I did the alkalizing plan form his book and never felt better. Gained my vision back, dropped 55 pounds, and now actually want to get out and hike or bike! I too have see vegan peeps not feeling or looking very good, and when you realize they are still consuming acidic foods and drinks and alcohol , its a no brainer. Raw food has been such a relief from, pains, headaches, joints, allergies, and that oh so annoying crotch rot on them hot humid days.

Balance is key. Eating a plateful of hormone-laced, drugged, factory-farmed meat with a tiny serving of veggies will make you sick, just as Dr. Young says. I follow the Traditional Diet as taught by Weston A. Price Foundation, consuming CLEAN meats, milk, eggs, etc with LOTS of organic veggies. We must have an abundance of vegetables, even more than previous generations, due to the low mineral content in our foods today. I recommend having a livecell test done. See for yourself.
Actually, it seems to me that people who don't eat animal protein are lifeless and the look in their eyes is dead. It is just observation and personal experience. When I was vegetarian and vegan I haven't had much energy, but as soon as I switched to eating animal products, I feel more alive and vital. Shouldn't we go by how we feel?

i have 4 grandparents all in their 80's and one in his 90s who all eat meat, red meat, white meat, all meats every single day and are perfectly healthy. they dont have gas, arent fat at all, etc which this "doctor" claims are side effects of eating meat. @sypher, yes aminos build muscle, but you don't have to get them from protein. Protein has just been the common way that people have gottent their aminos. But there is a trade off, a dangerous trade off. You get the same and more aminos from a plant based diet. You can find tons of vegan body builders. @Americant47 I just think he is taking the strict alkalinity of the diet too far. The body can become too alkaline, its called oscillation and occurs when one switches over to a dominantly alkaline diet too quickly. The body pushes the body to a more acidic level in order to bolster the immune system, which works better at a lower pH. I don't think being too far one way or the other is good. We need a balance. He is wrong to tell people to completely avoid animal protein for fear of the acid.
@Americant47 Hard to see small pic, however I can see you're a big dude for sure. You MUST naturally be that way though, because the majority of people I know that eat mostly greens based diet (unless they're vegan body builders and know what they're doing) are very skinny and often deficient. My brother looks and feels amazing on a whole foods diet that includes meat. I really don't think he's 'unhealthy' at all for it. One would have to have a lot of greens to get enough protein as mentioned.
@Americant47 Also we are very different to those 'powerful creatures'. They are obviously HUGE, and their biological makeup is designed to BE a herbivore. I could say the same for a T-Rex.. or a Lion, who's diet is exclusively meat. Human biochemistry and physiology is without a doubt Omnivorous. We have canine teeth, hydrochloric acid in the stomach, and an intestinal tract in between that of a herbivore and a carnivore.

The human body was designed to have a regular intake of B12 and cholesterol, (I'm not talking about a lot of cholesterol either). I'm amazed that a doctor could recommend avoiding fish, unless his argument is the contamination factor. If you eat clean, organic meat on occaision maybe for one meal, two-three days per week you will benefit from this. The body feeds on variation. Vary your protein sources between animal and plant (hemp for example). Also vary your animal sources whether it be lean (fish,chicken) or fattier meats on occaision. Eating too much animal protein is bad, but in moderation it is great.
The brain is seriously compromised when adequate levels of protein are not consumed. I'm tired of people preaching extremes with nutrient ratios. A balance is healthiest. Human beings have all of the evolutionary phenotypical signals of an omnivore, including the receding canines. We are omnivores. We are meant to eat animal meat, but it should mirror how our ancestors ate it, i.e. when it was available. Moderation is key.

