I cant wait till tomorrow , going to test out my snorkel for the first time. I have spent the last hour looking up on ways to Snorkel dive and how to hold you breathe for longer. Im going to go out into the sea on my rubber dinghy then tie it up to these metal poles out in the sea , then dive in and look at the sea floor which is about 5-10m deep . I hope it will be a good first experiance,

hi, I wish to pick up snorkeling soon. But can i just ask one newbie question? I do understand that water won't enter the snorkel if we are snorkeling on the surface. But won't the water enter the snorkel and then enter your mouth as you dive underwater? Cause i see in the video that the snorkel is still attached to the person's mouth as he/she dives underwater. sorry if my question is stupid, a total noob here. ;)

@crash1989 most good snorkels these days have a mechanism that prevents that, so that you can take a breath as soon as you go back to the surface without lifting your head out of the water. although, sometimes water from waves can still get in. but there arent usually big enough waves for that to happen in tropical places like the bahamas

Water can enter the snorkel but it usually doesn't enter the mouth. When you go to resurface all you have to do is blow the water out of the snorkel. The girl at the end of the video around 1:28 does this exactly. Snorkeling is so much fun! Enjoy :)
