there the real master of tekken, mastering all characters, and owning evrryone.......xD you guys are awesome..

  • Chicccccckkkkkeeeennnnn!!!! :D

  • You roxx guys!

Those videos really are a jewel!

Can't wait for the episode 2

  • 5:20 Not true.. absorb moves were in tekken 5 Feng had them.

  • this is not true because feng has a parry string which activated to a (counter-) hit when the third move of the strings of the opp is parried!!

  • wait!

i realized some characters will execute counter hits during rage, like asuka's db+4,

so sometimes in raged mode i usually use db+4+3 as an air combo launcher.

    can u guys verify this?

    i have no console

  • No. A hit effect may show up on a move that didn't have an effect since Rage makes all moves stronger but Rage doesn't turn moves into counter hits

  • @KNitro123

oh really? i must've seen it wrongly then.. thanks...

  • That would be something though, something really wrong .. or good for a Steve 8D.

  • Good job guy! waiting for EPISODE 2!!!!

  • oh........its not a move

    WHOOOOOOOOOOOT

  • u betta make a new vid or i'm so gonna f+1+2 d/u 3 2+4 b+2+8+773sfs+j U SOOO HARD

  • guys u did awesome on dis vid.

  • are these guys on Tekken 5 as well, I seen a room called level up ur game

  • ahmmm EXCUSE ME

ISNT THAT ASUKA N WHY DID U PUT ANNA LOW KICK?

  • Cool stuff learnt alot. character in depth discussions next please. i wanna know pros and cons of each character. what characters have beastly wall game, good pressuring game, keep out etc etc. be good to know for all us noobs :)

  • I love it. Best in depth descriptions so far. Everything for the most part makes sense. All well explained. Easy to catch on. Hope to see more because these are really good :)

  • This was very informative. I appreciate the hard work put into the production. I come away, having watched this, with a slightly deeper understanding of the systems Tekken employs. I look forward to future episodes.

  • Hey, for GunJack ground break is very handy! I use my B!, then wall breaks and i use it again + add some hits :D its almost 2 normal juggles

  • not wanna complain but i've been encounter this player who plays king and has like 5000 fights but still 4th dan. he only knows one juggle combo and the rest just grab. and he plays this game like a 2D fighter. i mean seriously learn something man....

  • oh and hope more players check this out, so tired of having to play against botton smashers.... or those who know like 4 moves or those who play certain characters and only know how to grab.

  • @lovelion2001 me 2

  • i play all and only the girls ,and alisa, lili, and christie have my highest wining rate, all around 75%. kinda throw me back on that alisa command.... and always hate it when ppl say things about christie.

but good work keep it up.

  • These kids are soooooo asian!

  • time for a new episode!!!

  • Yup

  • Nice!

  • awesome awesome ty so much for this vid!

  • at 0:53, in the annotation, you said Anna's low kick, but she's actually Asuka. lol =P

  • Yep, i saw it too xD

  • Woow, I didn't know that about Asuka Kazama. oo Omg, thank you ! XD Btw, Alisa doesn't sucks! --'

  • hope you guys drop episode 2 soon

  • I am going to be getting this game in a few days and I've always heard this game was very in depth, but I did not expect that. lol. Makes me wonder what exactly I've gotten myself into =p.

Can't help it though, I love fighters but this will be my first 3D fighter! =)

  • im definitely going to subscribe keep up the good work

  • keep up the good work guys!

  • Thanks for the help dudes. But can you tell what the beast move for Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima and Heihachi Mishima for online battles please and thank you?

  • thanks for all the help!

  • christie is much more complicated :(

  • I thought Feng Wei had a "absorb" move back in T5 where he is swinging his hands around in a circle all crazy like (obviously doesn't use Feng Wei)

    And Alisa doesn't suck >:(!!!

  • absorb moves? you mean focus attacks?

  • the knowledge must absorb em all lol...fantastic vid.

  • Its really great of you guys to do this. Lots of times high level fighting game players are too high on their horse to even post something useful in a thread, not to mention going to these lengths.

  • This was extremely helpful! Thanks for all the work!

  • 7:20

So Namco rounds numbers down, even when count the % for the lifebar in T6?

    160 out of 180 = 11.111%

    159 out of 180 = 11.667%

and yet, Rip said it still showed up as 11%

  • As he said, Namco's rounding system is weird science

  • Alisa doesnt suck D: !!!

Seriously though great series keep it up!

