It might just be me, but why is everybody getting so pissed about John and the interviewer saying "Indians" when that was the accepted term for it then? Did you miss the entire conversation about trying to help native Americans and give them land and rights? Some people will bitch about anything.....jeez
@Legacychildren - I think around the 60's/70's people were starting to get interested in first nations culture. So, people of non-native ancestry still had mis-information. We have so much more knowledge now, thanks to the movements of indigenous peoples who make their voices heard and shared their culture. Still have a ways to go, but, minds are opening...and on a world scale, the struggle for indegenous rights is a struggle for all peoples-we are all people of the earth.
before the american revolution, britian wanted to stop colonizing west. They were tired of fighting the indians over land disputes, they could afford sending people there, and they realized that the first nations had to be treated the same way as any other "old world" country. The americans claimed that the east was getting too crowded (which is stupid now there's 150,000,000+) and they did not think that the natives used the land properly
people that want to kill and who support killing are going to be overthrown by those whose violence as a means of survival, not some pre-emptive fabrications about how diffferent we are as people. The elite and the sheep think they are soo different but their not, HAHAHA! as an 'indian,' i say john was cool and these murderers will never have the last say; great spirit has the last say.
I find this video very interesting, and relevant for the continued education about racism and annihiliation of cultures. What I find most interesting is that John Lennon mention how interested the English are in how we are treating Indians in the U.S, yet there is no reference at all to what the English did to the Irish.
Well its good to know that England is Sticking up for us Native Americans...it wasnt fair to us that we got our land taken...but at least they r at least TRYING to make up for that..i think
Lennons guitarist a few years later was Jesse Ed Davis, a full blooded Kiowa from Oklahoma he would later use on the Rock & Roll and Walls & Bridges albums, not to mention George's Concert for Bangladesh; Extra Texture and Ringos Goodbye Vienna and Ringos Rotogravure albums! Lennon met him at the Rolling Stones R&R Circus in 1968 backstage and the rest was history. Davis girlfriend Patti Daley recently released photos from Johns Lost Weekend era in LA. Check it out!
There is NO doubt that John LOVED Yoki 100000%, and that he believed it's all about the heart, the inner-self, cause she is one hell of an UGLY woman! For all their money and I know it was the era, but her damn taste in cloths-disgusting. She could have used one hell of a bra, cause those babies are down to her crotch, gross! I'm not sure what she had, but he had to truly see something sublime inside!
John mentions ping pong in China and this is the same footage used in Forrest Gump, when Forrest returns from ping pong in China. Now it makes even less sense that they didn't use John's real voice for the scene.
@Gravitymann of course were not indians we made sure to do our best to kill them. you would think by now that people would learn to stop posting comments that only perpetuate violence and thus setting us back into the dark ages over and over again, words can create or detroy depending on the spiritual influences a man/woman chooses to follow, theres only two spiritual intellects a person can be influenced by, which one will you choose, the god of love? or the destoryer, the god of carnel flesh and the big kingdoms of this world, with all his power, money, control and religion
(((_{-_-}_))) i would think by now we should be "judging"men by their actions more and their words less, funny thing about words is that you cant really idenify with all people due to the many variations of peoples intellects, listen and have pacients, and if you dont understand, do not judge or you will bring on judgement upon yourselfs, mans levels of understanding are based on his/her knowledge of truth and more importantly a pure and virtuous love filled heart, love & respect 4 one another :)
In 1970 when this interview was done there were 264,000 Indians in North America, or a quarter of one million, down from 19 million on that land mass when whites arrived.
@ASGxZ i am very much aware of all the vile crimes that the war machine has caused against humanity and it is not my government, i do not believe in government i am an anarchist, and also stop telling me to do my research, i have obviously studied mk ultra harder than you to find out how it is bullshit. PEACE!
@Weeman44444444444444 I consider myself an anarchist as well. If your research is that much better than mine please explain to me why it is bullshit and I will keep an open mind. To me it is almost undeniable. They find ways to kill men like John all the time. Look at Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Malcom X, Tupac, Bob Marley, John F. Kennedy (His brother and son as well), Princess Diana, you can even argue Michael Jackson too. Its pretty obvious really.