He is being far too dogmatic about this principle. The body will be equally damaged by becoming too alkaline. The body thrives on a balance equal to the pH of blood, roughly 7.4, hence the necessity to eat a balance of acidifying and alkalizing foods. Meat is actually a beneficial food to eat, like many items, in moderation. The animal fats in meat, which are often demoized are actually valuable for the formation of hormones. Uric acid is not harmful if kept in moderation...see above.

well i'm fruitarian so i agree 100%. I understand his frustration,a family member of mine is starting to get arthritis and has inflamation in the spine meaning constant severe pain at 50! Her bloodwork is awful, deficient in everything including calcium and iron, but she eats meat EVERYDAY. She thinks i have an eating disorder because I prefer green smoothies and fruit. Her doctor keeps telling her to eat more meat! What can I do, she's so sold on meat and has been for her whole life!
I think we are more like plants than we know, and we should be breaking down earthbound minerals like our ancestors(Pre historic, our history is limited and rewritten) Because minerals can be formed into any substance and can be taken out of any dirt. I think thou shalt not kill was more of a strict guide than we know and the only reason we have to is because technology, maybe our internal technology has been hidden from us. I'm always skeptical of the "one size fits all" approach to nutrition. Balance is the key to health and longevity. How many vegan octogenarians are out there? The diet he proposes seems to be most beneficial to a body out of balance. But once back in balance and individual must find the diet that works for them.

I know what he says sounds far fetched, but he's amazing. He's cured so many people of cancers (some withinin 2 months) they were told were incurable. 6 months to live, etc...just by changing their diet. I have been taking his vitamin D3 (the only vitamin he sells) and his phourSalts. In just over 1 month my hair is thicker and silkier, my nails stronger and I do not have any more ridges-vertically or horizontally.

I believe that the food pyramid is totally out of balance and that the body doesn't need anymore protein than is found in leafy green vegetation as is clearly proven by RawdawgRory here on youtube who has gone completely raw and lots tons of weight and BUILT muscle!

This is a great video. There's no question for me that living an alkaline lifesttyle is the right way to go. Our struggle for health is with companies that profit from our disease or dis-ease as Dr. Robert young says.

In my work as a Nutitional Microscopist and Colon Hydrotherapist I can see first hand the results of eating the wrong foods. You can see it in the blood and the many, many kg of uneliminated waste in the colon( more than 6-8 kg) The blood does not lie it will always show you what your lifestyle is like. I have found in my own life that everything Dr. Young is saying here has been 100% on the money...in other words, very TRUE! It is amazing that we have the cure to so many diseases at our finger tips yet so many people wont listen to it MAINLY because they either don't or won't believe it.

