  • Holy shit, what a acceleration, i thought that this plane is slow.

  • What a charming beast.

  • this mig got sold for $75000

  • Looking closely the MiG 23 & F4 are fairly similar apart from the 23 having a high wing and the F4 a low wing, the 23 one engine and the F4 two, the 23 variable geometry and the F4 fixed, the 23 being single seat (apart from trainers) and the F4 2 seat and the 23 is land based whereas the F4 is a carrier aircraft. They both have a single big vertical stab'/rudder to cope with shallow side slip angles at very high speed. The 23 has an extra ventral fin and the F4 strong anhedral on the hor' stab'

  • Big wobble at unstick?

  • Mig-23 is the ugliest airplane in the world. That's why I LOVE IT!!!

  • @napornik mig23 isn't ugly!!!

    fu** you!! :'(

  • @GdeGodTiDaIgras Haha, they are very aesthetically unpleasing aircraft to look at..very odd..but like napornik said, that is why they appeal so much, and to me! :)

  • @napornik

    ;)

  • Mig 23 and Phantom jet plane F-4 has the same similarity except on the wings but look closely!

  • I love this plane!

  • This is private MiG-23?

  • awsome MiG-23 is amazing

  • vean 1 cbjeto en el min 5:58 a la izq de la pantalla saquen sus concluciones

  • that display sucked ass ....i saw a civilian F-4 demo at FT.Lauderdale airshow now that was hype !

  • Mig23 was good work horse plane.....cheap and fast with great afterburner...

  • pure sex!

  • I'd love to fly this aircraft. Sooo cool!

  • That MIG-23 is quite messed up.What version it is?

  • Another name for the Mig-23 is also the "poors man's phantom".

  • @Billy145891 is that right, boy?

  • @beliy1987 yes sir it is although in the right hands the Mig-23 was a lethal aircraft. The Soviets used it as thier "Top Gun" aggressor to train the Mig-29 pilot and was a very difficult for the inexperienced Mig-29 pilots training against them.

  • @Billy145891 correct!;)

  • The double cockpit on these MiG-23U's has an F-4:esque appearance to it, I love it!

  • only if it was a F-14.....but its still amazing that a MiG-23 is civilian owned

  • Why do Americans insist on WWE Commentators for air show's?

  • @jucoco1 - Correct me if I'm wrong, but the CF-18 demo team sounds like an American demo. The Snowbirds sound just the same.

  • @aaron8862006 CF 18 demo is done by the announcer of the Airshow. So if its an American announcer at the Airshow then yeah prob sounds like the a WWE commentator. Most American performances have their own announcer, usually a ground crew or another Pilot. As for the Snowbird/Blue Angels/Thunderbirds announcers they are much more similar......much more professional I'll give you that.

  • @jucoco1 No - it is just a typical American anouncer - 35 word vocabulary, many grammar mistakes - doesn't know a adverb from an adjective and thinks he is the only one at the show - and is in love with his voice. What he doesn't realize is that the people want to hear the plane and wish he would just shut up!

  • That's a damn short take off roll for a jet. Gotta love that variable geometry.

  • I know this Mig-23 as I see it every Sunday morning when I groundcrew for the Mig-21 and L-39 we launch. Hopefully she fly again someday.

  • 2 iranian f-14A destroyed 4 iraqi mig-23 witch Aim-54 missile!

  • oh yeah

  • mig 23 looks pretty heavy compare to other single engine jet,i thought it will be twin engine, but its a single engine,

  • Underrated plane. Not a dog fighter but good as a fighter bomber for dash and splash style attacks.

  • I wouldent mind flying that plane

  • Crazy Pilots ....

    watch?v=XGR2GUtF9PU&feature=related

  • and 1 more thing , the mig's old migs was good for they era , now the SU's are better but we do not need to frogot Mig 35 that is a good plane too....

  • That guy is damn lucky. One thing found from testing the Flogger was it accelerates like a scalded cat, as we can see here. Too bad this wasn't shot in higher quality.

