Tk trap, Tk shot, teleport...Combo... The only way to beat her is a super when the TK shot or TK trap frames are activate, in fact U have 1/2sec to do the inputs.

I'm glad they didn't make her like Gill in 3rd Strike. He was way too powerful especially on the console version when a actual player is playing him. Phoenix at least has a few flaws.

take into account that you have to A - reserve your specials for phoenix, instead of in combos for the resurrection, B - not use phoenix until the end, so now your playing with 2 characters for 2/3 of the match (not all 3 together). And C - after so long her health decreases anyways. (and its easy to have the meter sit at lvl 5 and not use hyper combos when the fight could of let you fill the gauge 1 or 2 times more. That's lost potential there.
I really do hate phoenix gameplay wise, and why is she in this game...gameplay wise, people who like turnaround victories and flying in the air using the same move over and over again. story wise she appears then that's it...whua? I don't use her at all, and I'm still practicing how to snap back to bring her out...
gotta force phoenix out early. All Phoenix players seem to hold out with her, because all it takes in one combo and she's out. I think her super low hit points is the balance here. Never used her though...Rather boring character to me.
i am a phoenix user and if you look at her full abilities and even the introduction cinematic that includes her, she has regenerative abilities, her quarter circle back hyper combo is healing field where if she moves to you, any damaged health bar starts to recover, and dark phoenix is a transformation utilizing the regenerative trait. her health degenerates, but her attack is improved. Phoenix in mythology is brid that rises from the ashes, ergo phoenix recovering health in transformation.
So you didn't bother to read up on the game and when you hit something that you "never even knew about" (your fault), you complain that it's "lame as fuck".

What people don't understand, and don't WANT to understand is that the total health of normal Phoenix and Dark Phoenix combined, equals that of a character with normal health.
Not only that, but both have ridiculous low defense and Dark Phoenix can be killed with ONE special attack.

@SolBuster What do you mean "not only that"? There's no such thing as defense in this game, every character takes the same damage from an attack, the only difference is health pools.
Also, having low health is an advantage over other squishy characters, because it guarantees you won't die in a single common (quite common in this game).
Most importantly, her offense and keep-away are godlike, and healing field makes her unkillable.

You can't have a character that can die in one super, get her life drained, can only be summoned by a 5meter at Phoenix's death, that receives insane chip damage....and give the character normal attributes like everyone else.

Hello! I am a phoenix user and I seldom waste my time saving 5 bars i know how to use her without having to use her signature move. Capcom made a brilliant decision phoenix has half the life of the weakest character in the game even resurrected she still has, with the life combined of both phoenix, low health + it consumes slowly.
absolutely any character can kill her with 1 combo so it is fair.
snapback will not help you if the player knows how to use her in fact it might even hurt more.

@JupiterSailfish ok 2 clarify; pheonix is a mythical creature. pheonix's are born through ash, and when a pheonix die's of,lets say old age, it turns into ash equaling that a baby would be born throughit. so in this case pheonix dies but forms a stronger version of her, dark pheonix. so yea...shes pheonix...a weak yet strong rush down character that can heal herself...if u see someone with her, make sure u snapback into pheonix so u kill her.
@JupiterSailfish No, in the X-men universe, Jean Gray (Pheonix) occasionally gets overtaken by herself (As Dark Pheonix). It's sort of like Ryu and Evil Ryu, but the point of her existance in Marvel is that Pheonix is the lowest HP in the game, so they gave her a rediculous comeback if you have 5 bars. Her health drains when she does this though, but most people just X-Factor to stop that from happening. It's sort of a "suprise" character.
@JupiterSailfish It implies ressurection, and you can kill her first mode with a single combo that finishes with a hyper. You -ignore- the first form, it doesn't count, it's worthless at worst and a gamble at best.
Imagine picking Hulk, but only being able to USE Hulk if you KO Bruce Banner with 5 bars.
@JupiterSailfish I agree it is not obvious but when the legendary bird Pheonix burns out it is reborn from the ashes (or at least a egg that will hatch the bird again will appear).
@JupiterSailfish no phoenix is mythological animal in which it is a fire spirit that is a bird and the phoenix has a unique trait. It can be revived from its ashes. They took that and gave it to her (Jean Grey) because if you defeat Jean when she has 5 bars she will be revived from her ashes metaphorically speaking.
@JupiterSailfish Yes! That's what phoenixes do. Also, I know this was right when the game came out, but you shouldn't have lost this because of phoenix, you should have lost it because you're god awful. This is a good example of why sentinel was too good before the patch, and even still now.
you guys, you're missing the point that she has the worst defense.not to mention that her health drains so quickly so of course they're gonna make her the most powerful character in the game. it's your last chance. you're taking a risk with her. if you're good, you can use her to your advantage, if not then you might as well put the controller down cause blocking won't help. She can't take chip damage well.
Phoenix can be incredibly unfair. Her moves become overly powerful as Dark Phoenix. Perhaps if they give her a bit more stamina, and take down her Dark Phoenix LV5 Hyper combo a couple of notches, it would even up the playing field.
After all, a nerfed Sentinel is a happy Sentinel XD

N00B. Notice how you need FIVE hyper combo levels AND NO HEALTH LEFT? Kill her before then, no problem. and you couldn't see it cause the player had X factor on, but she LOOSES HEALTH AUTOMATICALLY. But of course, what can we expect from a SENTINAL player? c:
I really do not know why people complain about phoenix soooo much. She is a gimmicky character that can be defeated easily. Yea she is super powerful and if you let dark phoenix rise you basically lose, but she dies in like 5 hits in both forms. And if you snap her and kill her you basically win.
Phoenix has 420,000 health per form... Even post nerf sentinel has more life(905,000)than Phoenix and dark Phoenix combined AND she needs 5 meters to do it

@SolBuster What do you mean "not only that"? There's no such thing as defense in this game, every character takes the same damage from an attack, the only difference is health pools.
Also, having low health is an advantage over other squishy characters, because it guarantees you won't die in a single common (quite common in this game).
Most importantly, her offense and keep-away are godlike, and healing field makes her unkillable.

