  • This is absolutely amazing.

  • Is that a "juggalo" (or whatever) at 2:15? *Shot*

  • Drum Circle Of Two:)

  • Interesting how a song that is almost twenty years old is somehow just as relevant today as it was back then (aside from the Dan Quayle reference).

  • Wow! This man can perform! <3

  • I think the people talking about it being from the point of view of a psychopath are off. Danny himself was frustrated with Danny Quayle and the moral panic of the time, I feel the song is essentially from HIS point of view. He's angry at all of it, and he's sarcastically inviting them to cure him, it's a very sardonic song, he's essentially saying it's all madness, and he's achieving catharsis by writing about these extreme emotions.

  • @elfojuice More accurately, I think it's not a psychopath per se, but an ignorant member of "the masses" whom the (fundamentalist) Christians believe they can cure.

  • THis song was inspired by the 1992 Dan Quayle "family values" election campaign. The song is actually sung from the point of view of a psychopath, who the Christians think they can "cure".

  • Truly the music of madness.

  • WOW! This song is still so very relevant in Texas, where the christian taliban reigns. Perry? It chills me that he will run for pres-will make "W" seem light weight.

  • My only quibbles with this video is that it features too much crowd and not enough Johnny "Vatos" Hernandez and true percussion and certainly not enough on the horns. But what a great experience. I wish I could have been there.

  • does anyone know why this song is called insanity? because its an insane good song

  • @devolution678 because it's about the insanity of religious fundemntalism (or CHRISTinsanity).

  • WHO THE HECK WOULD DISLIKE THIS!!!??? DANNY IS A BIG PART IN THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS HE HAS A GREAT RANGE OF VOICE

  • @devolution678 extremist christians for example.

  • Saw their final East Coast tour at what is now the 9:30 Club in DC. Brilliant show, and a very friendly bunch of guys, they could kick it like few could. They were a rare moment of clarity, intelligence, and inspiration in a dismal couple of decades of music- and we need them now more than ever! Wish they'd do a reunion album and tour, but Danny has said that years of touring have pretty much destroyed his hearing. But I'd travel cross country to see them if it ever happened! Miss you guys...

  • @maddrb0b I was at the WUST show as well. What an incredible night. When he jumped off the stage into our pseudo-mosh pit it was as if he had never done that before. I listen to this now and feel like I took them for granted and I have always been a true fan. So much genius, charisma and talent on stage at any time. Purists might disagree but I liked the absence of horns at this show as it allowed them to really throw down (see mosh pit comment)... It is really cool to revisit in, thanks!

  • So, you're 11 now? I'm not buying it. Do you mean you saw OB at 6?

  • @lgtrojan15 This was in 1995....so he was 6 in '95, and is now 21/22.

  • I WANT TO MAKE VIOLENT LOVE WITH HIM!

  • This was my first concert. I was 6 years old with my mom and her friends. I was painted as a skeleton. I'm sure through my fucked up life this song and experience is what kept me sane. :)

  • I have a feeling this is what it would be like to be on acid

  • @T3amRock3tExecutiv3 Acid makes this song better.

  • Great. Another acid flashback.

  • sad to see that 13 people do not like oingo boingo insanity well it seems that they do not love there life to the fullest :P

  • Each and every time I hear this song or see the video, I somehow feel emotionally ...... erect. Especially with the earplugs in ... Danny pounding his music fast and hard into my head. *cough* No double entendre here, folks. Not a bit. ;)

  • @MagzHalo lol...

  • I miss Oingo Boingo!!!!

  • If Mad Scientists acted more like Danny Elfman, then even Superman couldn't stand a chance!

  • Insanity is right, a genius and a mad man are only a padded room and straight jacket apart... Danny, you are a genius on the edge of insanity bro.

  • 7:29 Dannys face.

  • i was a lowly sales guy at the music store on pearl st. you guys made my day on the radio tone slide an the tenor ,ill miss Oingo Boingo love peace from ivy

  • God I love this song so damn much :D the damn truth in Elfman, and Oingo Boingo... shame they will never be together again =(

  • the worst part of this song is 7:43

  • Oh hell yes, this is my favorite song. I love Oingo Boingo.

  • this should be the theme for silent hill

  • I am still amazed this is the opening song of the night! Can you imaging doing 2 full sets plus an encore after that!? Talk about setting the bar high

  • Behold the awesome that is insanity.

