If you start belly dancing when you are in your 20s, is that too late to become good? As in good enough to participate in competitions? I am 25 and would love to get into this dance. I have started taking classes and love it. I just feel maybe I am too old to become really good...???
@violetviolets I started belly dancing when i was 27. 2 1/2 years later I'm joining a performing troupe. I also started flamenco, african and ballet recently. It's never too late.

I was 3 when I started dancing and 11 when I started belly dancing, but I have seen girls in their 20's to their 30's that can belly dance..you have to really be into dancing to be good and age makes no difference. It is how you put in to it that makes the dancer. 100%

wow that was amazing! technically speaking everything was awesome but I think the most astonishing part was her natural enthusiasm ^_^ I'm just learning belly dancing formally and I'm yet to even try to look happy amidst all the movement and concentration haha. she made everything look so effortless! which I think is the mark of an amazing performer
i hv seen alot of bellydancing shows and i hv to say i m impressed with this dancer's control and joy of expression in the music, which is not even her native culture... she dances with passion and incredible precision control, her hip locks and pops are sharp and clear, her rolls are like beautiful waves, her overall styling is lovely, expressive and graceful... i can understand how she impressed the panel of international judges!

Almost every univer in Russia has economic and law department. Ther're about 250 universities only in Moscow. You think it is normal? And I know a lot of people from Western Europe who came to Moscow or S.-Petersb. for higher salary. I can't judge them, 'cos I was born and growed up in Moscow and life quality in capital and province differs hugely. I just want to say that unemployment is not the main problem. yeah, you are right about that for sure. at some universities you dont need to attend classes as long as you pay for each exam to get a pass grade.

I m not sayin each Russian is a prostitute. Go to Moscow s clubs, and see the amount of girls who d have the OPPORTUNITY to study something (well i dont know about the welfare in post socialist russia, to be fair) and just want LUXURY LUXURY LUXURY and thousands of dollars a night. i was fair enough to say the Arab girls in Lebanon and Saudi are not different, educated to strive for luxury, just cultivate their beauty and marry rich. but they d not "officially" prostitute at least.

Dinavienna, don't be an uncultured idiot. A club in Moscow is not representative of the beautiful, complex cultures that make up Russia and it's certainly not the place to find their views on morality. Anyone with common sense would know not to look in a CLUB in a TOURIST city.
There are just as many Arab prostitutes, if not more of them.

This holds true for many countries, like in the US you ll find greater arrogance and stupidity in this arrogance on what "America can do" and how "Americans are the best". there s also more vulgarity with respect to general manners.
In Europe, there s certainly a general weakness in thinking Europe still is the centre of the world and the ultimate best.

respect to Russia, but rather my high expectations were disappointed.
I happen to know many "cultured" Russians and have great respect for them - they themselves tend to "defend" Russian society and its views on prostitution with views like "the culture is different, it s not perceived as something as bad as in other parts of the world including the US and Europe".
I think if Russians are honest like these ppl are they can acknowledge there is - unfortunately - a lot of sexual looseness

i respect Russian culture, literature, theatre, music, to tremendous extents.
i respect Russian political and ideological thoughts equally much, contrary to popular thinking all over the world in the past decades.
only that the "high end" of Russian culture, thinking and intelligentsia has little to do with Russian society, which I ve disappointedly taken notice of after I started studying the Russian language with all this romance about Russians in my head.

you are right with prostitution in the Arab countries. Firstly, the gulf, so strict and islamic, is the no 1 destination of prostitutes (large proportion being Russian, Ukrainian, Belarus girls). so incredible vulgarity done by men.
and by men: the "chaste" country of Saudi has women marry the richest men. that s prostitution under the excuse of marriage, they re sellin off their bodies as well.
