  • People say EMG's are better than Blackouts. One, they aren't. Just because EMG's have completely solderless technology doesn't mean they are better. Not to mention, I've never heard any EMG's getting Platinum awards from Guitar World, so...

  • I just got these installed in my guitar. So awesome!!!!

  • this guy is fuckimg amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • they sound very michael angelo batio like

  • For some reason when he did the first test on clean, paint it black popped in my head. Great pick ups and good song. Long live metal

  • People that say emg's are better just cant face the fact that they wasted their more money

  • @JustSomeRandomNewb lol good point

  • can someone tell me if these pickups are better than the seymour duncan distorion ones?

  • why I can't do those effects in my guitar? Is that because I don't have good pick ups or because I don't have distortion? Or just because I'm a beginner?

  • @teufelmeinlehrer What kind of guitar and amp do you have?

  • @HadesAngel999 I got an ibanez gio grg 250p, amp landscape predator 65 and now I bought a boss me-25 pedals... I still can't doing that. I mean those effects with floyd rose. Would you help me please?

  • @teufelmeinlehrer You first have to master harmonics and whammy bar separately before you can put them together. It's not really a beginner level technique. See if this video helps - /watch?v=Sp80T9H-QIo

  • @HadesAngel999 That's gonna help me a lot. Thank you very much!

  • He's a great player, but jeez man ease up on that tremolo a little bit. Don't need to slam it whenever a note rings out for more than a half second... :P

  • It's really a matter of preference. I have EMG X 's in one of my guitars and just put blackouts in my les Paul. They both sound amazing, just different vibe from each. Blackouts do have more output.

  • 11 people thought their emgs sounded good but now their headed to guitar center

  • I need to drop a pair of these in all of my guitars.... then my life will finally be complete.

  • I'm thinking about buying these pickups. Do you think its worth buying?

  • @87RAZORZ no. they're active. lol

  • "this guy" is PAUL RIARIO!!!!

  • HEY EVERYONE! IF U LIKED THIS? U HAVE TO SEE MY VIDEO!

  • I Love EMG's ... But I also like Seymour Duncan's... can I combine the two to make an super hybrid beast ? The world would collapse ! xDDDD Ahaha

  • @ripperpp16 divide by zero!

  • ( Comment about like bar) Thmbs up (=

  • Here's the ultimate question... Blackouts or EMG's? Any opinions?

  • Comment removed

  • @Therium1

Matter of taste, listen to both of them and try to decide

  • @Therium1 EMG Xs. Best of both worlds. More pricey but definitly worth it.

  • should I get Blackouts or the JB - Jazz set ?? which ones are better for solos

  • he should learn somethin more towards metal for these vids :P These are very good pickups too. But i prefer my emg HZ's :D

  • is that richard kruspe's signature guitar?

  • Fuck, man. Even on the clean setting you can still hear some sort of Overdrive xD.

  • Do any guitars come with these pickups?

  • @xXshreddedmetalXx i think the schecter blackjack does

  • I hate when people constantly use his or her Floyd Rose so much it sounds like a bad acid trip!!!

  • i wish Guitar World would put more drop tunings on their vids. cuz standard doesnt beef up the tone as much as id like.

  • @lovejon2death That's because your hands are lacking in technique. You shouldn't have to resort to lower/drop tunings to sound brutal.

  • @Maxpound slipknot do pretty low tunings to get the tone and the brutal sound.

    SLIPKNOT FOREVER

  • @Maxpound

tell that to every good hardcore guitarist. i dont wanna dick around on a floyd, i dont wanna blast thirty second notes out for 30 minutes. just want more beef in the sound. Even toni iommi dropped the guitar down a half step, not because he wanted more chunk, but it worked. dont talk to me about technique cuz even paul doesnt have the sound im looking for.

  • @lovejon2death I don't care if you tune your six string down to drop F# if your technique is lacking then you still wont sound brutal. I don't mean to insult you but I'm just sick of seeing dudes down tune and think lower=brutal which isn't necessarily the case.

  • @Maxpound

i dont. im tired of people who think that one tuning can do everything. even country guitarists tune down their guitars. I doubt i play any of the same music as you so dont pretend to know how i play. and stop using the word brutal to describe my sound, because its not what im looking for.

  • @lovejon2death Whats the matter did I strike a nerve? Anyways you suggested that guitar magazines cater to your personal tastes of lower drop tuning...I mean HARDCORE tuning. I dont know exactly what music you play but based on your comments I have an accurate of it: that obnoxious drop F# brootles.

