Me too! I first heard this in Love Jones about 12 yrs ago and I loved it! Love Jones was and is a classic! It had a poetry, photography, jazz, laughs, friendships, romance, make - ups, breaks - ups, and most importantly love. One of my all time favorites!
This is my first love's favorite song. She introduced me to the wonderful world of Jazz. Since we are no longer together, Jazz is much more to me than it was before.
I was listening to this from my mp3 today on the way home from school. It was raining but at the same time the "winter sun" was setting, Street lights where making the distant road look amazing.I was in a sad mood, but this song made my journey home a beautiful experience today. I should have put it on my mp3 player a long time ago.
Played this for my students while they were working because one intelligent little boy asked if I could play jazz instead of classical. 30 third graders give their thumbs up.
@isabee4 lol :D for a second I thought you were angry because your description says "marah!" which means "angry" in my native language. By the way, thanks for uploading.
@isabee4 Thank you for this post. Ilove this music. I never knew the name. Man so pleasing to the soul. My soul. hmmm nice on the ears. I could listen to this all day! Peace.
My father never loved. It makes me sad. I wrote a song about it. If you would like to hear send me a message with your phone # and I will sing it for you.
This piece brings tears to my eyes. It's one of the greatest of all times. I've been listening to this ever since I was a little girl. It's so dear to me. Even though I have it on my IPOD, I can listen to it over and over again. Thank You
I'm not a religious or spiritual person by any means. But I absolutely reject the notion that this is the product of a series of successful accidents. There has to be something else, someone else, this is too beautiful to come from chaos.
Listen to this song. Look into the eyes of your lover. Hold a new born child. We have to be here for a reason.
For years....I heard this for the first time on the Cosby Show as a kid. I couldn't find the song for a long time....when I found this.......it's still my ringtone.....you can't beat this.
This song gives my soul gooseflesh, my eyes tears, and my face a smile. I tap my feet, nod my head, and absorb the sounds through my very muscles. This is universally beautiful and transcendent of just talent, you can feel the spirit of love and happiness emulating, fluctuating, but ever and steadily potent. Thank you for the post.
You can get this on a Greatest Hits package called "The Gentle Side of John Coltrane" Used to be 2 albums (I have it on vinyl and CD) now it's on one disc I think.
First heard this on an episode of the Cosby Show. Also heard it in the movie Love Jones with Lorenz Tate& Nia Long. Just found out who recorded it . This is really cool. Quite sure my moms & uncle born in the 20's had this in their collection.
One of the few songs that can make you cry tears of joy and sadness seemingly at the same time. Listening to this song puts life in slow motion and allows you time to think and piece together things that had been shattered from life's experiences. This song is a classic because it has helped so many people and because it will never be done better than this recording. I'm 19 and this song truly speaks to the soul.
Two greats who lived a long time. Greatness doesn't have to stop at age 27. Coltrane had a long drug history, but prevailed. When your time is up. Your time is up. Ellington performed for decades. We dwell too much on the tragic deaths. Lets celebrate the ones who survive.
There are songs, and then there are songs! This is a close your eyes and drift off into what ever your happy place is jam! Peace to those that know and all those just finding out, I won't let you slide here, you shoulda known...................
how can 5 ppl dislike this they must b suffering from an ear infection, probably listenin to 2 much waka flokka!! idiots..am 22 and i understand this type of music..black music at its finest ..non of dat britney spears bullshit..
