I always found the gameplay of D1 and D2 too simple. Baldur's Gate I and II for me, thank you. But the intro and cutscenes in D2 are amazing!

I'm not a big RPG fan, but Diablo 2 was quite an excellent game, especially in the story. I liked that it wasn't your sterotypical RPG with elves and orcs.

@esh325 It's not a fcking RPG. RPGs use turn-based combat systems. This, however uses realtime and far from RPG style gameplay. RPGs includes character sheets and customizable characterization ( I.E, no Premade arch-types like in this game and non-linear gameplay ). RPGs don't have to include elves and orcs. RPGs can be in any setting.

@visionimagify Sorry to tell you this, but not all RPGs are turn-based. Traditional Japanese RPGs usually are turn-based, examples of these are Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. However American RPGs take a different approach, as traditional American RPGs are like Ultima and Diablo.

Diablo IS an RPG, and true that RPGs don't need elves and orcs, they're just cliches most commonly used for fantasy.