@ASGxZ In brief mk ultra did exist and they where experiments in mind control from 1950's to mid 70's by us and ussr but the results of the experiments have been largely over blown by alex jones and david icke and previous profiters of fear there was on 10 million spent on mk ultra that is not alot of money for the u.s to spend, its a small fraction of what they u.s spend on most military and black ops experiments which just goes to show it was not that much of a success!
@Weeman44444444444444 Also i agree there is something going on with jfk and his brothers death but it seems like more of a kue by hoover also M.L.K was murdered by street punk for the fame, princess diana was obviously a assination for bringing down and embarrassing the monarchy but tupac, micheal jackson, bob marley c'mon man u mad!
@ASGxZ He was a manchurian candidate for the CIA, which means HE WAS WORKING FOR THEM. And by the way he was acting the night of the assassination and in general it points to suspicion. I'm no fucking rocket scientist, but that would be a mind controlled victim if i ever saw one.
@ASGxZ stop telling me to do the research iv done the fucking research, and i do "realize" that there are secret societies whom powers are severely over stated by pop culture and charlatans.
@Weeman44444444444444 I'm telling you to do it because it seems like you haven't. They may be overstated, but they are the ones in power, or am i wrong?
@Weeman44444444444444 First of all 10 mill was a lot of fucking money back then and one must ask them self why the hell were they trying to fund money for mind control anyways? Any government that is looking into that is one based on control and fear so using that against a man like John Lennon is almost a guarantee. He was the only man who can gather a million people for a peace rally and that scared the crap out of our government because they were about war at the time and we still are.
@ASGxZ You want to know why the U.S was doing it because the russians where, it is that simple they want to be able to have the same power as there enemy also 10 million was not that much the u2 spy plane cost 22.5 million for early blue print development. Also i am not denying our government uses fear to control us, but thats if you let it and finally i am not denying john lennon could do all those great thing he was an amazing man.
@Weeman44444444444444 How the fuck would you know how much money was exactly spent? You do realize they are the government right? They could do whatever they wan't and John was being followed by the fbi and cia way before his death. They killed him, thats all I'm trying to say. Wake up.
@ASGxZ how do i know exactly how much it cost i did my research! and the word want is not spelt "wan't" do some dictionary research and come back to me with some sort of knowledge and facts.
@Weeman44444444444444 That doesn't disapprove my last point one bit and trying to point out a small grammatical error isn't making you look smarter buddy.
@ASGxZ and I may not agree with the way people like alex jones express their knowledge about the govn't, but the reason why people like them even exist in the first place is because of all the corruption that is going on. The media's story on Mark Chapman was inaccurate too. He was NOT obsessed with John Lennon, he was into some other artist at the time and he hated guns, yet he took a stance that night and fired 5 rounds into Lennon's back that a drill instructor would've been proud of.
John Lennon knows more about natives than 99% of Americans Pathetic that US history books dont mention natives fighting and dying for their land and families. From the mayflower pilgrims to the mormons stealing ute/shoshone land, sodbusters in Oklahoma stealing native land, golddiggers at the black mountains stealing soiux land, California settlers stealing native land
@MissSteak666 He wasn't intending to be racist though, probably just wasn't aware it was considered offensive. I used to use the term "red indian" when I was a child thinking that's what they were called, obviously I meant to offense.
@ED000111 Nothing is being done, you say? Well, why don't you make a donation to the Hearts of the Sacred Spirit charity then? If you wanna get things done, its gotta start with one.
We miss and love you John Lennon! You are right, you said " you may say I'm a dreamer. But, I'm not the only one " because your not the only one!!! Much life and to your soul my Freind!!
@Mr62ford are you serious? look around you at every thing from social aspects to economic aspects of our country a lot of things have changed since and because of the 60s think about life in the 40s and 50s and then see how much every thing changed after the 60s because of the influence the counterculture had on society
Why do we have to group people together. Sure, white men happened to be invaders in the past and may be responsible for many things wrong today. But the exact same thing could be said about Jews and how they practically own the world and are responsible for it's many problems. Scapegoating is an easy way to feel satisfied and have revenge, so please don't do it. We're all humans who should be able to ignore past prejudices and live life in peace.
Okay, are my eyes playing tricks or is the guy in the audience asking the question at the beginning of the clip, the same one who turned up at Ascot in the film, Gimme Some Truth?
