If weed was never discovered no one would ever miss it. We didn't need it when we were 5 or 10 and we don't need it now. People only want it because they were introduced it and like it.
I used to smoke it all the time, but realized in the long run it doesn't make life any better. It feels good when you smoke, but the absence of it makes life boring. Over times your tolerance for it builds up. I would much rather workout and be healthy. Weed slowed me down and took my motivation away.

Cheech has become so latincentric he's a dick about everything now.All his cooking has to be ethnic,everything he does is related to heritage and that's goofy,the drugs from his early years have taken their toll and Chong was always the funny one anyhow.
These two made movies glorifying drug use,that's wrong.My friends and I use to get all baked and watch their movies and they were funnier when your ripped,well I don't get high anymore and hind site is 20/20 and looking back now I can see how stupid using drugs is.Pot is a drug!I had been quit for 10 years and took one hit of some of todays herb a year ago and it was so potent,definitely a drug.I don't drink either but a glass of wine you may not feel but a hit of the herb I smoked was overkill
pot was great on pizza, takes care of the munchies - catching 'em & satisfying 'em same X...."WHORES & HEROIN"......search that on YouTube...&..."IBEW drummer"........

Ann Coulter couldn't debate a dog about a dogshit. Her whole argument here is "I'm against it... because." Yeah, very real scientific, socially sound reasoning, Ann. How many pills did you have to pop to get that bleach-blonde anorexic Alice Cooper look? The only people against legalizing weed are either those who make money from it ILLEGALLY, or are just stupid. Because, you know, you're supporting fucking drug dealers.
I liked how civil this debate was in comparison to many other Fox debates where people don't appear to be listening to each other as much as thinking about how they are going to reply.Way to go Cheech & Chong!!!
Until the federal government comes to its senses and declares the war against drugs (Marijuana) over, we're stuck with vague and contradictory state and local laws. And really, regulating marijuana isn't exactly rocket science.
“Marijuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing!”
“Smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother!”
“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death!”
“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind!”
It was THESE kind of claims that were disseminated to justify prohibition of pot. And newspapers across the US would follow suit with equally absurd headlines.
“There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others!”“
"The primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races!”
“Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men!”
@bluegsp if you are a conservative you do not want "legalization" that implies it can be taxed, and regulated, if the 21st century has taught us anything, it is they can not be trusted with a budget! what you want is decriminalization , If I have a pocket full of dandelions, I can not be arrested or taxed, that is the status pot should have.
Its ridiculous that people who are sick or people who like pot are treated like criminals for possesion of marijuana! Cigarettes that contain terrible chemicals and is proven to cause cancer is legal but a natural growing plant is considered horrible! Marijuana's medical benefits far out way the the cons! And people who are to narrow minded to see that like Ann Coulter say it should be illegal! Marijuana helps Aids, cancer and other patients and who knows what else it could help! RON PAUL 2012!
I am a huge fan of ann and I am very disappointed in her, she should have been arguing for decriminalization instead of legalization,(legalization implies they get to tax it,if there is one thing the 21st century has taught us, politicians can not be trusted with a budget.Even will Buckley was in favor of that, I would like Ann to look us straight in the eye and tell us the conservative capitalist reason for keeping hemp illegal.
@catboxcatboxcatbox have you ever read any of her books ? You might be surprised if you were to read "treason"" or "godless" or "guilty" , in addition to doing her homework she is a very readable writer, I realize that she is very controversial among some conservatives because she is a member in good standing of the log cabin republicans, a gay organization, and because she is a life long follower of the grateful dead, as a capitalist, these things don't bother me.
@halloranedward Thanks for the input I had not heard of those rulings. I will look them up. I have always personally blamed the person drinking, not the alcohol. Personal choice is always overlooked in our quest for political correctness and displaced resposibility.
Has anyone noticed that Cheech and Chong's stated position is they want it schedule 2, by prescription, and specifically answered Geraldo's statement about them wanting it like booze with a NO WE DONT WANT IT LIKE BOOZE but Ann Cunter clearly states their opinion incorrectly and when they tried to correct her she just talked over them. These idiot cunts who are 'in charge' will literally not even hear logic or reason when you speak to them.
@bennyboyjones Well I think its filthy and people become lazy of it. I know people that smoke everyday. I dont know I just think it shouldnt be legal.
@MrTechnohound in the state of missouri there are an average of 500 deaths per year due to alcohol over dose, that does not count long term degenerative affects of alcohol. And of course even though alcoholism has been proven to be a fake disease, alcohol is highly addictive, and the only drug witch can have fatal withdrawal symptoms, there is no fatal dosage of pot, and it is non-addictive.
@halloranedward You state that alcoholism is proven to be fake, I've never read that. I have no issue with legalization of pot. I grew up with drunk parents, and I do not drink for that reason. I don't blame the alcohol, I blame those who chose to drink. I think marijuana will be much the same. There are people who will abuse it. It doesn't matter if it's dope or dog food people tend to abuse. I would like to know where the fake alcoholism statement came from? Not to argue, just to know.