  • I saw Oingo Boingo 5 times in concert over the years. Wish I had made it to this one. One of the greatest live band perfomers I have ever seen. WE MISS YOU OB

  • I saw Oingo Boingo 5 times in concert over the years. Wish I had made it to this one. One of the greatest live band perfomers I have ever seen. WE MISS YOU OB

  • i cant listen to this without thinking that this would be the result of jack skellington having a rock band :P

  • Holy shit now I got a new band to follow! HTF am I gonna afford that??

  • @MrJbadass Unfortunatly, this was their final concert. The band disolved in 1995. Danny Elfman, the lead singer, has gone on to have an extrordinary career in writing music for the movies.

  • 9 ppl missed the Like It Button

  • Jesus even went to his concerts.....now if that don't say something, I don't know what does!

  • totally - religiously a riot!

  • I wish I can see this concert... Netflix does not have the concert DVD, but they DO have the special features disc. That's just too weird and stupid.

  • So hoooooooooot

  • I went to this concert as well. No concert has topped it since. So energetic. Was just amazing.

  • @mythicalnic im jealous

  • ... mayb cough syrup ~

  • snds like jack skelling-2klb ~ on lemon-ade

  • This was my ABSOLUTE favorite song when I was 3 years old lol

I danced to it all around the house from age 3 to 8... I'm thinking you could call me an odd child xD

  • snds like jack skelling-2klb ~

  • @TJae1 well gee, I wonder why? XD U do know that Danny does jack's singing voice, right?

  • @dragonholder411 ~ doesn't look a thing lik'em ~ jack is bettr lookin' ~ & ~ has that plush look ~ I think danny has bettr manners than that ~ don't U think ~

  • @TJae1 Well don't forget the whole computer editing thing ya know. Actually, he also did the voice of Bone Jangles from corpse bride, and he's done LOTS of other voices for songs and characters, so he's technincally a whole lot of different people in one. The computer just helps. And yes, Jack IS better looking than Danny, but Edward Scissorhands is the best! And he is much more gentelmanly *in my opinion at least* ;)

  • @dragonholder411 ~ thnxs 4 the background ~ Tim stays to the dark side w/ this films ~ His bettr (4 Me) planet of the apes & batman 2 ~ what did U think of alice ~ btw ~ look shrp for ~ @bever49 @mrjoemumford @maltyful @bankguy1000

  • @TJae1 I liked alice & wonderland, but Edward Scissorhands is my fav. ;) and who r those people??

  • @dragonholder411 ~ goodness ~ white soxx accounts for 1 aggressive troller ~ I've had them litter most all my stuff (I'm not the only 1)

over a samsung disagreement ~ chck out the hyperlinks ~

    U'll see what I mean

  • @TJae1

AW TJ U CAN FIX IT

    YOU'RE MR FIXIT REMEMBER

  • @dragonholder411 ~ Ur rite Scissorhands ~ was pretty good ~

  • @dragonholder411 ~ dude ~ have U been 2oo any of these concerts ~ snds like an awesome audio experience ~

  • @TJae1 Naw, I'm too young, but I've heard it was amazingly awesome! And I can tell just by the energy these guys put off from the stage, it's like all the fans turn into 1 big pulsing organism type thing, all differences set aside for the one love of that music that they all share. That's kinda what it's like at a disturbed concert I've heard, but these guys are way over what disturbed can do.....

  • @dragonholder411 ~ I can imagine ~ the dude is the like the punk/funk version of~ John williams

  • @TJae1 TJ FAILS

  • @TJae1

  • @TJae1 Hope you enjoy it! ^^

  • @dragonholder411 ~ IOW ~ R U going 2 c it ? 4 myself ~ mayb ~ depp has voice talent ~ unless it was a computer ~ mutated version~ w/ the wrds: ** JOHNNY DEPP ** patchd to the movie poster

  • @TJae1 XD Naw, I'm not, I don't have the money to go see movies. I've heard mixed reviews about it, but mostly that it was pretty good. Has a few dirty jokes in it too....*snickers*

  • @dragonholder411 ~only 15 USD for 3D ~ Johnny Depp in 3D What movies will U view for 15 & will U b dressing up as awesom-o, scissor-hands sister, rango or etc. this yr :

  • This song has more meaning to it than the average middle finger,,,,,

  • Like the campy NIN. Beautifully written song, great drum work.

  • I'm just OBSESSED with this song!!

  • WHERE IS THE F***ING LOVE IT BUTTON???

  • @06yarbrougha its the refresh button. :)

  • @06yarbrougha Calm down, this is their worst song!

