More often than not, people that are drowning won't make a sound. That is because that when yoju can't breathe, you can't make a sound. Take it from a former lifeguard. This is fail.

Ummm, they actually did a nice job. Lack the amount seriousness to it. But the rescue itself was well done. head was above. Could have been more "Your going to be ok" etc. Just the misleading of the title is what makes all of go WHAT THE FUCK?

Why would you want to put a video on youtube on how to save a drowning person?

(1. Saving someone who is drowning is a high-risk situation and could be a life-threating sitaution espically for people who are not trained like lifeguards!!!

(2. Lifeguards are trained in Defences and Releases to protect ourselves in the event of a victim grabbing an hold of us, non-lifeguards would have no idea what to do expect drown with them becoming a "double-clutch

Is anyone here certified? People made comments that a real lifeguard should never make. As far as this video goes, nothing was drastically wrong (active drownings are the most easy rescues). As for head/neck/back injuries...that would require you to see what happened to the victim (diving inmshallow water), plus you don't stride jump, you slide in to the pool to avoid making waves. Then you use head/chin support or head splint to rescue....being a lifeguard is exactly what it sounds like....

In any case, I enjoyed watching it because I believe it was played for laughs, and I thought it was funny.

It's possible to have someone in distress on the surface. Lifeguards also have to jump in for people who go into deep water and realize they can't swim. And honestly, if the victim is on the bottom of the pool by the time you notice them, then there's something wrong with you as a lifeguard.
