they have some pretty nice pen rods that are pretty portable you should check them out . im sure you just need it to kill some time and nothing pro so that would work great to catch some smaller fishes .. thanks 4 the vid

@MrHayzar1 its not a waste of money, i picked one up as a joke a while back, i now own 3. i fish for spot (for bait), croakers, and white perch with it, it makes these fish a blast! i know someone who landed a 20# striper on one. i know people have told you before but its so much better to hold the reel the right way, if your right handed you can put the handle on the right side.... the "switch" is so that you can free line with live bait and be able to let line out but be ready for a strike.

I have one of those. It's for ice fishing. You could just rubber band a bottle to a stick for free and it would work just as good. Maybe I'll make a video showing how it's done. If you do a search on amazon for "telescopic rod" you'll see the ones you were thinking about.