  • @ohgee1 naw .. its not there worst

  • Happy Halloween from the USA!

  • Did anyone else orgasm? Or am I the only one?

  • @RayKanen69 I still am... lol.... Im on the video...

  • @RayKanen69 I think I did. I was at this concert. Holy hell these guys were unreal live!!!

  • @RayKanen69 i did twice... now i just opened a fresh can of crisco

  • @RayKanen69

Yes to the first question. No to the second.

  • @RayKanen69 well remember to handy wipe your chair down ya nasty bastard!lol

  • I forgot how amazing this song is. It was so much fun introducing my 12 year old daughter to it today. She is a fan of his, but only from Nightmare Before Christmas. I love that she is old enough to start to appreciate DE for his other music. He is a freaking legend.

  • epic....

  • Would be better if it was a bit longer and more repititious. And with a touch more middle-aged, middle-class angst. Maybe copy a few more ideas from Pink Floyd/Roger Waters songs to really complete the concept... really take us into the world of a fully functional, commercially successful insane person.

  • @curtaink clever, I smiled. true. I do like the tune.

  • I wish I'd written this song. It's flawless.

  • i can watch this every night I HAVE THE WHOLE CONCERT ON 2 DVDS!!!!!!!!

  • @XxLuvDentzxX I cannot find it anywhere. You are one lucky person.

  • @DinoWmn well it was origiannly on a tape that my friend had bought the night of the concert and they put it on DVD for me...

  • Was there...I am the virus, are you the cure?

  • If more people went to Oingo Boingo concerts it would make them lose the urge to burn the Koran.

  • Does somebody know where I can find the official video to this? once saw it, of the Director of most Tool videos if I'm correct. I really loved the video, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

  • Where can I sign up for a Oingo Boingo cover/tribute band? I love these guys and their music needs to be carried on!

  • @Malzarin

Check out Dead Man's Party! Best Boingo tribute band out there...if you're in CA.

  • no direction to this one

  • This is just amazing!!!! Love the song :D

  • absolutely awesome !!!!!!

  • @jacobpotter & ShadowArtist

Why the hell do you have to have stupid arguments about religion on youtube? I mean, is there seriously no better place? I hate when people have wars on the comments page instead of commenting on the damn video! It's a good video, great song, and an incredible band. Just leave it at that and don't bring "God" into it.

  • @hikariheir Why can't they restrict to who's date mentioned god the most or SOMETHING! Oh yah, PG-13 site.

  • @hikariheir I wasn't arguing about fucking "God". I only expressed that the lyrics in this song reflects what I think and feel about of FUNDAMENTAL evangellic forms of christianity and those that follow it, and how **fundimentalists** try to impose their dogma on everyone that doesn't conform to their beliefs, and demonize others. I belief people are free to believe what the fuck ever they want as long as they aren't harming anyone and aren't trying to brow beat and shove it upon everyone else

  • @hikariheir

well, the song is kind of ABOUT it. Why do YOU have to interrupt other people's conversations to tell them that they don;t need to comment except to say "this song is awesome!" even though your own comment contradicts this?

  • Man, I'm a Christian and I still love this song. It's just so good!

  • @Kaelzoroden

    ja me too.

    it's awesome

  • Love the elf

  • best live preformance ever!

  • @Platformschick

Bearing in mind that this is a group that was founded in '72 and went until '95, I think a lot of people may disagree with you. Also, this took place 15 years ago on Halloween, so I think they are okay on the skeletons.

  • was at the san diego show and it was awesome! danny is one of the few true musicians of our time. virtus danny!

  • Id love to see you DEAD! Dead! DEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD! love that part

  • I admire these guys for so many reasons! Not the least of which is the fact they "Opened" their farewell show with this monster. There is nothing like tapping into the darker nature of us weak humans.

  • This song continues be my virtual message to all fundimentalist christians..and to their insanity and mediocrity they want to force and impose on everyone.

  • @ShadowArtist

These are, of course, everyone's generalized, exaggerated, ignorant views stupid people have about something they don't understand, but are by no means accurate. There's nothing insane about it, and I'd like you to explain how one goes about enforcing mediocrity, if you even know what you mean by that.

Someone said that "society is afraid of that which they don't understand, so it is easier to label and put someone in a box," and you are proving this to be absolutely true."

  • @jacobpotter LMAO. Ha ha ha ha ha ha Cool story bro!