  • For thoise who must know the seats are hot and the pins were pulled for the flight front and back seat. The pilot has no millitary flight training. Just loves to fly.

  • I'm surprised the FAA certified this MiG-23 for civilian flight.

The USAF pilots at the test range in Nevada were not impressed at all with the MiG-23 that they evaluated.

    Didn't want to fly it.

20 years of cold war hype regarding this aircraft evaporated.

Does the author of this video have any knowledge of the experience of the owner of this MiG-23?

It took years for the FAA to lighten up the rules for high performance warbirds after that F-86 hit that ice cream parlor many years ago.

  • LoL here in Roumania american pilot's dosn't wanted to fly an MIG 21 Lancer ... to afraid :( ( no goood computer )

  • unfortunately you're right. As much as I hate to say it I doubt if many of our American pilots could fly without a full glass panel and an advanced computer. It's almost scary to think that we rely so heavily on a machine instead of our own skill!

  • Fabycfr91, you're right. American pilots would be afraid flying that Russian trash can. Thats why we fly our planes. Because we're smart to manufacture our own aircraft, and built them for performance, and reliability. Dumb ass.

  • @70HeavyChevy a real pilot does not afraid to pilot a plane ( and our Mig 21 LANCER are good planes , but we will buy others planes , F-16 Fighting Falcon , Grippen ,Eurofighter and Rafale)

  • The F-16, JAS-39, EF2000, and Dassault Rafale are exceptional aircraft, and in a different league than a MiG-21. Ask a fighter pilot if he'd rather go to battle in an old MiG, or one of the aircraft named above. Ask a Syrian pilot who flew MiG-23s and MiG-21s against Israeli F-16s and F-15s. Ask Iraqi Republican Guard pilots how their MiG-29s did against F-15s and F-16s. Ask Libyan MiG-23 pilots how they felt engaging with F-14s. Facts are facts, the numbers don't lie.

  • Yeah but the Israeli military does and General Dynamics lies as well. If you ask them how they did using Mig-23 against F-15a and F-16a they actually did quite well. The biggest difference was AWACS, missiles and jamming not planes neccesseraly. Same goes for Iraq and others. Mig29 airframe is as good as any other plane of the time. At the time Soviets were behind in radars and BVR but actually ahead in WVR. Now they have caught up in tech in everything other than the Raptor.

  • @70HeavyChevy All theese airforces fought against poor airforces and poorest pilots, so, put the same 23 or 21 in one ACE russian fight pilot... thats it

  • Here genius, maybe you should read before speaking

    translate . google . com /translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=airwar . ru%2Fhistory%2Flocwar%2Fbv%2Fmig23%2Fmig23.html&sl=ru&tl=en

  • Actually, owners of such planes don't like coming in limelight because if they do all the media will go like "ooh! that guys got a plane that does mach2!! lets try to know everything about his life and sell the info for money!!!"

  • why is it called a flogger?

  • Azért hívják így, mert ez a neve!

  • speak english

  • NATO used their own names for Russian aircraft and weapons, AFAIk. They chose names based on the type of vehicle. So fighter jets began with an F: Flogger, Fulcrum, and so on. Bombers with a B: Bear, Backfire and so on. I seem to remember that they also had a reason for using double barrel names, but I don't know about that.

  • Wow... even I didn't know that!

  • @airshowfansh Nice sarcasm :)

  • @ManicParroT

    double barrel = supersonic jet

  • @ManicParroT : Single syllable names = prop driven. Dual syllables = jets. For example:

    Bear (prop driven bomber,)

    Back-Fire (jet powered bomber.)

Frank = Yak 9, Fred = P-63 Airacobra, both prop driven.

Flogger, Fishbed, Fulcrum = jet powered.

  • @egmccann Thanks!

  • @ManicParroT Double barrel names? You mean names with two syllabels? Two syllabel names for jets, one syllabel names for propellers.

  • @ManicParroT I think it had to do with the powerplant. Turboprops got single barrrel names and jets got double barrel.

  • This is an ugly plane... would love to fly it though!

