This album should have been their masterpiece but it coincided with their (and so many bands do it, double album curse. Y'know, they're still on fire but the quality control has gone). Streets is at least 5 songs too long. But this fucking song!!! The lyrics, the vocals, the bass/guitar interplay and the solo alone.... flawless. For me it's their best song.
one of the best solos in the heavy metal history...great perform from the vocal and the genius jon oliva the solo is masterpiece and the whole album ofc
he had no equal at the time except schenker who was criss' idol of course i lost alot when criss died so many times to cry about this indeed....................
@paulkcormier I agree Paul. The first time I heard Criss I amazed at how underrated he was and how he clearly belonged with the EVHs, Malmsteens, Lynch, Vai, Satch etc etc. Incredible phrasing and impeccable tone, Criss was a tremendous player.
Best guitar solo ever done, (next to Ritchie on Stargazer maybe.) Criss is the most undrrated guitar player in rock history. God rest his soul. (I"m sure his soul is healed.) We love you Criss!!!
GREAT to hear this song again!!!!!! some times when u have became absent from music and life, u can really appreciate what u have missed out on ! ! ! \\\ M ///
I WAS a ghost in the ruins. In the 80's I was way strung out on crank, livin in the bushes and tweeker hotels. I met many " ghosts". I used to pay the nite clerk at the Barry hotel in Downtown San Diego a bump to let me crash in a room. There was a closet door, with a ring of hundreds of holes in it. I asked what it was. He said dude before me put a rifle to his mouth, pulled the trigger. The circular pattern was the bone and bullet fragments. Ghost in the ruins baby, been on the Streets. Sux.
i think fight for the rock was one of there greatest records, but streets is down right fucking great! the story is great, the writing is awesome an the guitar tone is frigging sweet. After 20 some years it is still frigging awsome too see so many people love this band! To all you Savatage Fans, you are the bes,t keep the disc spinning!
I started guitar playing after hearing this song on finnish radio 'metalliliitto' and this was about 20 years ago....still....this music is the start.
@chiefshoutingun Well, I guess they kind of did "find their place" with TSO. Just a shame that Criss couldn't see the fruits of his and his brother's hard work. Like Randy Rhoads, there's no telling what that cat would have been pulling off today!
@panagiotis444444 Not only did I record the song at the Record Plant in NYC with my Spector bass and an SVT rig.I wrote the part as well. So before you post shit on you tube you may want to get your facts straight..

It's a shame that these guys were never truly appreciated the way they deserved to be
