  • Lol Paul totally stole the show

  • Great footage. They'd have made a gorgeous couple.

  • beautifull song

  • Paul looks totally stoned

  • Put me in a great mood. Thanks.

  • $100 says Paul tapped dat ass.

  • @NomadRepublic $1000 says Paul tapped your ass.

  • @NomadRepublic You suck cock while Mary Hopkins swallows.

  • @yourdickis2limp $10000 says chuck norris kicked your ass

  • love the video love the song shes cute

  • The legend says that paul was in love wirh her in this period.

That's The reason why he produced her and wrote for her some beautiful songs in his perfect style

  • she is from 1950 so in 1969 (I think) she was 19 .

and yes, she was lovely, absolutely.

It was anudder time and age when woman had to go to "my lover's side" when he called her. Hmmm, good old days, oh yes, she sings 'those where the days' too. Surely a song with vision.

  • Beautiful! ♥ :')

  • Beautiful music!

  • You just know he nailed her. Good on you, Macca.

  • This was my favorite Mary Hopkin song. I liked it even more than her biggest hit (you all know, Those Were The...). I recall seeing photos of the recording sessions with Paul Macca and thinking how lucky she was. Thank you.

  • Too bad they never did a duet!

  • Is that Mr. Hopkin next to her? Looks like Paul McCartney to me, but the title says: Paul and Mary Hopkin... Must be her husband or her Dad, maybe.

  • @FlyingJunk Yes it is Paul he produced Mary Hopkin when she recorded his song Goodbye.

  • Paul Mc cartney was soo cute.. What happened.???

  • @notgonnabenice The same thing that happens to all of us unfortunately ;(

  • @notgonnabenice age.

  • Peter ,Paul and Mary from Hell.

  • A voice as sweet and lovely as her face.

  • Hehe, Paul McCartney is a brilliant songwriter.

  • Would have been a #1 for about 10 weeks in 1969 if recorded by the Beatles.

  • she's so chill around paul , I think thats cool, cus I wouldnt be able to control myself around him and I would probably be drooling profusely LOL

  • @happycali09 Hah! I was just thinking the same thing! I got withing 15 feet of him at a concert back in 1976 and my knees just went weak. He was absolutely gorgeous!

  • Not only it was a great honor for Mary Hopkins to sing this song written by Paul McCartney, but it was a greater honor to have him right next to her while she sang it, as this video shows.

  • Hey, Stevie Riks. This might be where Paul got the "Doooooo"!

  • these 2 singing together is so splendid masterpiece!

  • Outstanding!

  • I was introduced to Mary Hopkin's music, because of my admiration of The Beatles, but she is a very talented artist in her own right.

    Isaiah

  • uno dei video piu rari di tuta la storia dei beatles.....qusta canzon scritta da paul non e' mai stata incisa dai fab se non sui booylesgs ottimo grazie all'autore

  • hey quarrymen go back to the hole you come from, don't come back 'cuz this world don't accept such a filthy sicko trash like you

  • So nice to see Paul 'giving' Mary this song, great!

  • I also got beatlesquarrymen's very rude reply in a private mail!

  • Le côté B du 45 tours était "Sparrow".

  • Trivia Question: Q: What Key is Mary Hopkin singing "Goodbye" in???? You'll notice she's got her capo on the 4th fret and using Key of C open fingerings.

Answer: The Key of F. Playing bar chords I find out almost instantaneously she's doing 1-6m-4-5 in The Key of F. Bar chords are a lot harder to play but you never get thrown by capo and absolutely know the Key you're playing in :)

  • shes cute

    good song btw

  • She's quite good on the quick chord changes. This was before the feds banned passive smoke;)

  • @softlaws: Long before !! LOL!

  • I used to love this song. Thank you again for sharing.

    ----------Ellen

  • Thank you for sharing waitbrazil. I think what youd want to say is the muse of McCartney

  • She was 16??

  • 19...

  • Cara, muito bom!

  • Thanks for sharing...It has been MANY years since hearing it....

  • I have the Wonderwall Music LP i think it is, with Mary Hopkin accidentally pressed on the other side.

  • paul was bangin her

  • No doubt about it...

  • DEFINATELY!!

  • That was sort of "Peter of Paul in Mary " Yuk, Yuk

  • I would.

  • LOL Paul Mccarthney's soo into the songs He's all nodding his head like "YEAH,YOU HEARIN" THIS!".... I love this song!

  • This song is great, Mary is so pretty and i totally love her voice! by the way, Paul look so hot in 1:06 - 1:10 ... LOL

  • wow paul should have ask marry to marry him what a fox

  • Yeah, i should have figured that...she was very young.....ok, thanks for writing!!!

  • I always thought that Paul and Mary should have been an item....

  • Yes, yes....