@tyeedwrds look up the definition of alcoholism, and then ask what the difference between an "alcoholic" and a person who drinks too much,and or too often, there is no scientific definition of "alcoholic" in 1996 six state supreme courts agreed with the ruling that AA is not an institution of scientific medical research, but a religious cult, and that "alcoholism" is one of there mythology's.Therefor you cannot be forced to join, or pay for "alcoholism" "therapy" (see hillary care).
@halloranedward The things that you just spewed on this site is 100% completely false. The American Medical Association has recognized addiction as a disease sense the 1950's. Scientist around the globe have done studies....especially neuroscientists that study the brain. They have concluded that their were chemical and biological changes in the addicted brain. Certain areas lit up that didn't in nonaddicted brains. You are just another idiot that is following politicians...not scientists.
@Flipper79able where there is enough money you can buy fake evidence of anything. look how many "scientist" found proof of global warming before the hoax was debunked. Did you know that there are almost no real doctors in the AMA anymore? that is because shrinks bought their way into it in the fifty's, no one has ever found an "addiction gene" or found an alcoholic before they drank. look at the definition of "alcoholic" it is a fake disease, and you know it.
@halloranedward P.S.- Everyone knows A.A. is not a scientific community. It's a group setting were addicts can talk about there problems...kind of like therapy. If you think that's a cult than therapy is a cult too. Just keep following the advice of politicians over scientists..tell me how that works out. I mean after all politicians in this country don't believe in evolution or climate change. You sound about as smart as these politicians. I should thank you though for the entertainment. Retard
@Flipper79able it is politicians who are in favor of recognizing alcoholism as a disease, there is massive amounts of grants fed/state to be had, and no chance of law suits. scientist,real scientist, all know that the definition of alcoholism is subjective. there is no such disease, and no medical scientist thinks so , only politicians.
@tyeedwrds I'm in college and have taken several courses in addiction. Believe me...this guy is talking out of his ass when he says alcoholism isn't real. Scientists around the world including the American Medical Association have seen addiction as a disease sense the 1950's. Scientists conclusively agree that addiction is real,it's politicians that don't agree...the same politicians that don't believe in evolution or climate change. They are lying so they don't have to pay for certain programs.
@Flipper79able see above, no real scientist believe that alcoholism is a disease, it is part of the mythology of the pseudo-science religion , only politicians promote the myth that it is a disease. did you know that shopoholism was recognized as a disease 4 years ago ?
@halloranedward speaking of addictions , I like : pot , was great on pizza, takes care of the munchies - catching 'em & satisfying 'em same X...."WHORES & HEROIN"......search that on YouTube...&..."IBEW drummer"........
.."drummer boy falls for YOU live"..."early morning inspired"..
....If it don't hurt my neighbor by doing it - make it legal........."Whores & Heroin" ..on YouTube...prostitution & drug dealing is the only American jobs not completely out sourced these days
@hanzouoftherain First off, when you allow it to rule your life. I have no problem with people either drinking or toking it once in a while. I just hate to see people make it there whole life. Catching a buzz either way is Ok as long as you don't have to have it every single day. I gave it all up when I saw some friends who just couldn't let go. But if you're referring to overdosing on it, I'm not sure how?
@tyeedwrds I smoke every single day and night and I work for a school. lol It doesn't control me. It becomes more of a hobby than anything. But it is absurd to see alcohol and tobacco kill thousands of people every year and it's legal, but marijuana, the notorious plant that hasn't killed a single person is still illegal. Some people need to wake up. Plain and simple.
Why do people think that alcohol is somehow different from drugs?...It IS a drug! If you drink alcohol, YOU DO DRUGS... and a much harder drug than pot! Bring back alcohol prohibition, or legalize pot! Anything else is complete hypocrisy! ... and this is coming from someone who hasn't touched drugs in over a decade. You don't have to be a "pot head" to wish to end this incredibly illogical,invasive,unconstitutional, bankruptcy program we call "the war on drugs".
I like that Geraldo is actually understanding when this chick is so anti-legalization, calling people "insane" and such for thinking that it should be legal
alcohol kills hundreds of thousands every year and definitely causes cancer, marijuana had lead to millions of people feeling hungry and does not cause cancer. seems like quite a simple argument
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies." -C.S. Lewis
What is with these two slapdicks? Do they not realize that they are part of the problem by portraying marijuana in such an idiotic way? I bet the mainstream media loves interviewing these two clowns just to make all marijuana users look like shit. They need to realize that they are making it tougher for medicinal users to be taken serious. Please go away Cheech and Chong, find another way to make money.
* Fifty-four percent of mid-western voters now support legalizing marijuana, up 22 percent from 2005. On the west coast, 55 percent of respondents back reform, an increase of 15 percent.