  • @ShadowArtist

this only proves my point any more. If all you can say is *laugh,* you obviously have no mind power with which to actually have a productive argument with someone. If you actually have a legitimate problem with Christianity, I'd love to hear it; otherwise, stop being petty with your childish insults.

  • @jacobpotter I have better things to do than waste my time arguing with some random person on the internet. Go argue with someone that gives a shit, go browbeat someone else with your high and mighty views...

  • @ShadowArtist

again with the radically illogical assumptions. Seriously, if you can't make an intelligent statement just don't bother.

  • @jacobpotter LOL

  • Amazing Lyrics!

  • One of the most painful dissapointments in music history, unfortunately, is that this song is part of the 10% of this album that doesn't sound like...a band a lot farther from their prime than they were. < : /

  • Ahh, memories... I never got to see them in concert... but I did happen to come across this in my DVD collection while on mushrooms.... I watched it from start to finish and fucking cried at the end when it was over! The best concert DVD ever!! So glad they did this!!!

  • they played at my friends wedding reception only the band not danny elfman

  • Brilliant. Love the drumming, love the stage set, love the build.

Am I the only one who thinks of these guys as the campy NIN?

  • @touchandgod i dont think of em as nin cause these guys have ALOT more inovated ideals

    .

  • Not really, no. But to each their own. And do you mean ideas?

  • Boingo forever!!!!!

God, I wished I had seen them in concert -- had plenty of opportunity darn it!

  • anyone know if they are gonna do a reunion tour?, my dad got me into Oingo Boingo and I swear they rock!

  • Elfman said he has not plans and that he will never tour again because of the hear damage it caused. Bummer, I saw them back in the day and if not for Phish it would have been the coolest show I ever saw. "Let's sanitize our little brains . . .'

  • That sucks. I'd love to see him in concert. He does great making music for movies too.

  • I was there that night and Boingo was one of the best live bands that I saw over and over.

  • I've always known of this group, but never listened.. These lyrics are brilliant.

  • <3 this stuff. Off which dvd etc. please so I can pick up! Thanks in advance for reply good sirs/ma'am

  • @111ElLobo its off the dvd "farewell"

  • is that Mark Emery?

  • @psycold who? the singer? no thats danny elfman.

  • I was just joking, he looks like Mark Emery who is the most well known marijuana advocate

  • @psycold i wasnt being mean i was just answering your question.

  • I didn't think you were being mean :D

  • Danny isn't wearing shoes! and he's wearing shorts o.O

  • And looking mighty fine he is!

  • Boingo's later stuff was fantastic...not that their early stuff is bad, its just really neat how that band evolved.

  • Looks like he just woke up lol

  • Well that is deliciously abhorrent. I love it. Bands that push buttons tend to be my favorites, either musically or lyricaly. Oingo Boingo has consistently done both.

  • I was there...this was maybe the 6th Boingo cncert I attended...if you went to one you will NEVER forget the energy and the genius..and obviously from what he did in film scores he proved that.

  • W O W!!!!

  • the most haunting, disturbing, and quite possibly the most well-written song ever made. the ending gives me chills, no matter how many times i've heard it.

  • @RiotSk8Team001 I have to agree, this song disturbs me everytime I hear it and yet I usually have to listen 2 times in a row because I cannot get enough. The only song I can think of that rivals the creepyness is Peter Gabriel's "The Intruder". I recomend it highly, though it has totally different subject matter.

  • Agreed.

  • @Malzarin i recommend "the she" from the breeders, or anything from trentemoller(but especially dark dub) , and the live versions are best.

  • @RiotSk8Team001

I couldn't have said it better ... you are right on the mark!

  • @RiotSk8Team001 true...true...

  • @RiotSk8Team001 this song is one of the best... and performed so well...

  • elfman is highly respected composer.film and allelse .Listen to da early punk arrangements he was always sophisicated .I 'd like to know how much input from da other members cuz what they did is awesome!!!

  • Fully agree, I don't like Genet but I like the Elf-man

& if anyone has the time to actually listen to these

    lyrics they can say that

the "alcoholic who waves his "finger" at me"...

can substitute Dan Quale for DICK CHENEY...

who thinks he can change reality...

but if he repeats the same refrain

    Danny Elfin's message still retains...

    the same spark of INTELLIGENCE!!

  • definitely one of their bests

  • I think this is the best song they ever wrote.

  • Aww the lyrics make me sad. I hate when people are hypocritical, especially Christians-- we're supposed to be humble not judgmental and disrespectful but so many are making us all look "holier than thou". So sad. Great song.