For those of you that may not know the initials Dr. may not mean a medical doctor. Dr. Young has a PHD in a branch of Biology. He has been researcjing for 35 years. He does have many testimonials. His statements may be strong but he has the evidence to back his claim. If it is too extreme , one could adopt some of his dietary suggestions and feel a lot better.
Nice work man, I like seeing the doc being a little more aggressive. However, If you could hit on the meat more please ask him how these freaking body builders (that only eat chicken and potatoes, and VERY small amounts of greens) get so big. The body has to somehow make the muscle stronger and bigger. How does that happen with an acidic diet?
Natural bodybuilders -- meat eating, and non-meat eaters -- do not become 'freaking' big. This can ONLY be done with chemical support (no matter what any of them claim). A genetically appropriate individual can become solid and muscular to the extent that a normal body can, through exercise and diet that has the right potential to convert to muscle (e.g. could be a large amount of greens -- like grass-fed bull, or gorilla might consume -- not necessarily meat, egg or dairy protein sources).
Right, I understand that. And I do love Dr. Youngs theory on the who green diet. I worked at powerhouse gym in the past. Dr. Young says meet will kill you (and I believe this). He deems it useless and that is has "No nutritional value" my question to the Doc would be "CAN" the body get protein from animal meat and other vitamins like iron.
His total concept is ph balance of the body. Eating the proper things to maintain a proper alkaline ph of 7.36. It is not about specific things taken out of context of the entire concept.
I follow Dr. Robert O Young on Facebook, and he has a lot of very good points. It is hard for me to agree with everything that he is saying, though I cannot say that I doubt what he is saying. I do agree to alkalize your body and eat as many raw and green foods as possible. It gets hard for me when he starts saying that probiotics are bad to ingest. I do know that I breastfeed my baby, and he needs my milk to grow.
I just thought I would add another point regarding eating meat. When I went to Africa I had the opportunity to watch free animals go about their business including their eating habits. The lions after eating their prey would gather under a tree and rest for hours to process their ingested meat even though their intestinal tract is very short( ours is about 30 feet long) the Gazelle on the other hand ate the grasses etc displayed a vibrant energyy, jumping around full of life.
I do admit listening to Dr. Young must be challenge to 99% of the population. It is so hard to shift ones viewpoint especially when generations have built their lives on established data. I have spent a few weeks studying with this man and can tell you that his intentions are impecable, his knowledge impressive even if it is controvercial, his fitness for a 60 year old mind blowing, his skin flawless and his humanity and commitment to his patients inspirational. Body builders have muscles because they work out not because they eat calories and protein. Being healthy is one thing and having big muscles is another thing. All we have to do is watch the cells, the blood does not lie. The people that live into their hundreds like the Japanese and the Peruvians are following diets mostly vegetarians, very little animal protein.
I dont agree with.. ive been strict vegan..eating only greens and minimal fruit.. and did not have that much enegy..calories from nuts and seeds helped me feel way more grounded and enegized..
and also after reading how serious b12 defiencies actually are i had to incorporate organic eggs and such back in to my diet... yes i want to believe that my body doesn not need NO animal products but sadly its not true..and as far as mushrooms and algae..Brain on is one of my favourite products for mental clarity... and reishi and cordyseps are powerfull immune building substances....
AtkinsonKanelli, you're correct about the b12 comment, especially regarding pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. I was a vegetarian, almost vegan, for some time before getting pregnant. I wanted to stay that way during pregnancy, but because of anemia, I was advised to start intaking meat, eggs, etc. for the health of myself and unborn child.
Supplements (vitamins/minerals in pill form) 'helped' but just didn't do the job. I listened to my obgyn. I was no longer anemic after adding meat back and felt so much better, too.

Dr. Young is absolutely correct about his alkaline/acid theories and how they apply to health and diet. Obviously this science is challenging the traditional dietary habits we have, which makes it controversial. The truth is that as you learn more about his research you'll find there is so much logic to it. One day there will be a universal paradigm shift to chlorophyll richer foods and drink (panacea) as we humans become smarter and more advanced. Read his books and you'll see.

I'm an omnivore and I agree most Americans eat waaay too much meat, but it's not only the "meat eaters" who smell bad! Majority of the Vegans I've met smell pretty funky themselves!!!

Just did a wikipedia search on robert young. It does not reference that he is a doctor at all, and even states that none of his degrees are from accredited colleges. It is pretty interesting to find out the real knowledge that is behind opinions.
The docter basicly claimes you are what you eat and you start to look like the food you eat well herbavors eat only vegitation so if eating only vegitation makes you helthy than that means all the herbavors we eat are heathy so it must not be bad to eat then right. Im just going off of his thery. And most of all herbavors have more fat than pretitors why is this? can some vegan pleas explain?
In regards to milk fluids derived from wild and grass-fed ruminants: If we heat, homogenize and pasteurize such fluids than we can forget about any beneficial co-enzymatic & bacterial supporting agents which contribute to the full assimilability of such intrinsically nourishing foodstuffs. Raw animal fats (especially from wild or grass-fed sources) maintain ability to exchange molecules & ionic impulses across the cellular membrane. They retain fluidity in the body as opposed to heated fats w/ their higher tendency to harden over a number of years.
Raw animal fat & proteins derived from wild & grass-fed sources (whether dairy, meat or eggs) are essential to reconstruction of the cellular terrain (organs, glands, muscle, ligaments, etc.). In order for the body to enhance reasonable utilization of raw proteins and fats (which are absolutely injurious materials when heated prior to ingestion) the blood must be alkaline. One way to maintain alkalinity is obviously not to heat animal foods.
These agents live harmoniously and symbiotically amidst the inimitable development of the human organism. Your entire corporal existence depends upon the molecular task force that this man ridicules and vilifies.

