Composer Barry DeVorzon does this melody for the movie "Bless The Beasts And Children" in 1971. In the LP soundtrack it was called "Cotton's Dream", but in 1973 the soap-opera Y&R take it for the openings.

I have always loved this song since I first discovered Y&R back in the early to mid 80's when I was about 11. I keep looking on iTunes, but for some reason the song doesn't sound the same even they they say it is the official song for Y&R.

Back in South Africa this soap opera was dubbed into Afrikaans, like alot of American TV shows. It still had the original theme though. When I year this music, it reminds me of dinner . We usually had our main meal while it was on.

I'm 23 now, and have been watching Y&R for the past few years. When i was able to learn to play piano by ear, this was one of the first themes I tried to learn. It was a success. I love this theme. Unbelievable piece of music. Masterpiece. I was a Days fan for a quick second back in the 90s but never a huge soap fan, regardless, this music is epic. This song along with the Days intro truly captures the essence of the classic American soap opera.

My mom has watched it since 1973. One day I watched it with her. It was okay, but I was still a teenager. For a guy, it was not my cup of tea. When I was 30, I got sucked in one more time and now I love Y&R. This is one of the reasons. I have always loved listening to this wonderful song, It sucks CBS has comercials instead of the theme for the credits. I love the storylines and the feuds even more so. Especially with Jack and "the moustache" Victor.

Type in the search field "AW ep4361", and then "Days closing Oct 2001". Listen to both and see for yourself -- absolutely gorgeous. The beautiful closing from LOL is not on youtube anywhere -- but I keep hoping...

These soap themes remind me of summer, because that's when I was on summer vacation from school and I'd be playing out in the back yard or in my room and I'd hear these themes playing from the tv during the day. They were reassuring me my Mom was home and there for me.

I remember when I was a kid in the eighties and heard the theme in the movie, I was immediately taken with the song. Funny parody to the soap.