  • @Maxpound no youre just being extremely immature. i dont listen to any music associated with the word brutal. nor do i use that tuning. Hardcore is a genre not a way to describe my playing or the name i made for tuning your guitar. It may be my personal taste but many people agree. the magazine covers many different brands and styles of playing and musicians from all genres, i simply think to cater to many musicians, alternate tunings (dropped tunings included), may be necessary.

  • @Maxpound ps. check your grammar. you may think you know everything about guitars but learning to write is important too.

  • @lovejon2death ah yes...the asswipe who gets pissed off about being called out for being an generic pussy comments about grammar. i fucked up my grammar just to piss you off.

  • @Maxpound Ahh yes... the asswipe who keeps assuming. im far from pissed off. Keep em comin bud!

  • @lovejon2death You keep responding so that means something...Its quite entertaining

  • @Maxpound it means that i had something to say and you brought it to this point. If theres anything else you'd like to make up about my playing, go for it. I'd be happy to keep proving you wrong.

  • @lovejon2death Actually you proved jack shit about your playing. If you did I would have shut the fuck up long ago but were here in a pissing contest and I'm winning because my dick is bigger than yours.

  • @Maxpound im not gonna play something to prove it to you. I know what i sound like, where my weaknesses are and that you're the one who keeps this going by attempting to insult me. Im not gay so i dont give a shit about your dick size. having a bigger dick doesn't make you smarter, a better person, or a better guitarist. So to that i say, its not the size mate, its how you use it. its not a pissing contest if youre the only one talking shit. More of an interview. any more questions?

  • @lovejon2death hahaha You take yourself way too seriously(seriously thats ggonna give you high blood pressure). Nah dude I don't have anything against you or your style of music, I just wanted to troll someone for the shit of it have fun.

  • @Maxpound thats pretty obvious. maybe you try to get out more.

  • i like how the clean setting sounds like a song youd hear in a spanish western movie

  • @MrCORN1BREAD sounds like the lick i warm up to. egyptian riffs

  • I'm totally sold on these over EMGs. EMGs just sound generic to me. These definitely have more balls and more clearer sound, to me. Less muddy.

  • clean tone sucks balls dude

  • @TheMetalhead804 Not entirely true, check out my demo of these pick ups. I believe I have gotten an amazing clean tone.

  • @HailThyDrumKit yes you have i downloaded your video and put it on my ipod your playing is very good dude its just that this particular demo hasnt got the best clean tone

  • cleans are too distorted IMO

  • They sound beefy as shit distorted but the cleans are even more lacking than EMG cleans :(

  • @Visualundeath this guy always has a shitty clean tone... its not the pickups, his clean tones are always slightly clipping

  • @johnathandk42134 Yeah, I went and watched a few other reviews and they can actually get some pretty nice cleans.

  • i bought these like 2 years ago. someday i'll actually get around to putting them into my guitar.

  • This is a totaly chode when it comes to playing metal

  • @Direwarlord213 ESP/LTD RZK-600

  • Just ordered one today.

    Do i win? :P

  • Fuck, that gay dude again. Didn't notice that on first 10 seconds.

  • "They really pick up all the harmonics"

-Goes up the neck hitting a harmonic on every other fret-

    Fucking epic dude!

  • WHAT THE F*** KINDA GUITAR IS THAT 0.o

  • @Direwarlord213 It looks a lot like the Richard Z Kruspe signature by esp/ltd. I'm not sure, can't really make out the R for Rammstein.

  • @Direwarlord213 ESP RZK-I RICHARD Z. KRUSPE PS

  • 10 people have emgs.

  • @blockstar2013 hey emgs r cool and semour duncans r u cool to :)

  • @blockstar2013 hahahahaha

  • should i get normal blackout set or the blackout metal with the normal blackout neck in neck? i play thrash/death metal and my response to almost everything has always been theres no such thing as to much gain :)

  • @FirePower3006 The Blackout Metal pups are overkill my friend.

  • @Aviii well i have the mustaine livewires in my vmnt they are the most balanced pickups ive ever heard and sound amazing i heard they are like the jb/jazz but active what you think about those

  • @FirePower3006 I'm torn between the regular blackout AHB1 or w.e they are and the DM live wires. I just wish they didn't have mustaine's name on them because I don't particularly like having other ppls names on my stuff :p.