John Neihardt died in 1973. Two years before his death, an appearance on The Dick Cavett Show provoked the most viewer response in the history of the show.
i wonder whatever happened to that dick asking the question.he was one of those jerk off late 60s beatle disciples,im surprised he aint on his knees like a good little hippie boy
I guess John never read about the French and American revolutions, without them, we'd still be living under monarchic, imperialistic, authoritarian oppression.and priests would still be torturing and killing witches.Hippies, *sigh*
@Kougeki1000 there is this book called the Indian giver. The term We the People used in the constitution is the english translation for Iroquois. The Iroquois had a lot of influence in the construction of the way the American system is run today. Because the Iroquois had not monarchic, oppression, or imperialism and saw how civilized and organized their system was used it as their model on how to run America.
@mylabonte and the constitution was put in place by what? A peaceful revolution? The founding fathers ASKED Britain to let go of their colonies? No, they took them with force, because force is sometimes the only option when faced by tyrannical powers.
@Kougeki1000 just get to the point. How does any of my statements have any thing to do with the revolution and Britain? I NEVER said that the whole constitution was constructed by the Iroquois. I said they had an influence. Minorities are kept from experience from basic human rights since our current government supports declarations such as DRIP. Can you draw the line from the previous statement and your last comment please so i can understand where your coming from.
If you read 'a people's history of the United states' by Howard Zinn you almost feel ill how the white man have conquered, killed, raped and lied. No joke. i' can't help i'm a white dude, but you should learn about history before you say 'i'm a proud' this and that. It's all bullshit anyway. All the problems we have today, one way or another is created by rich white men. FACT.
"our world is in crisis because of the abscence of good ideas" - Terence Mckenna.
@texasB666 thank you so much for your support and insight. I deal on a day to day bases white non- indians that come on to my reservation with such interest to learn. I am glad people are wanting to learn the truth by seeking it from real Indians.
@mylabonte :) offcourse sir. Let's not bullshit. Let's tell it like it is. I've always been attracted to the real indian culture. All cultures actually. I honestly believe we are all one!
@texasB666 Howard Zinn is a Leftist with an anti-American agenda. He is also Jewish and spends a huge amount of his time pointing out how "evil" White Gentiles are.
@TasinAkiwo I didn't say Howard Zinn wasn't dead. I said he was a Leftist with an anti-American agenda. Millions of people served in the US military and don't accept his views. His beliefs are consistent with a subset of Jewish intellectuals that despise the US. He was a Marxist who did bad history.
@Jasonlittlex what was his agenda, exactly? The way I see it he was just being an honest historian. It doesn't really matter whether or not other people accept his points of view, because he presented facts. Now if you have an issue with his sources, why don't you do your own research and disprove him?
Also Howard Zinn being a Marxist is laughable. But I'm sure everyone who doesn't agree with you is a Marxist, aren't they?
@TasinAkiwo Howard Zinn's describes himself as "Something of an anarchist, something of a socialist" per wikipedia which is sourced. He was not a normal historian at all. He presented a version of history, that like Marx, viewed everything as class struggle. It was very simplistic in that sense. He viewed everything through that lens tinged with a certain anti-White bias. I don't need to disprove him, he isn't taken that seriously by historians anyway. Nor did he "discover" any new facts.
@98bigbutt I bet you have never been to a real reservation and have never met a real Native American. I am 100% Native American(Apache/Navajo), I have lived in a big city before and I have also lived on reservations my whole life and I can tell you now that Native American people DO NOT have it better or easier than black people. We live in economic conditions worse than those in the worst city ghettos on some as bad as third world countries. GET EDUCATED.
Blacks have it worse because at least the Native Americans still have their religion, culture and their language. But black people on the other hand don't have any of that.
The more things I hear John Lennon say, The less I think of him. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and I feel he has a little knowledge of many things. It's better to sit in the corner, with your mouth shut, looking stupid... than to open your mouth and prove it. He loved himself, and couldn't shut up!
What white people have done to other races is disgusting. It actually makes me ashamed to be white, but the thing he said that struck me most in that vid was one of the last things he said. 'one day they're going to be asking for their rights' That just sums up the whole tragedy of the situation. They shouldnt have to be begging ignorant politicians for their rights. It's their land. If anything they should be saying get the fuck out of my country now.