  • Alisa doesnt suck D: !!!!!!

    Seriously though great vid

  • After watching the whole episode, i got to admit, it helped me alot.

When it comes to playing Tekken 6 (or any Tekken Game) I lacked defense, because I always rely on my offense. I can block and parry, but my problem is predicting what move he's gonna do next.

Rip, TRUE!, and MYK, you guys made a great and informative episode. I look forward to seeing more of your videos!

  • great work thanks for this guys

  • Perfect!

  • superb

  • This ways helpful, i think I'm "someone who thinks there a pro" by your system but i hope to see more. Yes i will subscribe.

  • good shit guys. good shit

  • Very well done series of videos - I've been playing Tekken since T2 but I am still a complete amateur. Hopefully with the help of your videos and lots of practice, I can become... slightly less amateur!

  • hmm great vids guys, I must say that Feng had some of these *Absorb moves in T5 & DR and some of the reversals for running moves are character specific. I find that ASUKA cannot reverse some of the attacks that PAUL, ANNA, NINA, etc... can reverse. KING has some special reversals that cannot be CHICKENED great vids keep em coming!

  • King can only reverse kicks, and NONE of them are chickenable

  • Wrong, king can reverse high punches with b+1+3. His b+2+4 is used for mid/high kicks.

  • RIP over-clarifies too much. >_>

  • Does Kazuya's f+2 count as an "absorb hit" to right punches? If so, then these have been around since T5.

I think I remember certain other moves from T5 having similar properties.

Great job guys! So professional; you make SoCal proud. :)

  • f+2 isn't an absorb hit, sadly.

  • Great video guys but i didnt get how did u do miguels tsubaki punch parry? thankx in advance.

  • wait wait wait, technically Heihachi had an absorb move in Tekken 5, his b+1+2

  • Great video series guys... Well done. 5 stars.

  • Hi, i have a question.

At 2:53, how did you manage to make Asuka hold out her parry for so long? It seemed much longer than her usual parry!

    Thanks,

    HP123

  • It's new in Tekken 6, and Asuka only. Just hold down the button longer and her Attack Reversal is longer. :)

  • You just hold 1+3 down.

  • you have to have her green hat equipped. +10 endurance.

  • great job guys and sorry MYK for bugging your about that 1 detail on AIM =) i will be watching

  • Personally i think you guys get too interested in categorizing moves. like the different names for the move parries with wang and bruce.

If you were somehow just able to look at the code namco wrote then all this testing and categorizing moves would be unneccessary.

  • good stuff. i'd probably add a few things

1: strategy explanation- why do people sidestep, backdash, etc. what to do on successfully evading, "real life" examples, high-low mixups, etc.

2: basic stuff on moves- push back, how fast it comes out, getting punished for slow moves, poking, using proper range.

3: more time breaking down combos- explanations what launchers are, strings vs. combos, what's NOT a combo (like the "10-hits"), why juggles are good. what a juggle is.

    i enjoyed it though

  • I think they will get into that. Remember this was just the first episode aimed at basics. The ten-string thing counts mostly unless you can continue juggling like with lili.

  • gj guys~ just hope that when you go into character specific tutorials you don't reveal EVERYTHING.

  • Thanks, good videos

  • I recently bought the game and with these videos i feel like i'm starting with everything i need to know... Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  • The gory details of how you guys figured out what percentage people get rage and how much more damage you did was reeeeeeeally unncessary. Just say it kicks in around 11% hp and you do 30-40% more damage... done.

Rest of the tutorial is really good though, as a tekken scrub Im looking forward to more.

  • Hey n00b! You're not the only one who are watching this video.

I really wanted to know that stuff!

Cred to IAMTEKKEN for these videos, these are the best Tekken tutorials on the youtube! Great quality for both sound and picture!

Looking forward for the next ones!

  • @Bhup1978 I watched this with a few other people in the house wanting to learn the game, and it was all really good, except that bit. The rage bit was difficult to follow when you realise that all beginners need to know could've been said in one complete sentence.

I'm not saying that people wouldn't want to know, but it's hardly the beginners that will be breaking down health percentages and damage values.

  • Yeah, you're probably right. But also for newcomers it is ok to know that rage-mode starts at 160 points and not at 159 even that thay both are 11%.

  • Great stuff crew.

  • great stuff guys. learned a sh!t load. hope u guys do character specific stuff next.

  • I never had any idea of how complex this game was... Sigh. I guess I'll have to go buy it now.