  • @Aviii thats how was at first but they sound great for leads and good chugging but the cleans arent to die for although i have a different taste for cleans then most people for instance i think the dimebucker has the best clean sound ive ever heard in my esp ltd kh-202 but its my taste but with the livewires their more warm sounding, also i play through a blackstar ht stage 60 tube and im getting a metal zone a digitech death metal pedals to play basically everything

  • @FirePower3006 I like a really full sounding clean that's piano like on the low strings and jangly on the high ones. I'm not so sure really hot pups like the DM livewire could pull that off but I've heard the blackouts could. Like you said, to each his own :)

  • @Aviii ....what about EMG X's?

  • @Wrathofkala Well, they were made to compete with the blackouts, but as far as I'm concerened that blackouts are still the better choice, and they're some of the best pickups Seymour Duncan makes.

  • The clean sounds like shit, but the distortion sounds badass!

  • @jamesthejaws Paul's cleans always sound like garbage, even if the pickups have decent clean tones.

  • @jamesthejaws Well any seymour duncan is for Rhythm Guitar, so if u want lead (Which is a good clean sound) get some EMG's =)

  • RAMMSTEIN RICHARD KRUSPE SIGNATURE

  • sounds quite dimebagy ^^

  • I can't tell if the breakup is from the amp or the pickups in the clean. Could anyone tell me?

  • @trokeification Probably the amp, Guitar World's clean tone is never actually clean.

  • @ChucklesMginty well i have the designed ones and they do distortion my clean chanel. These one seems even more powerful so i guess it is the pickup.

  • The blackouts (AHB-1) are awesome.

  • just got a schecter blackjack with these pick ups - SO AWESOME

  • It sounds like he needs to polish up those pinches....

  • PAUL YOU FUNKING ROCK

  • I always thought this guy was a fag but that riff at the end was fuckin crazy!

  • dude this is soooo much bs like hee prolly has a marshall and like 20 pedals i mean come on its guitar world they prolly have like a solid rig the best thing you can do is to guitar center or sam ash and play them

  • the clean isnt very clean

  • That "clean" setting is pretty "texas", paul. Just sayin.

  • Paul does the best reviews, like his Demmolition King V review also, cheers

  • ESP/LTD RZK-600

  • if they offer all the range...why didnt u say all the range?

  • is it me or is he playing a left handed guitar

  • @Darrenlawrence89 he's a righty

  • @Darrenlawrence89 No its a right handed esp richard Z model

  • @Darrenlawrence89 if the volume pots werent on that side then i would have thot that too!

  • His tone is wank, especially on the high gain. The high gain sounded pathetic

  • Sold

  • this guy whores the shit out of that whammy bar

  • this guy sucks he's pissing me off. when it was a "clean" tone he wouldn't lay off the fuckin whammy bar so it wasn't really clean. then his "harder" tones sounded like pure shit.

  • 'they offer more lows, more highs, more mids... So more everything? :')

  • @iRockOrange less compression :)

  • @Cyrsis13145 Ahh cheers dude :)

  • @iRockOrange Fuck yeah he does! Wow!

  • @iRockOrange Well, there is less compression, but i guess this can be seen as more gain XD

  • Wow holy shit, I watched this video by accident and am now sold on buying a set of these!!!

  • i have to say i think my blackouts and my livewires are probably the best rock/ metal pick ups ive ever played with , i think duncans are the way forward EMGs sound awsome but if u want to play rock/ metal and not just have the METALLICA sound i wouldn't bother with EMGs

  • this guy can make cheap 10$ hummbuckers seem like 1,000$ EMG's

  • @anthonyring123 a set of 2 blackouts are like 20 bucks cheaper than the EMG 81/85 set

  • @jonnitti1 i was just saying that he can make cheap shitty pickuos seem like expensive awesome pickups

  • @anthonyring123

    1-this pick ups arent cheap.

    2-EMG's dont cost 1000 dollars...

3-if ur referring to his skills then ill agree.

  • @jameschoi999 what the hell are you talking i got a set of blackouts for like 200 bucks were the hell do you get 1000 dollars from ?

  • @DeafSprungoffical im not talking to u! this retarded dude under my comment said blackouts are like 1k...dude can u think before typing?

  • @anthonyring123 except they are the same cost

  • Is it just me or does Paul look like the guy from Back To The Future...? lmao

  • yeah this guy is amazing but he seems like tho's creepy gay dudes tht just stare at you

  • hey this is the guys guitar from Rammstein

  • That clean sounded a bit crunchy. And the mid gain sounded a little high gain-ish. And the high... was... how do i put it in words?

  • does anyone know how the blackouts compare to the blackout modular pre-amp?

its supposed to be and upgrade for your passive pickups to give you to exact blackout tone, because its the same preamp they have in the blackouts.... but it seems to good to be true

  • terrible clean sound, they sound distorted in clean mode

  • @Gunslinger956 -- I'm pretty sure he actually used a low gain setting along with a compressor.

