i love Ferrari but goddamn the designs are nowhere as beautiful as they used to be and i think that if enzo could see what they have become he would be turning over in this grave so fast it would make you head spin
the 456 was probably one of the best i have ever owned, there are a few out there that need checked out due to owner neglegence, as long as the car has been loved, you won't have a problem, have a compression check done though, although ferrari cars loved to be driven, some people thrash them out so check for a new clutch in the service records too, they are great cars, i recommend
I have an origional dino and have owned it for a few years now, I have also owned a 456gtm and a 599.
There is something very special about ferrari cars, on one hand you can be working on the car in the garage and think nothing more of a fiat or alfa romeo soul but still theres a haunting of enzo all over them, and then you sit in and turn the motor on and it all changes, even the dino has a ferrari soul and sound! it is music, hit the throttle and people dont seem to hate you for it,amazing
knutfheifer I envy you about owning a few Ferraris, ha :)
Dino....work of art.
for me, 288 GTO, the beauty of the body are indescribable in words, & Testarossa, Modena. The F430 becomes a bit extreme for me, still like it though. And any models after that just don't look good for me anymore. Not that I can afford them here in Thailand though. With an import tax of 200+% I simply can't put down the money. Now, please let me know your opinion about California, Italia, and the no stick design.
@golferchin76 well, it happens to be a dino that i own and love, it's the classics for me and i love the 288 too, these were the days where the work was really put into these cars, for my dino aproaching the 40 yyear old mark, she is still quite a quick car, take her back to the beginning of the seventies and she was a rocket;-) magical.
I like the new ones to of coarse but don't know too much about them.
I think all exotic cars should be allowed to burn the fuel that should have been made for these pieces of art in the first place, while regular commuter cars can switch to eco-friendly fuel. cause when you think about it how many people really have these beasts?
@paintballstarbucks It just means they have to learn efficiency. It's possible to have performance and efficiency in the same engine, they just have to learn how to tweak it properly. You'd be surprised how simple things like gear ratios, aerodynamics and direct injection have made leaps and bounds in fuel economy.
@behahve1 ferraris are rare.they do not damage the environment that much as ,say,a popular suv. it would be overkill to stop engine builders,as they are the ones who can develop eco friendly engines.
@behahve1 its a magnificent work of art! the day eco terriosts try and kill off engines like this ill turn them into soil for said trees they are trying to save! god damn tree hugging hippies!
@behahve1 its sad yes, but it has do be done. On the good side think of how awesome machines like this will be to own in days where internal combustion is a thing of the past
@behahve1 Its even worse to know that there is no reason to kill the endangered breed, this Global Warming bullshit has been proven that its not true, the only reason why a few people enforce it is because there in it for the money
My Uncle's best friend used to work in Ferrari in 1998 and he said that when they make any mistake while building the engine they have to recycle it.Just for one small piece.
u sure nothing beat Ferraris? How about its archrival Lamborghini.
Throw in there Zonda from Pagani, Koenigsegg. How about 'lesser' rivals such as MB SLR, American Corvette ZR-1? okay the vette crowd ZR-1 is not a lesser rival.
In the supercar world, consumer opinions are very different. Many times there's no point to compare different models from diff different companies at all. This one here does 0-100 mph faster, pull more lateral g's etc, and so what, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
@golferchin76 Ferrari is the most engineered car out in the world!!! What a ZR-1!? The BIG BLOCK 6.2lt + Supercharged will need to defeat a Ferrari? Let me just explain something short & Briefly. A 96' Vette GS has a LT4 V8, 5.7lt!! making only 330HP & 340ft-lb. The F355 95' has only a 3.5lt making 375Hp & 268ft-lb. Look at the new 458! It embarrasses those big blocks such as the Z06 & Viper. So nothing beats ferrari in engineering, quality, or competition. I respect Pagani, koenCCX 2xSupercharg
dude, Ferraris are are far from the 'most' engineered cars. It is a 'prestige' brand. I like older Ferraris' only, like Modena.
Now, when you wrote 'big block' you mean big displacement? because they are actually called large displacement small block V8s. and before you actually sat in a 6.2 zr-1, which can pull from 0-60 in 1st gear, I suggest u not to discredit it. on papers it is this and that, but once you are in them corvettes.....you actually might just fall in love with them.
@golferchin76 It's not always about engineering. As said before it's about the passion you put into the thing. The Veyron, for example.. has an engine that is totally milled out of solid aluminum.. Ferrari still use castings. Sure, they mill the mold parts for the castings.. but they still cast the blocks. The result is an engine that isn't all that much lighter then machining it but looks like a well tailored suit.
Hi PaleHearse, I was answering to kingre 1986 about he said nothing beats Ferrari. I don't intend to put down Ferraris, because I like them, except California and Italia.
Like I said, Ferrari is about prestige. If you are lucky to have one, you are really lucky that you can afford it. I just play with JDM cars because I don't want to pay the 200+% import tax.
Yes it is about passion when it comes to cars. Also every great car has its personality. So I like Corvette and don't like seeing
