Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Cowboy Bebop, but i just don't understand why Ed and Ein left for her dad that was, well, odd and obviously didn't care for her enough to stick with her. I get the "everything's moving on" the final episodes had, but to me I never understood why Ed left her friends for a guy who didn't care. Anyone know the answer to my thought?
@Conspirator19 hmm there was a scene when Ed ran into Faye on the bebop and Faye asked ed is she had a place to go back to, or people that cared for her...i guess that hit home to he,r because after that, she went back to where she started to look for her father. I guess even tho the crew became close, they were not living easily, it was hard, and they couldn't keep up that lifestyle forever. At least Ein and Ed stayed together.
The irony of it though is that after faye left she returned to the crew. That was her home now. Ed on the other man would always be chasing her father.
@Conspirator19 Ed is a kid! what ever happens to her with that man who calls himself a father is up for interpretation and debate... the bebop was a family yes but it lacked that void that Ed had... "ED IS ED" is a testiment of ed's edness... she does not even understand the concept of gender performance, being a lady, being mature.... however in terms of the logistics of the show... ed and ein were the only characters who were not truely tied to the past of Spike and didn't really care for it.
I haven't seen bebop in a while, but at that point in the show I think it was clear that things weren't going to be adventures and fun happily ever after. The good times weren't going to last forever in other words, and she was moving on. Great part of the show.
who would have wondered that the series would end shortly after that. where you see ein walking away from the ship and ed's writing left on the top of the deck. with dog and girl genius gone, it was the end since spike finds his love in the next episode with a daring rescue and she dies just in few minutes of finding her. then the tragic battle between monster and hero. very good series but has a very sad ending. cause no one said good bye it was too hard to say since they all knew....

I cried when Ed left. It was especially sad when Ein was choosing between her, and the bebop.

@Canute87 ANd now it's just her and Jet on the ship. She finally relaized where she belongs and her home immediately breaks.