  • She was only 16 (I think) at the time. Not so sure how well that would have gone down. Plus, he'd already hooked up with LInda for a while by the time this came out.

  • I don't think that would have worked.

  • @forbiddenvalley word she's more prettier than that ugly blonde linda

  • @forbiddenvalley I'm sure paul thought the same thing. hah

  • @forbiddenvalley There's the matter of Linda plus a age gap of several years between them

  • @forbiddenvalley Yes.... but I think he was still dating Jane Asher at the time and, besides, who says the decision would be his entirelyu? A pretty little thing like Mary could have her pick of the bunch any time.

  • Mary was the first artist signed to Apple I think. I know my family had the single 'Those were the days" b/w Turn turn turn.

  • The people who watched "Come back next week" . You should have been there.

    Every Saturday Night. Hughi Green..

  • LOL I hope

  • Aw, I thought it was going to be a duet!Good song, anyway. Paul looks pleased with how the recording turned out.

  • They called her "Butter Lips"..

  • Grifiki

    ?? who's they?

  • I'm sure Paul tapped that ass..

  • I would certainly hope so

  • Hell yeah! = D

  • haha pauls acting wierd

  • This is rare.

  • This is a TIME when music was kind, fun and happy. NOT making statements. JUST FUN..............

  • That's what I'm saying!! = D

  • this was done on the very day of paul`s marriage to linda.

  • I thought this was 1968... didn't Paul and Linda get married in 1969?

  • except she shows signs of talent

  • あ、ベッツィ&クリスだ!

    違うわ!(笑)

  • こらこら;D

  • I love Paul jamming and she's just standing there.

  • have you ever seen anything so beautiful as mary? oh

  • @gstuart01

    Paul McCartney? :)

  • What an amazing voice, everytime you hear her sing it's just great! Thanks for the great video!

  • Outstanding as evaluated by Lace-Bryan Productions. Shanon Lace.

  • Paul is the man

  • knowing Paul the pimp, he hit that.

    18.2 times.

  • I think she was pre -Linda vintage.

  • Except she was hot, could play and instrument and could sing. Respect to Linda though.

  • I just discovered this song while listening to my grandma's records collection, i like the song, it's kinda cute...

  • do u notice how she takes so many deep noticeable breaths?

  • I remember the review in NME the week ending april 5 1969 when goodbye was reviewed ; the reporter wrote "she could do with song training because she tends to gasp occasionally but it doesn't take away the overall effect" I agree

  • just lovely

  • Thanks you com...:)

  • awesomeness thanks braz

  • Is McCartney drunk or goo goo eyed over Mary in this video?

  • is not drunk, he is so even if he delivered entirely the work it produces ...

Paul breathe music ... so the Beatles reached the top of the world!

  • He is trying to sing the song to her, he is also rehearsing backing vocalists which you do not see in this clip... this film is much longer in its entirity...

    Pat

  • Pat, thanks !!! you com...:)

  • Well said Pat.

    Cheers- Pat.

  • Look like Peter Asher's there.

  • Yes it is peter Asher

he worked on a lot of Mary's recordings while at Apple

  • Really ?

I thought he is Richard Hewson...

  • No the guy in the film is Peter Asher, Richard Hewson was an arranger

I am not 100% certain, but I do not think he had much input on Goodbye.

I have only ever seen a couple of pictures of him!

  • I think you can see both Peter Asher and Richard Hewson in this film and it even says on the 45 of Goodbye arranged by Richard Hewson and on Sparrow as well and is mentioned in the book Those were the Days why Tony Visconti contacted Richard Hewson when he wanted to record Let my name be sorrow he used Hewson too and with Rich Wakeman on piano!

  • I'll say that for Paul- for giving this song to Máry

  • thanks you com..hugs!

  • This is the closest thing to a duet that TWO singers can possibly get, whereby only ONE of the performers is actually doing all the singing.

A super song, showcasing 2 fabulous singers.

    Great video!

  • unbelievable - a heavenly voice and she looks like a doll - so pretty and gifted.

  • Damn, she was very cute!

  • Mary was born in Pontardawe, Wales to a Welsh-speaking family. She released an EP of Welsh language songs for a local record label called Cambrian who were based in her home town, before signing to the Beatles' Apple Records. The model Twiggy saw her winning the British ITV television talent show Opportunity Knocks and recommended her to Paul McCartney.[1] She became one of the first artists to record on the Beatles' Apple record label.

  • Hi!

It's correct information but you have to write the reference [1] you have cited.

  • great!! i love it!!

  • Paul uses his right hand to smoke because being a "south paw" was still looked down upon during his childhood so his Father tried to get him to use his right hand as much as possible even though he was left handed. Sometimes he uses the right, sometimes he uses the left.

  • It possible to see that it is a Beatles style...

  • Very nice !
