pardon for asking but i thought these cats were called tortoise shell cats, while calicos had a batch of white amber and black. almost looks like our pumpkinator, but she has horrible balance and lacks coordination, which is just funny

It looks as though the kitty's NAME is Calico. I know cats named Oreo but it doesn't mean they are a cookie. Also, the term tortoiseshell refers to the color, not the type of cat. Many types of cats can have the tortie color. Its not a breed, its a color. Torties and Calicos are of the same color family, Calicos just have more white and a different marking pattern. Lots of people call a tortie a calico, its not a big deal unless it is in a CFA cat show or something.