* Sixty-two percent of those aged 18 to 29 and 56 percent of those aged 30 to 49 endorse legalization, a jump of 23 percent and 17 percent respectively.
* Among both Democrat and Independent voters, 57 percent favor legalizing cannabis, an increase of 16 percent and 11 percent respectively.
ok can someone do me a favour and explain to me why you think i shouldnt be aload smoke weed even though its not hurtin any body i think i should be the one to choose what i consume not some person who iv never even met
An objective law protects a country’s freedom; only a non-objective law can give a statist the chance he seeks: a chance to impose his arbitrary will—his policies, his decisions, his interpretations, his enforcement, his punishment or favor—on disarmed, defenseless victims.
At an estimated $35.8 billion marijuana is by far the largest cash crop in the United States when compared to the average production values of other crops from 2003 to 2005. (Production values for other crops were obtained from the Department of Agriculture. [22])
Pot is one of the few drugs that grows and is taken 100% naturally.
You get the plant, you smoke the plant, that's it.
No processing, no additions, no changing of anything, it's 100% natural.
So governments puts laws on nature.
I'm not saying legalize it like some 12th grader who just discovered Bill Maher, but at least be smart enough to decriminalize it. Fighting it costs shitloads of money and has no positive effects.
Man has been ingesting drugs long before there were laws. Pot has medicinal value that's why drug companies mimic pot with their BS chemical expensive pills. About getting high - who cares - we make people criminals because they want to get high - nonsense. God forbid if someone wants to feel good. In this so-called free country, who's business is it what food or drug people want to put in their body?
How can Coulter admit on the one hand that pot is easy to get now, and on the other doesn't want to decriminalize it because alcohol creates problems for society. Don't we face those problems (impaired driving, for example) anyway, but wouldn't have the problems prohibition poses (gang violence, prison overcrowding, and gateway drugs) if it were legal? I just don't see how there's another "side" to this "issue". There's reality and wishful thinking, that's it.
Last time I checked you can't overdose on pot. Alcohol causes death and tobacco causes severe addiction. Weed does neither. The real reason cannabis is still illegal under federal law is because the government doesn't want to admit they were wrong. Alcohol makes man stupid, weed creates meditation.
The REAL reason is the alcohol and tobacco lobbies have a lot of money and a lot of pull in DC. In the iconic words of Deep Throat, "Follow the Money."
@GrassValleyGreg Well then you just totally contradicted yourself. You speculated in previous posts with me that legalization would not lead to new users, thereby not putting a dent in alcohol or tobacco sales/use. Why with the other side of your mind are you now thinking that the alcohol and tobacco lobbies are using their money and influence to keep marijuana illegal? If you're so convinced that legalization won't lead to more people using the drug, why would they care?
I drove a cab on nightshift for a few years . I am more than happy to tell anyone about the shit I have seen go down thanks to intoxicated , boozed off their skulls men AND women . I have never seen any offensive behavior from stoners . The government should have control over distribution of ALL drugs ....like alcohol, cigarettes , weed , and cocaine. First , they would save / make money. Second......some of these cheesebrains really need help !
Ask any college campus cop how often they have problems with potheads other than the illegal act of possessing and consuming the pot itself, they will almost to a man reply "None."
Some movies and music make "stoner" culture seem cool, natural and like it's not a big deal. But if being fit and getting good grades are some of your goals, using marijuana can become a big deal, fast. Marijuana limits your brain's effectiveness, slows your thinking and impairs your coordination. A number of studies have also shown an association between chronic marijuana use and increased rates of anxiety, depression and schizophrenia
I don't think anybody has a problem with medical marijuana...at least I don't. But when you start talking about making it legal for any idiot to walk into a store and buy it, then I think it gets dangerous. As an herb, it has medical value and should be allowed to be used in that capacity, but when misused as a recreational drug, the effects can be harmful to society in general and I think it should be left illegal for recreational purposes.
FAR more harm is done to society by the laws than the pot in virtually every respect. The war on pot is insanity defined. You can't stop stupid people from doing stupid things with stupid laws. Stop wasting time, money, resources and lives on this.
@GrassValleyGreg your right, they tried prohibition on the drug alcohol and everything that happens with drugs now (crime, violence, illegal production, deaths from bad batches, gang wars over routes/turf etc..)was true with alcohol..
@merrittolsen Why is that always the defense? You don't want to discuss the potential dangers to society of legalizing Marijuana, instead you just change the subject to talk about the dangers of alcohol which are already quite well documented. One has nothing to do with the other, unless you think that people will suddenly stop getting drunk once marijuana is legalized and unless you have some evidence that society will be safer with all of those people stoned instead of boozed.
@GrassValleyGreg The difference is that in order to get it you have to be willing to break the law. That's a big barrier for a lot of people who might potentially consider getting into it. That ensures that a large chunk of society stays away and those potential damages are mitigated as much as possible. Just because you have no respect for the law doesn't mean that the rest of the people don't. Society is better off without access to psychoactive narcotics in every 7-11.