I am Native American From Guatemala. and I agree with john when people think tht natives are all dead or a few of em as he said. Poeple just dont think about it harder! theres Indians EVERYWHERE! USA native, Mexicans, Centro Americans, South Americans! Are ALL indians!! people here think tht the indians were the indians here in US! No! LOok around you! So called "Latinos", "Hispanics" and Natives from North America! ARE Native Americans!
I wonder how many folks who comment on Native Americans have ever lived or worked with them. I have taught Native American students for about five years and it is apparent to me that it is a whole lot easier to comment on this group of people the less you know about them. I genuinely love my students, but can see the pluses and minuses of their culture as they can comment on mine.
@foxwilliammulderx pride in the color of your skin is stupid, pride in the color of your character and your actions is not. not to mention the fact that i cant do shit about what happened 200 years ago. sorry that im white I'm sttill trying to figure out how to change that?
@ggraef i`ve never lived or work with but i still have an opion white american`s almost wiped them out. and there still pretty repressed america is really there country. they laughed and did`nt understand the concept of land ownership (how can you own something what belongs to the earth) and thats when your gonna get class system`s and then poverty
Kimpunkrock you dumb fuck read the history books! It was the colonizers that were taking advantage of the kindness that the First Nations people gave them. When they first came here they fed them, healed them and sheltered them and welcomed them as brothers. What did they do? they turned around took advantage of the hospitality and stabbed them in the back. Not saying all of the first colonizers were like this, but yes this is what happened. Read a fucken book uneducated fuck..
@CherishBobbyLoveBear It was not all like that. Many of the tribes were relatively peaceful and like you said were open to the Europeans. Other tribes were far more territorial and warlike. The Lewis and Clark expedition led to some very good early writings on contact by Europeans with Native Americans that went both ways.
To whoever put this video up. Abraham Lincoln isn't a very good person to quote if you are talking about sympathizing with indigenous people. Lincoln ordered the largest mass execution in US history against the Santee Sioux.
And Lennon, though he probably had good intentions, was still just another rich white guy trying to tell us (people of color) how we should fight. In case you haven't noticed, this video is of two white people talking about people of color like they are children.
@aretz28 wise man??? You must be kidding!? He was all talk and bullshit action! If he was so against violence etc...why did he and Yoko! wear real FUR coats!!!!!!!!!!!!Man what charlatans!! He (and she...) got what they deserved!
One look at the exchange and anyone can see that I've schooled every last one of you in the subject of Indian-American relations and John Lennon. By the way I'm a quater algonquin (though i do have blond hair and blue eyes) so dont call me a white supremicist.
@Vangrungy I wonder if Spaniards are murdering Indian women men and Children in hell? Murdering people in the name god is the same thing as sacrificing humans, just a different way of doing it.
@Vangrungy Yeah and in the time before the Mayans sacrificed them, the offerings were treated like gods. Now when the Spaniards came over and started Sacrificing Indians for their God they treated them like Animals and attempted to erase their memories from existence. BTW Christians never expelled Muslims from their Lands, but rather the Crusades resulted in a cessation of their lands that are still in muslim hands today ala Constantinople.
@Vangrungy Mayans arent gone??A quick check of C.I.A. world factbook shows Belize with 10.6% Mayan population,Guatemala with 40.3% Mayan population,i know a large population % is in Mexico, but need to log-off now, what ever gave you the idea Mayans are gone??
@aaron4wilkins Yeah there are about 2 million Mayans, if I'm not mistaken. They actually have one of the most intact indigenous cultures left. And they don't take oppression sitting down, either! Look up EZLN if you want to see what some Mayans are up to these days. =)
@Zecalran they didn't destroy the Mayan cultures. They tried to destroy the Mayan cultures and failed. They burned the books because they didn't want the Mayans to be able to continue their traditional ways of knowledge. They failed at that too.
Indigenous people are not simply victims of white violence. We are survivors and resisters. We were here before the white man and we will be here when the white man goes extinct.

Wake up.

ragingbull2001 6 months ago
@ASGxZ and I may not agree with the way people like alex jones express their knowledge about the govn't, but the reason why people like them even exist in the first place is because of all the corruption that is going on. The media's story on Mark Chapman was inaccurate too. He was NOT obsessed with John Lennon, he was into some other artist at the time and he hated guns, yet he took a stance that night and fired 5 rounds into Lennon's back that a drill instructor would've been proud of.

