Safe Mode With Networking, download, install, update and run MBAM. Also get a good antivirus program like Avast, Nod32 or Panda. Reboot into Normal Mode and see if it's any better.

hey laurbubble, if you can get into your laptop run zonealarm pro or norton that should get rid of the virus, IF you cant get into your laptop, this is what to do, make sure you have a boot disk from your old pc,switch on your laptop wait for the the bios to come up,then hit f8 a few times,you should get a menu,format your hhd,then reinstall your OS ( win 98/xp/vista) hope this helps

yeah you've the windows antvirus 2009 issue.

you need to download malwarebytes, if you google for malwarebytes, download say using your old machine transfer it to the other machine, tap the f8 key on startup, choose safe mode with networking.. install program, check for updates and do a FULL SCAN.. remove all it finds reboot back into normal mode job done.

I think your best odds of avoiding all those pop up windows and the crashes and the ...  is to get a Mac. No more virus updates, crashes... it just works.

@bouldernow Mate, that's not strictly true :P You not read the latest figures on viruses that affect macs. Without sounding douchey, people that have macs TEND (this doesn't mean you) to know very little about PCs. Thus, it's far easier for a virus programmer to attack a mac user. Macs are not much more complex to hack than a PC, just, it used to be in the minority, so wasn't worth the effort. Now, however, lots of people use macs and it's become a target.

I think it's true more viruses could be written for Macs, but the reality is there are very few. I use OS X's built in firewall and have never had a virus in 19 years of using a Mac. I had virus protection software for a while but my Mac tech guy said it was more trouble than it's worth. None of his clients have had viruses either, and he has 100's of clients.

What kind of computer is it. Normally if its a dell. You can hold down ctrl and tap i think its either F-11 or F-8 try them both. Go with F-8 first. It will re-boot your computer back to the day it was new. Be fair warned this will also erase anything you had saved.pictures etc. etc.. Also ask yourself this...how do you know I'm not setting you up for a bigger virus. Wish I were there to say GOTYA!! Just messing with you. try it, it should work. Good luck.