  • the ugly sometimes is beautiful for exemple like a dog boxer!

  • Any chance this Mig 23 has been to an airshow here in the state of GA?

  • This Mig-23 is owned by a guy here in Delaware who just flies it for the thrill.

I think that that he is much too rich to waste his time showing off all around the nation.

  • Jesus... I seriously want to be that guy. It's even a 23U, the two-seater, so I could take people with me...

  • I wish he'd bring that to Oshkosh! BTW, there's another video from the same airshow on Youtube Where he taxis in and shuts down. When the canopy opens, he's flying in a tee shit, no flightsuit! Makes me wonder if the seat is disabled. Anyone know?

  • It won't be the best airplane in the world, but I love it's outline with wings fully forward.

  • i think it was the mig 23 that went to 120,000+ feet at least one time and they could do 80,000 feet almost at will also it was not good on the jet if it went over Mach 2.8 for very long cool aircraft thank you for posting this video

  • I think it was a MiG-25 or 31

  • truly amazing, regardless if it was less superior to the f4 or f14. That takeoff is just insane, as the f16 pilots that flew it said the acceleration was just crazy of the mig 23

  • Maybe the MiG-25, which could do Mach 3.2!

  • Ure wrong the Mig-23 had almost the same performance with the F-14 and was by far superior to the F-4, and by the way u know the Rafale fighter? belive me or not it started as a project to counter Mig 23 and a friendly advice(seriously no offence) just learn the info ure talking about.

  • a fighter should not fight

  • the mig-23 is a fighter

  • the f-111 is a bomber

  • Its my favourite fighter of all time

  • great showcase of the aircraft! Thanks for the clip!

  • Thats right,, to even out.. F-15,, the American version of Mig-25!!

  • uh...how about hell naw! The MiG-25,although a good aircraft, can not stand up to the F-15. Plus, the F-15 was designed on its own accord....not based on the MiG-25.

  • WRONG, the f-15 was based on a defected Mig-25 witch landed in japan...

  • :) one thing is correct: the cold war was a reciprocal race to counterbalance new types of interceptors, fighters & bombers, design & technologies gave often similar output,.just look the air intakes of F-4 & Flogger.. but F-15 was rather a dog fighter while Foxbat is a high altitude/speed missile interceptor with long range radar. Moreover F-15 first series was flying before that Foxbat you recall defecting and landing in Japan..:)

  • F-15 was designed to counter the Mig-25 at first. Tehn they learned more about the MIG-25 after the F-15 had been built

  • @scarface8999 Wasn't the F-15 build first?

  • @0815521576

F-15s first flight was in July 1972, neighbor of mine actually worked for them, even got invited to it roll out ceremony. The first flight of the Mig-25 was in 1964.

  • @scarface8999 The F-15 was very close if not equal in speed. Both planes can reach 1800+MPH.But in desert storm the F-15 proved suppior to both the MiG-29 and MiG-25.Really the MiG-25 is good for intercepting and recon.

  • not really

  • I imagine the cost to operate it is insane for a private owner or private club. Too bad it only flies during an airshow. If I had to have a Soviet fighter jet, I would rather have a MiG-17. Much easier to own and operate than something as complex as the MiG-23.

  • I´d go for a MiG-21!

  • didnt he have to stay at 900ft

  • Wow, imagine having your own MiG-23. It's the only civilian one...incredible, I'm jealous.

  • actually you can buy one in bulgaria for less than a ferrari costs, and even the guy in the show says so its not the only civilian owned mig theres at least another 4 in the world 2 in south africa in thunder city and 2 in brazil, in ´´anjos do ar´´ or air angels

    an ONG

  • awesome...maybe i'll get one too

  • There's six in Borger, Texas.

  • wow that afterburner on take off was NICE

  • More MiG23 and 27s vid please!!

  • It is a Mig-23UB

  • yeah, more MiG-23 vids...you wouldnt happen to know what version it is???

  • is a nice video, i really realyy apreciate it, can you send a more videos of mig 23???? thanks