  • better than that fag jason spencer from worldmusicsupply.....

  • @RideTheLightning101 that guy doesn't even compare to Paul.

  • @RideTheLightning101

    Or "Whammy" haha

  • hey do these blackouts sound exactly like the ones being made now?

  • idk y everyone thinks he sucks hes awesome on guitar and hes really clear and informative

  • blackouts, EMG 81/ 85 set, or seymour invaders? please help! influences are Laiho, lamb of god, trivium.

  • @axeiston Invaders sound so low they are actually fuzzy... try some guitars with those pickups in them to see which tone you want. Advice: try the SD LiveWires

  • @axeiston Check out my Lamb of God covers recorded with SD invaders. Hope this will help. :)

  • Is that the Richard Kruspe signature?

Sound pretty sweet, think they'd work in my Hellraiser Tempest.

  • man i loved the part from to 0:50 to 1:29 !

  • not very impressed with the muddyneess to the pickups

  • @Guitarstring187 i think they may sound muddy due to the delay hes using

  • lets pump this guitar with a lot of distortion

  • VIBRATO IS PERFECT!!!OF COURSE , AND HIS HANDS.

  • Yeah, I prefer the Blackouts' clean tones, but EMG has me for distorted settings. I use both actually, so they balance each other out for what I play.

  • do u have to take off ur strings to put on new pickups?????

  • @Wolf4408 yes

  • @Wolf4408 yep

  • @Wolf4408 No, you just slide them underneath.....

Of course you have to remove your strings

  • @Blargaha Not necessarily. you can always drop the trem or super detune all the strings and take it out by sliding them in. it makes it doubly easy if they are the quick change ones.

  • @Necromal Valid point, but I think It's easier to just remove them. Well, as we swedes say; taste is like the butt, split:)

  • @Wolf4408 Have you ever even changed strings?

  • @Wolf4408

    Goddamn you're an idiot!!

  • sounds no different from my alnico classics!!! ( 8

  • i've got blackouts and i really like them. they feel more like passives to me, mostly because i play alot of lower gain settings alot, but they sound good for that actually. they clean up well rolling the volume knob off, which i do alot.

they can sound great for high gain metal, but i think they're more versatile than say EMG's. they feel more organic than EMG's to me, and to be honest if high gain metal was the only thing i played i'd probably go with EMG's, but these are more versatile IMO.

  • I prefer EMGs anyday than this ones, i didn't hear it that dirty when having gain on. =C

  • @MisticWays

black out sounds VERY similar to EMGs' actives.

  • Kaskus mase Safe mode :( , So juwalan PU Seymour Duncan AHB-1 BLACKOUTS dipesbuk dolo deh :D

  • jajajaja put the transcription of audio xD

    is fuckin hilarant xD

  • Emgs don t suck. It's tone preference I emgs are better than most stock pups so stfu. Blackouts are good to. I like emgs on bridge sounds bassy but grr

  • haha that guy needs to check into rehab hes really hooked on that tremelo arm.

  • That guitar looks sweet, and the pickups aint too bad themselves.

  • WOOP JUST GOT ONE OF THIS esp ltd rzk-600 but there beter with emg 81s.

  • great sound. Can you write which is model? blackouts AHB-1 or ahb-2 greetings

  • @adegamisoumounopa the Schecter Balckjack ATX C-7 comes with the blackouts

  • does anyone know of any 7 string guitar that comes with blackouts?

  • Paul Riarrio I think, and he can play any genre ever lol. Pretty sure he went to MIT. It's a choise of these, EMG's 85/81 or Bareknuckles.

  • are these better than the Dave Mustaine Livewire set ?

  • Wow the My stock pick ups in my RG commited suicide after watching this!!! M definately gonna get those l'il bastards!!!!EMG SUCKSSSSSS!!!

  • this guy is a fuckin beastttt

  • Pick up SEYMOUR DUNCAN AHB-1 BLACK OUT READY \m/ @ Tommy's Place

  • rammstien ftw

  • Failed. Using blackouts for fucking spaniol playing and divebombs.

  • @guitarmaster123456 they sure as shit beat those EMG's

  • @JaredFury idiot. I dont say blackouts suck, im buying them. But on this base of playing. wtf.

  • @guitarmaster123456 lol you gotta call me a fucking idiot for what reason? and No There Awesome In That "Base" of playing lol cant just say style?

  • Those Pickups are fucking amazing! But the guy who presents them is fucking gay!