I have no respect for impractical laws that do nothing but harm, absolutely right; but you didn't quite answer my question. So a "large chunk of society" (which is entirely speculation on your part) will try it out, and then what will happen?
I asked for "potential dangers"... Potential dangers that outweigh all the money, resources, and time that is put into enforcing this joke of a prohibition, and worth branding people as drug offenders for life over a joint.
@GrassValleyGreg Whether or not you respect the law, it's still the law. It doesn't apply to you any less.
If only one life is saved by all the resources that go into prohibition it's worth it in my opinion, and should be in yours as well. That life might belong to somebody you care about.
Potential dangers of course are people driving while under the influence, people who react badly to the effects of the drug, people who use it and get lazy and don't support themselves
@GrassValleyGreg And "a large chunk" is not speculation on my part. Look at statistics of people who have been convicted of a drug related crime vs. people who have not. The "nots" are far and away in the majority.
It is 100% speculation on your part that the "large chunk" will light up if it's legalized. People who really want to smoke it already can- so people who don't want to smoke it...DON'T WANT TO SMOKE IT!!! lol. And I would think that those who "react badly" (whatever that means) will also not want to smoke it again! And if one is lazy, pot or no, that's their problem. You can't stop stupid people from doing stupid things with stupid laws. Just does more harm than good.
@GrassValleyGreg And it is 100% speculation on your part that those people will not light up as well. It's illegality is a deterrant to anybody with a maturity level higher than that of a 12 year old boy. Whether or not there are no harmful effects on society, it doesn't matter, because those people who are not smoking and not risking illegal purchase are doing so because it's illegal already, so those effects wouldn't be felt anyway. What exactly is your point?
People who don't smoke don't WANT to smoke! Simply a lack of desire. Would you smoke if it were legal JUST because it were legal? In any case, even if said "large chunk" WERE to smoke some pot...SO WHAT?!? They are NOT doing anything criminal, so why make it a crime? All you do is waste money, clog courts, help real criminals prosper and punish innocents. If they commit a crime or drive while high, then convict them of THAT crime. But just smoking the stuff? Nonsense.
@GrassValleyGreg But the point is that they are doing something criminal. Buying, possessing, and using marijuana are all illegal, it requires a mind that is willing to break the law in order to do any of those three things. That stops a lot of people from doing it, therefore any consequences of them having done it are rendered null and void and the problem is contained to a small criminal element of society.
@Bystander81 Using Marijuana is not a crime, only possession and sale. DUI is illegal, but that is specific circumstance. Jay-walking is illegal, yet thousands of people commit it daily.
I'm assuming that you have the exact same arguments against Alcohol, correct?
No, the real point is people who are just smoking pot are not hurting anyone or anything... And keeping it illegal causes far more problems to society and ruins the reputations of countless "good guys" because they smoked a joint one time. Meanwhile the drug cartels keep running, bodies pile up on the border, and we spend billions and billions to stop it- and it's not worth stopping! We ended the prohibition on alcohol almost 100 years ago! Why? Same exact reason.
@GrassValleyGreg Now you're trying to change the subject again back to alcohol, which has nothing to do with marijuana.
Keeping marijuana illegal is a deterrent that keeps the drug contained among the population, thereby minimizing the harmful effects to society. Debate that point as it's the only one I'm making. I'm almost starting to regret that I'm continuing to reply to you as you seem to be using this discussion as a soap box more than an intelligent exchange of ideas.
I was actually providing an analogy- Prohibition of alcohol caused the same problems as the War on Pot... Unenforceable law, real criminals prosper while average folks get locked up, etc.
Your "point" is actually a theory; the "harmful effects" is an assumption, as is mass proliferation if pot were to become legal. Prosecuting good people who aren't harming anyone hurts society worse than anything. Perhaps we should illegalize everything based on hypotheticals?
@GrassValleyGreg No, we should not criminalize everything based on "hypotheticals", but there is nothing hypothetical about the fact that marijuana is a dangerous psychoactive narcotic. It should be controlled, just like all drugs. In this case, that control means criminalization unless you live in a state that has allowed its use for medical purposes with the proper prescription (which I have no problem with). But if 10 frat guys want to smoke up and go for a joyride, no.
I never said that there aren't people who avoid it because it's illegal, there surely are- I took issue with your assumption that a "large chunk" of people would automatically light up. And I'm sure you're familiar with the Partnership for a Drug-Free America... Well they were heavily funded by alcohol, tobacco, and Pharma companies from the start until about 15 years ago when this was revealed to the public. At which point, the alcohol and tobacco were dropped lol.
@GrassValleyGreg You most certainly said that criminalization is not a deterrent and you said that legalization would not create any more users. You said that everybody who wants to use it is using it already.