I had one other comment on the "meat kills" slant. There is a study going on with the Centenarians on Okinawa. The longest living healthy group of 100+ year old people on the world. They are a fishing community & Okinawans consume lots of fish. Fish -- particularly cold-water varieties such as tuna, mackerel and salmon -- contains high concentrations of Omega-3 fatty acids. I love fish, even raw.
There are PLENTY of high functioning 80+ year old people out there who eat meat. Both my mother and father in law are 85, drive from one part of the country to the other, golf, etc and they have meat in their meals daily. I think if people ate ONLY meat then we would run into problems. To use such a general statement about meat "If you want to die in your 50s, 60's" is nonsense. THAT said, Im mostly 70% raw and feel great!

I did the alkalizing plan form his book and never felt better. Gained my vision back, dropped 55 pounds, and now actually want to get out and hike or bike! I too have see vegan peeps not feeling or looking very good, and when you realize they are still consuming acidic foods and drinks and alcohol , its a no brainer. Balance is key. Eating a plateful of hormone-laced, drugged, factory-farmed meat with a tiny serving of veggies will make you sick, just as Dr. Young says. I follow the Traditional Diet as taught by Weston A. Price Foundation, consuming CLEAN meats, milk, eggs, etc with LOTS of organic veggies. We must have an abundance of vegetables, even more than previous generations, due to the low mineral content in our foods today. I recommend having a livecell test done. See for yourself.

Actually, it seems to me that people who don't eat animal protein are lifeless and the look in their eyes is dead. It is just observation and personal experience. When I was vegetarian and vegan I haven't had much energy, but as soon as I switched to eating animal products, I feel more alive and vital. Shouldn't we go by how we feel?

@sypher, yes aminos build muscle, but you don't have to get them from protein. Protein has just been the common way that people have gottent their aminos. But there is a trade off, a dangerous trade off. You get the same and more aminos from a plant based diet. You can find tons of vegan body builders. Anthony Gonazlez of the Atlanta Falcons is Vegan and he's a beast. Speaking of beasts, Elephants, oxen, horses, giraffes etc, build the strongest muscle in the world from plant based diets

@Americant47 I just think he is taking the strict alkalinity of the diet too far. The body can become too alkaline, its called oscillation and occurs when one switches over to a dominantly alkaline diet too quickly. The body pushes the body to a more acidic level in order to bolster the immune system, which works better at a lower pH. I don't think being too far one way or the other is good. We need a balance. He is wrong to tell people to completely avoid animal protein for fear of the acid.

You MUST naturally be that way though, because the majority of people I know that eat mostly greens based diet (unless they're vegan body builders and know what they're doing) are very skinny and often deficient. My brother looks and feels amazing on a whole foods diet that includes meat. I really don't think he's 'unhealthy' at all for it. One would have to have a lot of greens to get enough protein as mentioned.

I could say the same for a T-Rex.. or a Lion, who's diet is exclusively meat. Human biochemistry and physiology is without a doubt Omnivorous. We have canine teeth, hydrochloric acid in the stomach, and an intestinal tract in between that of a herbivore and a carnivore.

I was just shocked he would say things like "Protein doesn't build muscle" which is obviously not true in the least. The body requires a bit more protein than JUST that of what's in greens.. unless you're eating 5kg of greens a day or something. I will bet you most people eating extremely low protein will have very little muscle.

I'm amazed that a doctor could recommend avoiding fish, unless his argument is the contamination factor. If you eat clean, organic meat on occaision maybe for one meal, two-three days per week you will benefit from this. The body feeds on variation. Vary your protein sources between animal and plant (hemp for example). Also vary your animal sources whether it be lean (fish,chicken) or fattier meats on occaision. Eating too much animal protein is bad, but in moderation it is great.

The brain is seriously compromised when adequate levels of protein are not consumed. I'm tired of people preaching extremes with nutrient ratios. A balance is healthiest. Human beings have all of the evolutionary phenotypical signals of an omnivore, including the receding canines. We are omnivores. We are meant to eat animal meat, but it should mirror how our ancestors ate it, i.e. when it was available. Moderation is key.