  • great job guys i can't believe how much i learned just by the first episode. can't for the next one. thank you

  • Ive played Tekken for years and years but I never knew that both button moves, such as blond bomb, could be chickened at all!!

Guess ive...*sigh* Leveled up my game -.-

  • I've been playing Tekken for YEARS and I've never known about the whole "chicken" system.

    Level up!

  • lose the catch phrase "level up your game" thing you think you got going there guys, very cheesy! Im saying that with love. L-o-v-e. Thanks for a great show.

  • I have one question concerning the getup system which you didnt mention in the vid. Ive seen some matchvids where players opt to stay on the ground and take one more low hit. This seems to bring them up very safely for a small lifecost.

Is this a correct assumption or am I missing some of the mind game?

    Looking forward to next episode.

  • this is absolutely correct. Against characters with little posibilitiy to hit lying opponents, this is the best strategy. However some characters can really hurt u if u stay. Maybe this is too complicated for begining and it will be presented in more in-depth strategy chapters.

  • Nah, I don't think it's too complicated.

Basically, depending on who you're playing, it's sometimes better to just stay on the floor and take the hit.

  • Thank you guys for teaching me the chicken notations, I will definitely be useful against Asuka fighters.

  • You guys did a spectacular job. Bravo.

  • Awesome, keep it up!

  • As a firm Tekken enthusiast this shit warms me. It's good to see you guys make this game not only accessable to noobs, but to effectively exhibit its technicality.

  • great work!!

  • fantastic work guys! keep it up!

  • *Stands up slowly...clap...clap...clapclapclapclap* Great job guys loved it!

  • very good stuff

  • Very useful and helpful stuff, both for beginners and experienced players!

  • Informative episode, good refresher for old players and a lot of useful info for new ones.

I hope you get into character specifics and matchups later on in the episodes

  • good shit guys, the tekken scene really needs stuff like this for the new players. I think this is awesome

  • Great videos guys. I've just suscribed to you tube only to make this comment. Great work...

  • Nice videos! This will help beginners a lot.

    Ideas for your next movies:

    - different types of launchers

    - different types of stuns and stun recovery

    - frame data and punishing

    - different types of unblockables

    - backroll traps

    - techtraps

  • Great videos! Thanks :-)

  • This is koo guys definetily needed these tips to help level up my game im really good at tekken n i knew most of this stuff but ive still learned something new from dis vid, good stuff continue making more i will b watching

  • Useful stuff! ^__^

Thanks a ton. I hope you guys continue making more vids. Everything was very well done.

  • how do u combos

  • MYK is mistaken when he said that the "Absorb" is new to Tekken 6. Feng's f+3+4 has the same exact properties and he could absorb strings. He had this since his first incarnation in Tekken 5.

  • Yeah, same with Kazuya's f2

  • Kazuya's f+2 is a sabaki. That move just shuts the opposing move down. An "absorb" move would show some kind of blocking animation which Kazuya's doesn't.

  • Feng's f3+4 is a unique parry, where if it parries 2 hits, Feng will do an attack after PARRYING 2 hits. NOT AN ABSORB move.

They are new to the Tekken 6 series, this type of move was never present in any Tekken's before.

  • So the definition of an "absorb move" is an attack that absorbs another attack and then continues?

The absorbing animation of Wang's and Feng's moves look about the same, so that's why I made my comment.

As a side note I'm not trying to argue for the sake of arguing. I just want to understand. I love what you guys are doing here.

  • Thank you, we really appreciate it.

  • But still I wanna know what the exact definition of an Absorb move is? Is it specifically an actual attack?

  • I allready knew all this. I hope you guys make more tekken videos, and next time more advanced stuff ;)

    Nice job!

  • Nothing short of a masterpiece guys.

As a newcomer to the tekkenseries I learned tons of new stuff from watching these vids. (especially from the parts about wallcombos and wake-up game) You did a great job keeping it interesting and fun to watch from start to finish.

/subscribed and eagerly awaiting the next episode ;)

  • Wasnt Xiaoyu BT f 1+2 an absorb move introduced back in T5?

  • you guys are studs (:

    many many babies for you.

    good work. awesome quality.

  • This is really helpful especially for a newbie like me! You guys really did a great job. Hope to look forward for you characters combo. Cheers guys!

  • wow good job on this vid! thnx a lot this is very helpfull. Looking forward to the other episodes