people bashing it. I never agree with "this car is killer for another car argument." That's not the real point about the existence of exotics. Like you said, it is 'passion'. And I add, it is tradition to make Corvettes fit with large displacement low revving rumbling engines, nothing wrong with that. Likewise, Ferraris go for the high revving route. Wouldn't it be completely weird if Corvette has 9k rpm engine and Ferraris revs to only 7k? Or a Harley that has a CBR's characteristics, right?
Understood. There is a difference between cars that people possess and cars people own and drive. I don't know a single person who owns a Ferrari of Lamborghini that uses it as a daily driver in the way I used to use my Alfa Romeo GTV6.
Most of my travel is by motorcycle these days but my passion car is my hearse. (grin) And that's not going to win any races or beauty contests.
Hi PaleHearse, I respect your reply. A lot of men and some women like to collect cars that like, and yes if someone owns an exotics they don't commute in them, that's why pre-owned exotics are usually very low in mileage, assuming dealer don't cheat by re-adjusting the odometer.
Now GTV6 is a great car. Very sexy looking.
What do you mean by hearse...I looked up the internet it is a wagon that carries coffins. Is that true?
That's correct. I own a 1975 Cadillac model 75 commercial chassis 3 way hearse. That is to say the casket sits on a motorized table that can be brought out the back or out either side through gigantic suicide doors. Great fun at car shows.
Hi PaleHearse. I've only seen an hearse in movies. Over here we use pick-ups or vans for that! Culture is different.
I've seen discovery channel program about how an American company build (convert from Cadillac) this type of vehicle.
True man, you would surprise a lot of people at car shows, ha. Or you drive up to someone's front yard and they would be like, 'oh my god what's going on!'
@RalliartGT1 and u have missed my point. I wrote about it makes little sense to compare exotics. Each has its own personality and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A person can like Corvette and also a Lambo. You know why corvettes are large displacement, 'low revving' V8's? because it is 'against the tradition' to fit a high revving V8 in the design, just as it would be a crime to put a rumbling low revving V8 in a Ferrari, capiche? and the corvette crowd wouldn't buy them.
okay...no disrespecting the glorious brand that is Ferrari, but Ford has had it's several historic and utterly brutal victories over them, namely Le Mans in the 60s and McLaren has certainly bested them on and off the track, e.g. the McLaren F1. Ferrari has yet to make something that has made as significant and lasting an impression on the automotive community, in terms of engineering triumph and world records. so let's not get carried away, though indisputable, Ferrari ranks among the greatest.
@redghost105 Okay, saying that is like saying, i go to a video game store, and someone makes a better game than the one im looking at, the next year it will change. Ferrari isnt better in anyway shape or form, its just leap frog between all the companies. No ONE company is better than the other.
@kingre1986 lamborghini murcielago LP670-4 SV is one of the many cars that can beat ferrari. And don't forget all of the buggatti models, all of the koenigsegg models,McLaren F1,saleen S7 twin-turbo,pagani zonda R,SSC ultimate aero.Even the caterham RST-V8 can beat ANY ferrari in acceleration with reaching 100 km in less than 3 seconds. These are a few of the cars that can beat a ferrarri!!
@kingre1986 mclaren, bugatti, lamborghini, saleen, and konigsegg are all good competition. Depending on which year, any one of them could be on the top of the food chain.
Does anyone know what the engine redlines at? Im assuming its 7500 because of the machine that tested the engine.. but the max i would not know... anyways my point is the manufactuerer only tests it at 7500...
aarrrgh, the film-makers don't get it. Shove your classical music and incorporate sound from the engine. Ferrari engines are about the sound as much as the power, and this video is by a videomaker who doesn't get what Ferrari is about...
Before you get too sentimental, it's called professionalism. The editors thought the music fit the whole theme well, the drama, the excitement of this engine being created. I suppose you are the one who doesn't get what video editing is about, because as much as I like to listen to the beautiful sound of an engine, I would get a headache from listening to that for 5 minutes straight while having to concentrate on the whole process going on in this video.
i meant to say timing belt. and to think, i usually talk trash about other people drinking and posting. oops. i tend not to mix alchohol and psychotropic substances and comment posting but..............
almost everything built in this modern era has a timing chain stock standard; from german cars to japanese. don't believe me? look up some schematics, moron.
The careful and precise craftsmanship and technology, the beauty of perfection. Simply amazing how these cars are made, and why they are worth so much.

Ferrari engines are about the sound as much as the power, and this video is by a videomaker who doesn't get what Ferrari is about...
pmanettax 2 years ago
Before you get too sentimental, it's called professionalism. The editors thought the music fit the whole theme well, the drama, the excitement of this engine being created. I suppose you are the one who doesn't get what video editing is about, because as much as I like to listen to the beautiful sound of an engine, I would get a headache from listening to that for 5 minutes straight while having to concentrate on the whole process going on in this video.

No wonder these cars are so expensive. Hand-polished, computer-precision machined EVERYTHING!

Non sei degno nemmeno di mangiare la nostra OTTIMA PIZZA, né la pasta. Noi italiani vi mettiamo in tasca. Abbiamo un paese pieno di storia, di arte, di cultura, di bontà, di sole e di mare. Grandi paesaggi, ottimi motori, la migliore cucina al mondo e facciamo delle casa che in america nemmeno sapete da dove iniziare!

There is no other country in the world with so much car manufacturers who put so much soul in their cars as the Italians do.