From the mayflower pilgrims to the mormons stealing ute/shoshone land, sodbusters in Oklahoma stealing native land, golddiggers at the black mountains stealing soiux land, California settlers stealing native land

Kougeki1000 11 months ago
@Kougeki1000 there is this book called the Indian giver. The term We the People used in the constitution is the english translation for Iroquois. The Iroquois had a lot of influence in the construction of the way the American system is run today. Because the Iroquois had not monarchic, oppression, or imperialism and saw how civilized and organized their system was used it as their model on how to run America.
mylabonte 11 months ago
@mylabonte and the constitution was put in place by what? A peaceful revolution? The founding fathers ASKED Britain to let go of their colonies? No, they took them with force, because force is sometimes the only option when faced by tyrannical powers.
Kougeki1000 11 months ago
@Kougeki1000 just get to the point. How does any of my statements have any thing to do with the revolution and Britain? I NEVER said that the whole constitution was constructed by the Iroquois. I said they had an influence. Minorities are kept from experience from basic human rights since our current government supports declarations such as DRIP. Can you draw the line from the previous statement and your last comment please so i can understand where your coming from.
mylabonte 11 months ago
If you read 'a people's history of the United states' by Howard Zinn you almost feel ill how the white man have conquered, killed, raped and lied. No joke. i' can't help i'm a white dude, but you should learn about history before you say 'i'm a proud' this and that. It's all bullshit anyway. All the problems we have today, one way or another is created by rich white men. FACT.

@texasB666 Howard Zinn is a Leftist with an anti-American agenda. He is also Jewish and spends a huge amount of his time pointing out how "evil" White Gentiles are.
Jasonlittlex 7 months ago
@Jasonlittlex howard zinn is dead, dude. He was "anti-american" because he served in the US military and saw what terrible things it did.
TasinAkiwo 7 months ago
@TasinAkiwo I didn't say Howard Zinn wasn't dead. I said he was a Leftist with an anti-American agenda. Millions of people served in the US military and don't accept his views. His beliefs are consistent with a subset of Jewish intellectuals that despise the US. He was a Marxist who did bad history.
Jasonlittlex 7 months ago
@Jasonlittlex what was his agenda, exactly? The way I see it he was just being an honest historian. It doesn't really matter whether or not other people accept his points of view, because he presented facts. Now if you have an issue with his sources, why don't you do your own research and disprove him?
Also Howard Zinn being a Marxist is laughable. But I'm sure everyone who doesn't agree with you is a Marxist, aren't they?
TasinAkiwo 7 months ago
@TasinAkiwo Howard Zinn's describes himself as "Something of an anarchist, something of a socialist" per wikipedia which is sourced. He was not a normal historian at all. He presented a version of history, that like Marx, viewed everything as class struggle. It was very simplistic in that sense. He viewed everything through that lens tinged with a certain anti-White bias. I don't need to disprove him, he isn't taken that seriously by historians anyway. Nor did he "discover" any new facts.

I have taught Native American students for about five years and it is apparent to me that it is a whole lot easier to comment on this group of people the less you know about them.
CherishBobbyLoveBear 1 year ago

Vangrungy 1 year ago
@Vangrungy Yeah and in the time before the Mayans sacrificed them, the offerings were treated like gods. Now when the Spaniards came over and started Sacrificing Indians for their God they treated them like Animals and attempted to erase their memories from existence. BTW Christians never expelled Muslims from their Lands, but rather the Crusades resulted in a cessation of their lands that are still in muslim hands today ala Constantinople.

aaron4wilkins 1 year ago 9
@aaron4wilkins Yeah there are about 2 million Mayans, if I'm not mistaken. They actually have one of the most intact indigenous cultures left. And they don't take oppression sitting down, either! Look up EZLN if you want to see what some Mayans are up to these days. =)
TasinAkiwo 1 year ago
@TasinAkiwo why did thy destroy the mayan cultures and especially their books?!
Zecalran 1 year ago
@Zecalran they didn't destroy the Mayan cultures. They tried to destroy the Mayan cultures and failed. They burned the books because they didn't want the Mayans to be able to continue their traditional ways of knowledge. They failed at that too.
Indigenous people are not simply victims of white violence. We are survivors and resisters. We were here before the white man and we will be here when the white man goes extinct.
