Funny how I've had the most problems on Windows XP out of every OS. To be honest, only real problem I've come across in vista that annoys the shit out of me is compatibility. I actually like windows 98 for some reason lol

My vista runs smoothly since 3 and a half years. I had some problems in the beginning but after SP1 it worked fine. Not saying Vista is good, but for the private user it's not nearly as horrible as it's made out to be.

I've got a serious problem, my xp comp is getting old and i need to buy a new one. I got win 7 on my working computer and . . . .it sucks! it is simply too slow. so that is not an option, a mac, well what can you do on a mac? and then we have linux, yes its nice but its a full time job to get it to run and install programs. I don't know maybe i'll just stop using a computer all together.

@MikeKay1978 google "torrents", for windows xp professional, download it, get ares or any other p2p downloader, open the torrent, itll start downloading, itll take approximately half to 1 day or 2, depending on your connection speed, open the file with winrar, extract contents, run the EXE file and there youll have the option to format your PC, save all your important files on USB flash drives or external harddrives, format the pc and in about an hour or so youll have xp pro sp3.

@MikeKay1978 well its too slow because you most probably are running tons of unnecessary applications, uninstall them, download ccleaner to clean up lots of clutter, get a permanent antivirus via torrents as well, or download avast for free or comodo firewall antivirus here: filehippo, but ill recommend kaspersky, cleanup and checkout for virus (most virus dont do shit and just clutter the computer), once youre done itll speed up a lot, if it does not, your hard is most probably outdated

Thing is, serious users never ran into that wall of required knowledge people on the internet like to complai about. I was able to adapt my Vista, to make it work exactly as I want it to. All the features I like, and none of the stuff people insist on complaining about. When a program starts running, it doesn't have to ask me for permission if I already said I wanted to use it, for instance.

@Deathrape2001 As I said, I never had that problem. With just a bit of insight, you can make Vista's terrible flaws disappear entirely, and make it a personalised OS that runs smoothly and consistantly.

The problem seems to be that people like you are just so eager to have an opinion on things, without taking the time to analyse the matter. You should see what my laptop does, it's quite amazing. And to install a program, all I have to do it click 'Run', and it installs. No double security.

Try Vista the way I have, and be surprised, or just stick with what you have. I'm sure your option is as worthwhile as what I'm using, perhaps it even has serious advantages over what I'm using. However, I don't think that's the point here. I simply said that for me, Vista has worked well, provided that you adapt it. The original Vista indeed sucks balls, fiercely.

@RetroShinigami I agree with you on Vista and XP, though Vista was never fast for me. I never liked it, for many reasons. XP was superior in user experiense over Vista, manily because they focused on "bling-bling"-effects in Vista, not usability. Vista was a horrible OS.

Ubuntu is a good system, but is for a bit more experiensed Linux users IMO, I prefere Linux Mint, as the best for starters, then jump to Ubuntu afterwards.