I never said that a large chunk of people would automatically light up, I said that the deterrent preventing them from potentially using would be gone and those thereby increasing the probability for the consequences to negatively affect society.
I don't believe criminalization is the deterrent you make it out to be, absolutely not. As i painstakingly said earlier, Coulter is correct- pot is very prevalent, it is almost hard to get caught, and most people who really want to try it out can... Most people who don't smoke have a moral issue with it, or they have young kids, or they have a job that randomly tests, etc... And guess what? Even if marijuana were fully legal NONE of that would change ONE BIT!
(Cont...) But in any case, that's MY belief- The Legal drug companies would rather not take the risk and thus fund PDF. So no, I did not contradict myself. I was not talking to you, and it was not part of our discussion.
@GrassValleyGreg You definitely contradicted yourself. You said that criminalization was not a deterrent, and that legalization would not lead to any new users of the drug. Then on the other hand you said that the "REAL" reason it's illegal is because of the alcohol and tobacco lobbies. If those above two points are true, then on what basis would the alcohol and tobaccos lobbies want it to remain illegal? And if none of that would change one bit, then why legalize?
You understand that I don't work for the tobacco and alcohol lobby, right? You get that THEY fund anti drug programs, not me- yes? Why ELSE would they do that? Hmm...
Personally, I think they're overreacting. Understand? That's MY position.
And you legalize pot because it isn't a threat to society and never was. The government spends tons of money enforcing useless laws when it could be MAKING money taxing it. Punishing people for doing nothing wrong.... is WRONG!
@GrassValleyGreg But they are doing something wrong, they're breaking the law, that's the entire point. It's necessary to be willing to break the law in order to buy, possess, or use marijuana, and no matter what way you cut it, it's wrong to break the law. If it's really that much of a problem for you then perhaps you should move to Canada or Holland.
I guess, but the question here is, should the activity be illegal at all? Is it so egregious that it is worth legal prohibition? I think most people by now understand that the answer is no- that pot is NOT dangerous enough (or at all) either to the individual or society to justify it. And, as with the prohibition of alcohol, the aim of getting rid of the stuff is, was, and forever will be a complete failure. But again, it's not dangerous so why get rid of it at all?
@GrassValleyGreg And I would agree with you if you were speaking only of its medical value, for which it should most certainly be legalized when one has the proper prescriptions and medical supervision. But as a recreational drug, it should remain illegal to possess and use just like all other prescription medications. Those drugs are controlled for a reason, marijuana should fall into the same category, so I still support criminalization.
Yes, those drugs are controlled because if you mess up with those things you WILL be in SERIOUS trouble (hell, if you're amongst the unlucky few who suffers some of those God-awful side effects they TELL you about, you might be in serious trouble lol), and that's if you're lucky enough to survive the ordeal at all. What about marijuana justifies such control? Paranoia? Munchies? You couldn't kill yourself with pot if you TRIED lol. It's not even in the same league.
@GrassValleyGreg It most certainly is in the same league, it's a psychoactive narcotic that alters mental states and can induce hallucinations. It most certainly should be kept out of the hands of the general public. Other drugs require a prescription and don't affect the mind as hard as marijuana, why aren't you on here calling for them to be legalized and available to everybody over the counter with no control whatsoever? There's a whole slew of them are psychoactive, too.
ALL stimulants are psychoactive! So is aspirin! So?
And let's get this straight. I am NOT advocating for OTC- I think it should be the equivalent to alcohol. 21 and over to buy, license to sell, taxes, etc. Because it IS safer- I know you hate that point, but it is.
Secondly, you can't OD on weed, fatally or otherwise. Smoke too much, you fall asleep. It's not a psychadelic trip or anything like it- which is what people who have never smoked all seem to think...
@GrassValleyGreg So then if you get the same psychoactive experience from aspirin then why isn't the entire world using it instead of weed? You know that's a weak point and that marijuana is in a way different class.
I know marijuana is not a "psychedelic trip", but it does alter mental states, alter moods, affect perceptions of reality, possibly induce hallucinations, and impair judgment. It has no business in the hands of the general public for recreational purposes.
Yea, pot IS in a different class. You can easily kill yourself with aspirin.
My point is 'psychoactive' doesn't inherently mean dangerous, as you seemed to be implying. Pot does NOT make you hallucinate- it's a very subtle high. I know you've got your book handy, but just ask anyone with first hand experience- especially someone who's actually hallucinated on something, like acid. Pot's just relaxing. That's it. And yes, it alters your state to 'calmer'. Yikes!
@GrassValleyGreg What I'm saying is that it's a drug and will effect all of its users differently. Delta 9 THC is a psychoactive chemical compound that does have the potential to induce hallucinations, on top of its many other side effects. It will affect everybody in a different way, depending on their mental state and distribution of brain chemicals. Since everybody's mental constructs are different, it should not be available for recreational use to the general public.
