I did a bit of research and basically it comes down to this...

Warner Music Group partnered up with Youtube, allowing Youtube to use its music and what not in return for compensation. WMG decided they wanted even more money from Youtube, then eventually pulled out from the deal.

Now they're threatening to sue Youtube for copyright infringement unless Youtube takes every bit of music owned by WMG down.

This isn't really an isolated problem... It's happening all across Youtube.

You're right, there are separate copyrights on the written music and the performance of the music, but WMG isn't taking that into account. All they're looking at is the name. So...if you don't want the audio muted in your videos, just don't put the name of the band or song title in the video title, description or tags.

I see... I'm fine and good with copyright laws since it also benefits us fans by keeping the artists afloat to do more material.

But WMG should review their guidelines on this subject as in this case "they killed" the creativity of another musician.

Please forgive me I don't swear but... the way they're doing this is Stupid.
