  • Merry Christmas Dave!!!!

  • Hey Dave - love yr blog - esp the one about the Rigol 50MHz - I've got one! I'm looking at buying a fluke 289 and one of the things that you didnt mention about it that I think will be well worth while is the milliohm resistance scale, measuring coils, contacts, earth lines, FETs etc. it's just something a normal multi wont do

  • "Porn for engineers", that was my favourite comment. Only our kind understand it lol

  • @stdavross666 Please stop making stupid comments. Everyone has a different voice.

  • I remember the main driving decision to purchase the meter was that I had heard most of the low end fluke meters were being manufactured in China.

  • I'm an industrial service electrician working on aged machinery, I've had the 289 since is was first released, extremely happy with so far.

I'm moving to Sydney in a few weeks and would be happy to lend it to you for tearing apart

  • Those probs ARE sick! "Porn for engineers"LOL The best part is only engineers actually understand the rest of the video. That's interesting that Fluke built with off-the-shelf hardware. Do they use proprietary software? Sounds like I could have my advanced students build one themselves! Could you ever figure out where the amp draw came from?

  • @johneastmond The software they use is called flukeview forms

  • Sex on a stick!! PORN for engineers!!!! xD

  • hey dave....."you piece of shit" lmao....good job....there is a new UNI-T UT71E out there, the price is way above the UNI-T meter you used in your $100 shootout. Can you please do a review on the sucker, I really like this one, after your review, i will know if im getting it or not. I also like the YOKOGAWA TY720, TY530, please compare them. You know we love your "sex on a stick" , "piece of shit" and some of that gestures you do lmao.....keep up the good work dave...

  • I hope that meter doubles as a stun gun with all those batteries :-).

  • I think the start up time for the 289 is abysmal. I hate having to wait for the meter to boot up, compared to the instantaneous power-up of the 87, for example.

  • My supervising tradesmen have these(I'm an apprentice BTW)- Lot of features, but they're pretty damn clunky- The start up wait is what gets me most of the time. When I turn a meter on, I'm ready to take a measurement, not go and make myself a cuppa while the damn thing boots up. Call it youthful impatience, but I really like my 179 and 117 for this reason.

Oh, and we are agreed- the TL910s are brilliant when you want to measure a single SMD component, and not the other three next to it -_-

  • Great video as always Dave! By the way, does anybody know the model number of the probes? Cheers

  • TL910, $50..... there is this thing called google now a days.

  • PORN FOR ENGINEERS LOL! XD!!!!

I would actually love those probes.

  • Hey Dave, how's that spelt? 'pawn' or 'porn'?

I'm guessing that 'pawn' applies to what you might be hoping to do to the older scopes you have in the background and 'porn' applies to these sexier 'nubile' probes. May I suggest 'probilicious'!

    Great stuff again regardless!