What I'm saying is that the general public is already uses it, have been for 2000 years- no evidence of said "side effects" having any effect on society. Probably because it isn't dangerous. This law is a complete waste of money and resources and only makes everything you fear (legit and otherwise) more likely to happen. As it stands, no regulations on potency, no age limit, no license needed to sell. Just cash. And tag people who are harmlessly relaxing as criminals.
@GrassValleyGreg That still doesn't change the fact that mind altering narcotics have no business being legal for any and everybody to go pick up at the corner store with absolutely no regulation. If you want to make the case that it should be legal for medical purposes with the proper restrictions and medical supervision, I will never disagree with that. I support it 100%. But letting every Tom, Dick, and Harry get their hands on psychoactive narcotics for fun...no way.
@Bystander81 Bystander, I do have to disagree. Not against your case, just against your reasons for legalizing. Think about how much of Taxpayers' money goes toward "The War on Drugs".
Every Tom, Dick, and Harry are already getting their hands on it... We as a nation might as well benefit.
We are born with free-will. If we want to smoke some weed, dammit we are going to find some.
@dannyruxspin And homicide being a crime doesn't stop it from happening either, think of all the money we spend on the "war on murder", all of the money that goes into the scientific investigation of new crime solving technologies. If you want somebody dead, dammit, they're going to die. Might as well legalize it as well if it's so expensive, right?
I know that's an absurd comparison, but on a moral level it draws equivalency using your logic. Things are illegal for a reason.
@Bystander81 What? so you were born into this system so it has to automatically be right?. you cant think for yourself? GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS. marijuana is only illegal to this day because theres too many people making too much money off of it. your country has private prisons...if thats not fucked up i dont know what is
@Bystander81 well who the hell are you to say a person can't do marijuana. the government has no right making a plant illegal, plus it's just a stupid thing to do in the first place.
@slashes1122 Who am I? I'm a member of society that will have to deal with the repercussions if psychoactive narcotics are made available to the general public for recreational purposes. Like I told the last guy, if you want to legalize it for medical purposes with the proper prescriptions and medical supervision, I'm 100% on board. Nothing wrong with it. But turning a mind altering chemical substance loose on an already largely mentally infirm population is just reckless.
@Bystander81 it's stupid making it illegal when people want to smoke it. it's a matter of education to get people to stop. And you still have no right to say a person can't smoke it for recreational use. America is a constitutional republic not a democracy. a person can smoke it if he/she wants to. a good portion of the public admit to using it, and the only repercussions come from prohibition.
Promote change through laughter! Dats what I'm talking bout. :-)

I used to smoke it all the time, but realized in the long run it doesn't make life any better. It feels good when you smoke, but the absence of it makes life boring. Over times your tolerance for it builds up. I would much rather workout and be healthy. Weed slowed me down and took my motivation away.

“Smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother!”
“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death!”
“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind!”

MrTechnohound 3 weeks ago
@MrTechnohound in the state of missouri there are an average of 500 deaths per year due to alcohol over dose, that does not count long term degenerative affects of alcohol. And of course even though alcoholism has been proven to be a fake disease, alcohol is highly addictive, and the only drug witch can have fatal withdrawal symptoms, there is no fatal dosage of pot, and it is non-addictive.
halloranedward 3 weeks ago
@halloranedward You state that alcoholism is proven to be fake, I've never read that. I have no issue with legalization of pot. I grew up with drunk parents, and I do not drink for that reason. I don't blame the alcohol, I blame those who chose to drink. I think marijuana will be much the same. There are people who will abuse it. It doesn't matter if it's dope or dog food people tend to abuse. I would like to know where the fake alcoholism statement came from? Not to argue, just to know.
tyeedwrds 3 weeks ago 11
@tyeedwrds look up the definition of alcoholism, and then ask what the difference between an "alcoholic" and a person who drinks too much,and or too often, there is no scientific definition of "alcoholic" in 1996 six state supreme courts agreed with the ruling that AA is not an institution of scientific medical research, but a religious cult, and that "alcoholism" is one of there mythology's.Therefor you cannot be forced to join, or pay for "alcoholism" "therapy" (see hillary care).
halloranedward 3 weeks ago
@halloranedward The things that you just spewed on this site is 100% completely false. The American Medical Association has recognized addiction as a disease sense the 1950's. Scientist around the globe have done studies....especially neuroscientists that study the brain. They have concluded that their were chemical and biological changes in the addicted brain. Certain areas lit up that didn't in nonaddicted brains. You are just another idiot that is following politicians...not scientists.
