how the fuck is the remake any better than the original considering it's shot line by line, scene by scene? it doesn't have the same irony or comedy as the original. not to mention the original is more gritty. this is nothing more than a water'd down version.

The very least I could do was watch a couple of the episodes of the UK version, and yeah,  it's good, but the American version is, so far, the exact same thing, except with better looking people. And it's made for American sensitivities, so I'm gonna stick with it. But it is kinda tempting to see where everyone ends up by Season 8.

Its a program about a dysfunctional family... & how they love & help eachother, no matter what their Character Defects are.-. they just accept them & deal with it, they try to make the best of things. It Dont really matter to me where the"original" program started.. If ya dont like it, dont watch it... no sense in b*tchin about the program.... just move on....

One thing, although they are a dysfunctional family with a lot of baggage . . . THEY ALL LOVE EACH OTHER AND STAND TALL IN SUPPORTING EACH OTHER. Everything falls together like a hand in a glove, they all help each other out. I'd rather look at this show than that DUMB ASS NO TALENTED "Jersey Shore"; hey all get paid to behave badly. It's all written in the script.

William H. Macy, a well respected actor; however, lacks the appropriate charisma for the roll as Jack Gallagher. As well, his cadence doesn't fit either. I would agree that between he and "Debbie", they are the only issue to throw the American version off. I wouldn't doubt the producers weren't disappointed about the very same.

@solmyr2 the american verision has high graphics and american accent, the uk version has a manchester accent and is not as expensivly done, in my oppinion watch the uk version the us version just plain out kills the show and wht made shameless the show it is.

I don't really understand what the big deal is...So what if it's based off a British show? 40 years ago, Norman Lear took a little British show called Till Death Do Us Part and retooled it, creating All in the Family, and there was another show called Steptoe and Son, it became Sanford and Son. This sort of thing has been going on for years, so everyone, be cool. Chill!

@PeterBluth except for threes company, when a show was brought over during the 70s, they totally retooled it for an american audience

now, they dont even bother changing the name, and only change minor plot points in the scripts

shameless in not just based on the uk series...its the exact shame show with american actors
