@Hieisangel yes and no. I actually think it wouldn't be terrible. I would let my mom pick me a husband. She's probably do better than the boyfriends I picked for myself. She is wiser, no hormones to mess up her judgement and she knows me better than I do myself. And she has a good track record. My dad is pretty fantastic. Less fuss with dating etc :)

And I think it would be nice to marry someone you grew up with.

But it would be weird. And i'd hate the pressure shown here.

@missbs1 Yeah, I noticed that too, but I think the movie producers wanted to make sure that Odette's and Derek's ages where clear through their different voices. I think it is hard to have different voices at different age groups. Like I think she is like 12 when she is singing that part but most girls' voices don't change until they are like 15 or something

@missTala64 combine two hypothetical countries, they have lower import taxes, coz its no longer an import. Theres also the reduction in transport costs, perhaps Odette's country imports their fabric from somewhere else coz Derek's country had it too expensive.

Also a reduction in defence costs, it'd be a lot cheaper for the rulers, all over, so would eventuate in lower taxes... Its why all of Europe's monarchies are inter-related! lol

This movie was always my fav as a child. I definitely think Odette is a much more dynamic character than many of her Disney counterparts, because, though she too was attracted to Derek, she refused to marry him due to his shallowness.