Flipper79able 1 week ago
@Flipper79able where there is enough money you can buy fake evidence of anything. look how many "scientist" found proof of global warming before the hoax was debunked. Did you know that there are almost no real doctors in the AMA anymore? that is because shrinks bought their way into it in the fifty's, no one has ever found an "addiction gene" or found an alcoholic before they drank. look at the definition of "alcoholic" it is a fake disease, and you know it.
halloranedward 1 week ago
@halloranedward P.S.- Everyone knows A.A. is not a scientific community. It's a group setting were addicts can talk about there problems...kind of like therapy. If you think that's a cult than therapy is a cult too. Just keep following the advice of politicians over scientists..tell me how that works out. I mean after all politicians in this country don't believe in evolution or climate change. You sound about as smart as these politicians. I should thank you though for the entertainment. Retard
Flipper79able 1 week ago
@Flipper79able it is politicians who are in favor of recognizing alcoholism as a disease, there is massive amounts of grants fed/state to be had, and no chance of law suits. scientist,real scientist, all know that the definition of alcoholism is subjective. there is no such disease, and no medical scientist thinks so , only politicians.

@tyeedwrds I'm in college and have taken several courses in addiction. Believe me...this guy is talking out of his ass when he says alcoholism isn't real. Scientists conclusively agree that addiction is real,it's politicians that don't agree...the same politicians that don't believe in evolution or climate change. They are lying so they don't have to pay for certain programs.

Pot is one of the few drugs that grows and is taken 100% naturally.
You get the plant, you smoke the plant, that's it.
No processing, no additions, no changing of anything, it's 100% natural.
So governments puts laws on nature.

Last time I checked you can't overdose on pot. Alcohol causes death and tobacco causes severe addiction. Weed does neither. The real reason cannabis is still illegal under federal law is because the government doesn't want to admit they were wrong. Alcohol makes man stupid, weed creates meditation.

Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
FAR more harm is done to society by the laws than the pot in virtually every respect. The war on pot is insanity defined. You can't stop stupid people from doing stupid things with stupid laws. Stop wasting time, money, resources and lives on this.
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago

GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@Bystander81 the drug alcohol is far more dangerous to society in every respect...
merrittolsen 1 month ago
@merrittolsen Why is that always the defense? You don't want to discuss the potential dangers to society of legalizing Marijuana, instead you just change the subject to talk about the dangers of alcohol which are already quite well documented. One has nothing to do with the other, unless you think that people will suddenly stop getting drunk once marijuana is legalized and unless you have some evidence that society will be safer with all of those people stoned instead of boozed.

prime440 1 month ago
@Bystander81
What potential dangers exist from legalizing something that, as Coulter even says herself, is already readily available and widely used?
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg The difference is that in order to get it you have to be willing to break the law. That's a big barrier for a lot of people who might potentially consider getting into it. That ensures that a large chunk of society stays away and those potential damages are mitigated as much as possible. Just because you have no respect for the law doesn't mean that the rest of the people don't. Society is better off without access to psychoactive narcotics in every 7-11.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg Whether or not you respect the law, it's still the law. It doesn't apply to you any less.
If only one life is saved by all the resources that go into prohibition it's worth it in my opinion, and should be in yours as well. That life might belong to somebody you care about.
Potential dangers of course are people driving while under the influence, people who react badly to the effects of the drug, people who use it and get lazy and don't support themselves
Bystander81 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg And "a large chunk" is not speculation on my part. Look at statistics of people who have been convicted of a drug related crime vs. people who have not. The "nots" are far and away in the majority.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg And it is 100% speculation on your part that those people will not light up as well. It's illegality is a deterrant to anybody with a maturity level higher than that of a 12 year old boy. Whether or not there are no harmful effects on society, it doesn't matter, because those people who are not smoking and not risking illegal purchase are doing so because it's illegal already, so those effects wouldn't be felt anyway. What exactly is your point?
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
Nonsense.
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg But the point is that they are doing something criminal. Buying, possessing, and using marijuana are all illegal, it requires a mind that is willing to break the law in order to do any of those three things. That stops a lot of people from doing it, therefore any consequences of them having done it are rendered null and void and the problem is contained to a small criminal element of society.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81 Using Marijuana is not a crime, only possession and sale. DUI is illegal, but that is specific circumstance. Jay-walking is illegal, yet thousands of people commit it daily.
I'm assuming that you have the exact same arguments against Alcohol, correct?
FuckYeahPatMorris 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg Now you're trying to change the subject again back to alcohol, which has nothing to do with marijuana.
Keeping marijuana illegal is a deterrent that keeps the drug contained among the population, thereby minimizing the harmful effects to society. Debate that point as it's the only one I'm making. I'm almost starting to regret that I'm continuing to reply to you as you seem to be using this discussion as a soap box more than an intelligent exchange of ideas.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg No, we should not criminalize everything based on "hypotheticals", but there is nothing hypothetical about the fact that marijuana is a dangerous psychoactive narcotic. It should be controlled, just like all drugs. In this case, that control means criminalization unless you live in a state that has allowed its use for medical purposes with the proper prescription (which I have no problem with). But if 10 frat guys want to smoke up and go for a joyride, no.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg You most certainly said that criminalization is not a deterrent and you said that legalization would not create any more users. You said that everybody who wants to use it is using it already.