He is being far too dogmatic about this principle. The body will be equally damaged by becoming too alkaline. The body thrives on a balance equal to the pH of blood, roughly 7.4, hence the necessity to eat a balance of acidifying and alkalizing foods. Meat is actually a beneficial food to eat, like many items, in moderation. The animal fats in meat, which are often demoized are actually valuable for the formation of hormones. Uric acid is not harmful if kept in moderation...see above.

well i'm fruitarian so i agree 100%. I understand his frustration,a family member of mine is starting to get arthritis and has inflamation in the spine meaning constant severe pain at 50! Her bloodwork is awful, deficient in everything including calcium and iron, but she eats meat EVERYDAY. She thinks i have an eating disorder because I prefer green smoothies and fruit. Her doctor keeps telling her to eat more meat! What can I do, she's so sold on meat and has been for her whole life!

I think we are more like plants than we know, and we should be breaking down earthbound minerals like our ancestors(Pre historic, our history is limited and rewritten) Because minerals can be formed into any substance and can be taken out of any dirt. An alkalized body will prevent most western diseases. Knowing what foods to avoid is the key to solving most of what ails us. I've also lost 20 lbs from just taking his phourSalts. Doctors tell you that you should not eat salt. Our bodies are partially made up of salt, so how can you tell me that I shouldn't consume it?? I know what he says sounds far fetched, but he's amazing. He's cured so many people of cancers (some withinin 2 months) they were told were incurable. 6 months to live, etc...just by changing their diet. I have been taking his vitamin D3 (the only vitamin he sells) and his phourSalts. In just over 1 month my hair is thicker and silkier, my nails stronger and I do not have any more ridges-vertically or horizontally.

i knew this "doctor" was a crock the minute he said that the body doesn't build muscle out of protein it is made out of blood and blood is made out of light. haha anyone that has taken a health class in highschool knows that is not true!
i have seen firsthand the effects of anorexia and because they aren't consuming enough protein let alone calories their hair falls out and their heart begins to deteriorate and heart rate become so low that you are afraid that it might stop in their sleep

protein is what saves them. regardless of what source it is from. i find it aggravating that someone would actually throw all common sense out the window and try to sell this to people. so yes muscle is made out of protein and is made by protein. not light or blood. this guy should have his md taken away from him. i would like to see what he eats on a daily basis.

I agree that meat can be harmful, but the human body was designed to consume animal proteins, and we have been doing it for many thousands of years. If God intended us to be skinny, long living weaklings, that only ate veggies, he wouldnt have put so many delicous animals here = )

Finally we have Dr. Youngs supporters come forward. Let us focus on what truly matters and that is evidence which is based on research and treatment results. In my work as a Nutitional Microscopist and Colon Hydrotherapist I can see first hand the results of eating the wrong foods. You can see it in the blood and the many, many kg of uneliminated waste in the colon( more than 6-8 kg) The blood does not lie it will always show you what your lifestyle is like. I have found in my own life that everything Dr. Young is saying here has been 100% on the money...in other words, very TRUE! It is amazing that we have the cure to so many diseases at our finger tips yet so many people wont listen to it MAINLY because they either don't or won't believe it.

For those of you that may not know the initials Dr. may not mean a medical doctor. Dr. Young has a PHD in a branch of Biology. He has been researcjing for 35 years. He does have many testimonials. His statements may be strong but he has the evidence to back his claim. If it is too extreme , one could adopt some of his dietary suggestions and feel a lot better.

Nice work man, I like seeing the doc being a little more aggressive. However, If you could hit on the meat more please ask him how these freaking body builders (that only eat chicken and potatoes, and VERY small amounts of greens) get so big. The body has to somehow make the muscle stronger and bigger. How does that happen with an acidic diet?