You can't have a character with that much low health and not include something extra with the package.

You are just talking about Dark Phoenix.
I'm talking about normal Phoenix.
You pretty much have to avoid using specials to get her.
And you can STILL kill her with one combo.
There are ways to do it just like there are ways of dealing with Sentinel's super armor during his launcher.
You can even spam super jump to get close and rape. Even chip damage does considerable damage.

@fasthandsz Oh yeah, and her health is constantly being draining too.
You can't have a character that can die in one super, get her life drained, can only be summoned by a 5meter at Phoenix's death, that receives insane chip damage....and give the character normal attributes like everyone else.
I mean seriously, spam high jump and defend and in about a minute she will die in two punches.

ANYTHING will hurt her badly. If she is so cheap then just projectile her ass while she tries to go insane.
You must be a 9th lord too if you complain this much about her holy fuck.
With health draining and her healing ability only functional while close to the enemy, a couple of projectiles will get you somewhere.
If not then just super jump LIKE I SAID LIKE 3 TIMES ALREADY.

@SolBuster To add a bit more detail (numbers) to your post let's not forget Phoenix and DP health combined = that of the next character in line with the least amount of HP next to phoenix, Akuma. Her health is a little more than half of what his is... Akuma = 800 Phoenix = 420

In the words of Ren from "Ren & Stimpy" U STUPID IDIDOT!!!! Combo her again! Matter of fact down & Med then special into a air combo would kill her and if she doesnt die off the 1st 2 hits. Her health goes down constantly too in dark phoenix. But i'ma quit talkin about u cuz i see u dont kno nothing and I'ma help. Go in training against phoenix and take the dummy health off recorvery....smh & u'll see easy she can die even when she turns to DPh. and u'll see how foolish u look posting this

Hello! I am a phoenix user and I seldom waste my time saving 5 bars i know how to use her without having to use her signature move. Capcom made a brilliant decision phoenix has half the life of the weakest character in the game even resurrected she still has, with the life combined of both phoenix, low health + it consumes slowly.
absolutely any character can kill her with 1 combo so it is fair.
snapback will not help you if the player knows how to use her in fact it might even hurt more.

@JupiterSailfish ok 2 clarify; pheonix is a mythical creature. pheonix's are born through ash, and when a pheonix die's of,lets say old age, it turns into ash equaling that a baby would be born throughit. so in this case pheonix dies but forms a stronger version of her, dark pheonix. so yea...shes pheonix...a weak yet strong rush down character that can heal herself...if u see someone with her, make sure u snapback into pheonix so u kill her.

@JupiterSailfish No, in the X-men universe, Jean Gray (Pheonix) occasionally gets overtaken by herself (As Dark Pheonix). It's sort of like Ryu and Evil Ryu, but the point of her existance in Marvel is that Pheonix is the lowest HP in the game, so they gave her a rediculous comeback if you have 5 bars. Her health drains when she does this though, but most people just X-Factor to stop that from happening. It's sort of a "suprise" character.

@JupiterSailfish It implies ressurection, and you can kill her first mode with a single combo that finishes with a hyper. You -ignore- the first form, it doesn't count, it's worthless at worst and a gamble at best.
Imagine picking Hulk, but only being able to USE Hulk if you KO Bruce Banner with 5 bars.

@JupiterSailfish no phoenix is mythological animal in which it is a fire spirit that is a bird and the phoenix has a unique trait. It can be revived from its ashes. They took that and gave it to her (Jean Grey) because if you defeat Jean when she has 5 bars she will be revived from her ashes metaphorically speaking.

@JupiterSailfish Yes! That's what phoenixes do. Also, I know this was right when the game came out, but you shouldn't have lost this because of phoenix, you should have lost it because you're god awful. This is a good example of why sentinel was too good before the patch, and even still now.

you guys, you're missing the point that she has the worst defense.not to mention that her health drains so quickly so of course they're gonna make her the most powerful character in the game. it's your last chance. you're taking a risk with her. if you're good, you can use her to your advantage, if not then you might as well put the controller down cause blocking won't help. She can't take chip damage well.

Phoenix can be incredibly unfair. Her moves become overly powerful as Dark Phoenix. Perhaps if they give her a bit more stamina, and take down her Dark Phoenix LV5 Hyper combo a couple of notches, it would even up the playing field.
After all, a nerfed Sentinel is a happy Sentinel XD

Teams in order from best to worst

I really do not know why people complain about phoenix soooo much. She is a gimmicky character that can be defeated easily. Yea she is super powerful and if you let dark phoenix rise you basically lose, but she dies in like 5 hits in both forms. And if you snap her and kill her you basically win.

Phoenix has 420,000 health per form... Even post nerf sentinel has more life(905,000)than Phoenix and dark Phoenix combined AND she needs 5 meters to do it
