is there ANYTHING you can use to thin out resin (for spraying or brushing) without turning it white (clear resin i mean) i used 99% alcohol and it turned my clear resin white, and is there anything i can use to get urethane out of a brush

I sometimes wonder if the silicone method is really the only way. I understand the whole airtight and water tight idea but I am wondering if they even need to last 25 years. I should explain that where I live it appears that encapsulating them in silicone costs more than 36 cells. I wonder if makng a box as water tight as possible using sealant, alumnium tape and with a shovel full of silica gel beads in there too would work. You could service the box each year and recharge the silica gel.

So if you can get old dual pane windows and seal the edges, will that work just as well for encapsulation? If the glass is hot and dry, it should not end up with condensations right?

Sorry but wood will not work and the glass is also not right. The correct glass is even more expensive, about 100 euro per meter but i know where you can get it for 3. diypowercompany

Would be nice to see you do a D.I.Y. on the EVA-TVT encapsulant methods instead of the "Sylguard" style encapsulent. Other D.I.Y.'ers have found ways to do it without expensive lamination machines...

If you use untempered glass, think about making the frame maybe a little larger, about 1/8" all the way around to allow for contraction during cold winter months. That could place a little too much pressure on one side or more and cause your glass to crack.

Pretty sure he means glass on solar side and resin on the backside. This prevents the resin going yellow effecting the voltage on the panel.