Natural bodybuilders -- meat eating, and non-meat eaters -- do not become 'freaking' big. This can ONLY be done with chemical support (no matter what any of them claim). A genetically appropriate individual can become solid and muscular to the extent that a normal body can, through exercise and diet that has the right potential to convert to muscle (e.g. could be a large amount of greens -- like grass-fed bull, or gorilla might consume -- not necessarily meat, egg or dairy protein sources).

Right, I understand that. And I do love Dr. Youngs theory on the who green diet. I worked at powerhouse gym in the past. Dr. Young says meet will kill you (and I believe this). He deems it useless and that is has "No nutritional value" my question to the Doc would be "CAN" the body get protein from animal meat and other vitamins like iron.

His total concept is ph balance of the body. Eating the proper things to maintain a proper alkaline ph of 7.36. It is not about specific things taken out of context of the entire concept.

I follow Dr. Robert O Young on Facebook, and he has a lot of very good points. It is hard for me to agree with everything that he is saying, though I cannot say that I doubt what he is saying. I do agree to alkalize your body and eat as many raw and green foods as possible. It gets hard for me when he starts saying that probiotics are bad to ingest. I do know that I breastfeed my baby, and he needs my milk to grow.

I just thought I would add another point regarding eating meat. When I went to Africa I had the opportunity to watch free animals go about their business including their eating habits. The lions after eating their prey would gather under a tree and rest for hours to process their ingested meat even though their intestinal tract is very short( ours is about 30 feet long) the Gazelle on the other hand ate the grasses etc displayed a vibrant energyy, jumping around full of life.

I do admit listening to Dr. Young must be challenge to 99% of the population. It is so hard to shift ones viewpoint especially when generations have built their lives on established data. I have spent a few weeks studying with this man and can tell you that his intentions are impecable, his knowledge impressive even if it is controvercial, his fitness for a 60 year old mind blowing, his skin flawless and his humanity and commitment to his patients inspirational. Body builders have muscles because they work out not because they eat calories and protein. Being healthy is one thing and having big muscles is another thing. All we have to do is watch the cells, the blood does not lie. The people that live into their hundreds like the Japanese and the Peruvians are following diets mostly vegetarians, very little animal protein.

AtkinsonKanelli, you're correct about the b12 comment, especially regarding pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. I was a vegetarian, almost vegan, for some time before getting pregnant. I wanted to stay that way during pregnancy, but because of anemia, I was advised to start intaking meat, eggs, etc. for the health of myself and unborn child.

about the only thing i agree with is that doctors are just prescribing drugs instead of suggesting dietary changes, but the drug industry is a big, money corrupt business. if your feeling sick then go raw for a month and see how you feel, dont go to a doctor. but the rest of this is bs, calories dont fuel our body and proteins dont build muscle. look at a body builders diet, very high calorie and protein intake and they have huge muscles.

Dr. Young is absolutely correct about his alkaline/acid theories and how they apply to health and diet. Obviously this science is challenging the traditional dietary habits we have, which makes it controversial. The truth is that as you learn more about his research you'll find there is so much logic to it. One day there will be a universal paradigm shift to chlorophyll richer foods and drink (panacea) as we humans become smarter and more advanced. Read his books and you'll see.

In regards to milk fluids derived from wild and grass-fed ruminants: If we heat, homogenize and pasteurize such fluids than we can forget about any beneficial co-enzymatic & bacterial supporting agents which contribute to the full assimilability of such intrinsically nourishing foodstuffs. I had one other comment on the "meat kills" slant. There is a study going on with the Centenarians on Okinawa. The longest living healthy group of 100+ year old people on the world. They are a fishing community & Okinawans consume lots of fish. Fish -- particularly cold-water varieties such as tuna, mackerel and salmon -- contains high concentrations of Omega-3 fatty acids. I love fish, even raw.

There are PLENTY of high functioning 80+ year old people out there who eat meat. Both my mother and father in law are 85, drive from one part of the country to the other, golf, etc and they have meat in their meals daily. I think if people ate ONLY meat then we would run into problems. To use such a general statement about meat "If you want to die in your 50s, 60's" is nonsense. THAT said, Im mostly 70% raw and feel great!