I never said that a large chunk of people would automatically light up, I said that the deterrent preventing them from potentially using would be gone and those thereby increasing the probability for the consequences to negatively affect society.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@Bystander81
(Cont...) But in any case, that's MY belief- The Legal drug companies would rather not take the risk and thus fund PDF. So no, I did not contradict myself. I was not talking to you, and it was not part of our discussion.
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg You definitely contradicted yourself. You said that criminalization was not a deterrent, and that legalization would not lead to any new users of the drug. Then on the other hand you said that the "REAL" reason it's illegal is because of the alcohol and tobacco lobbies. If those above two points are true, then on what basis would the alcohol and tobaccos lobbies want it to remain illegal? And if none of that would change one bit, then why legalize?
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
Punishing people for doing nothing wrong.... is WRONG!
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg But they are doing something wrong, they're breaking the law, that's the entire point. It's necessary to be willing to break the law in order to buy, possess, or use marijuana, and no matter what way you cut it, it's wrong to break the law. If it's really that much of a problem for you then perhaps you should move to Canada or Holland.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg And I would agree with you if you were speaking only of its medical value, for which it should most certainly be legalized when one has the proper prescriptions and medical supervision. But as a recreational drug, it should remain illegal to possess and use just like all other prescription medications. Those drugs are controlled for a reason, marijuana should fall into the same category, so I still support criminalization.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg It most certainly is in the same league, it's a psychoactive narcotic that alters mental states and can induce hallucinations. It most certainly should be kept out of the hands of the general public. Other drugs require a prescription and don't affect the mind as hard as marijuana, why aren't you on here calling for them to be legalized and available to everybody over the counter with no control whatsoever? There's a whole slew of them are psychoactive, too.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg So then if you get the same psychoactive experience from aspirin then why isn't the entire world using it instead of weed? You know that's a weak point and that marijuana is in a way different class.
I know marijuana is not a "psychedelic trip", but it does alter mental states, alter moods, affect perceptions of reality, possibly induce hallucinations, and impair judgment. It has no business in the hands of the general public for recreational purposes.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
Yikes!
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg What I'm saying is that it's a drug and will effect all of its users differently. Delta 9 THC is a psychoactive chemical compound that does have the potential to induce hallucinations, on top of its many other side effects. It will affect everybody in a different way, depending on their mental state and distribution of brain chemicals. Since everybody's mental constructs are different, it should not be available for recreational use to the general public.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81
GrassValleyGreg 1 month ago
@GrassValleyGreg That still doesn't change the fact that mind altering narcotics have no business being legal for any and everybody to go pick up at the corner store with absolutely no regulation. If you want to make the case that it should be legal for medical purposes with the proper restrictions and medical supervision, I will never disagree with that. I support it 100%. But letting every Tom, Dick, and Harry get their hands on psychoactive narcotics for fun...no way.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81 Bystander, I do have to disagree. Not against your case, just against your reasons for legalizing. Think about how much of Taxpayers' money goes toward "The War on Drugs".
Every Tom, Dick, and Harry are already getting their hands on it... We as a nation might as well benefit.
We are born with free-will. If we want to smoke some weed, dammit we are going to find some.
dannyruxspin 1 month ago
@dannyruxspin And homicide being a crime doesn't stop it from happening either, think of all the money we spend on the "war on murder", all of the money that goes into the scientific investigation of new crime solving technologies. If you want somebody dead, dammit, they're going to die. Might as well legalize it as well if it's so expensive, right?
I know that's an absurd comparison, but on a moral level it draws equivalency using your logic. Things are illegal for a reason.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81 What? so you were born into this system so it has to automatically be right?. you cant think for yourself? GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS. marijuana is only illegal to this day because theres too many people making too much money off of it. your country has private prisons...if thats not fucked up i dont know what is
MrJuicemunkey 1 month ago
@MrJuicemunkey I didn't know Chile had private prisons, thanks for the update.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81 well who the hell are you to say a person can't do marijuana. the government has no right making a plant illegal, plus it's just a stupid thing to do in the first place.
slashes1122 1 month ago
@slashes1122 Who am I? I'm a member of society that will have to deal with the repercussions if psychoactive narcotics are made available to the general public for recreational purposes. Like I told the last guy, if you want to legalize it for medical purposes with the proper prescriptions and medical supervision, I'm 100% on board. Nothing wrong with it. But turning a mind altering chemical substance loose on an already largely mentally infirm population is just reckless.
Bystander81 1 month ago
@Bystander81 it's stupid making it illegal when people want to smoke it. it's a matter of education to get people to stop. And you still have no right to say a person can't smoke it for recreational use. America is a constitutional republic not a democracy. a person can smoke it if he/she wants to. a good portion of the public admit to using it, and the only repercussions come from prohibition.
