  • OMG first week in America dude? that's cool we get it.. Volutary.. yah as in individual choice. As in personal liberty. As in he wants the government out of your life. Yes voluntary would be synonimous to the ideals of Ron Paul.

  • People already interact on a voluntary basis. WTF are you talking about!?

  • Can I choose not to pay for the Iraq war if I wish to do so?

  • Not really, because you don't pay for it directly you pay for it indirectly through taxes that go to national defense. But you can urge your congressional representation to withhold your tax dollars from the Iraq war, and they can de-fund it like the Vietnam war.

  • If I can't choose not to pay for something I explicitly disagree with (wars of aggression), then how can it be said to be voluntary?

  • You can attempt to withhold a portion of your taxes that you believe are the Iraq portion, but in all honesty they would just borrow the money anyway. You have to cut off the flow of money at the congressional level, otherwise you'll just have to pay more later...

  • That was a brilliant question. Maybe someday a politician will answer it.

  • A very thought provoking question. I would love to hear the answer to that by every candidate.

  • It is a great question. If complete volutary interaction is impossible. Then we must ask ourselves: "How close can we get to it?" Everytime we move away from it we should do so very carefully and thoughtfully.

Perhaps, when we find ourselves too far removed from it, we sure venture back towards that direction.

    That's what I take from RP's approach.

  • Absolutely correct! Moving toward more freedom will increase our happiness overall. Moving away will do the opposite.

  • They say only two things are certain, death and taxes. Fortunately based on that, I can predict that I will some day be free of paying tribute to our masters. Unfortunately Ill be greeted by death at the same moment.

  • Taxation is coercion.

  • The desires of the few never out weigh the needs of the many

  • Typical socialist statement. Steal from the producers to give to the non-producers.

  • How you extracted that much BS out of my very simple statement tells me you need to up your medications, present dosage is not working!

  • as long as the constitution allows taxation, there will be some coercion. Regardless of ron paul's eventual goals for the state, your anarchist vision won't materialize soon enough for him to be a part of it. The best he can do is move in that direction, albeit quite strongly

  • Ron Paul has gone on record as saying he thinks the draft and un-apportioned taxes are unconstitutional - those are basically the only things you are forced to "participate" in, with the current system.

  • LO L -

How can he answer that ?

  • What do you mean?

  • Voluntary interaction means no government in the end.

    And no president.

If he admits to start any kind of transition he can be accused to act 'unconstitutional'.

  • Which is why this is a vital question.

  • The constitution protects freedom of association, if that's what you're referring to. The government's role is to uphold the constitution and all that it stands for. In short, it is the individual that should ultimately decide what is in their own best interest, and government should have little or no involvement with the direction each of us choose to go in life.
