For all of you talking shit about "the crowd", I was in the crowd. This was a live TV show that aired on Mush Music, not a concert. Therefore, we had the Much Music trying to make sure that nothing got out of control. In between each song they would reiterate that there is no moshing allowed. People that got too rowdy were kicked out.

Its not that they are not good, but if you look at Daniel's influences, he had loads of different musical influences, and with the years, just for the fact that he grows, he changes his music and it is normal, some people like it more now, some people (and more likely the younger ones) prefer what he used to do... its just life...

it has nothing to do with age icanflyetc. the new music they make is boring, soft, slow, and seemingly FAKE. the old music had more passion, and was more fun, hard, and entertaining. how can you like this, and still like that new garbage. the new music is like techno-pop, this was alternative/post-punk/hard rock, and i'll take rock over pop or techno any day, sorry!

@Meldasue-I love REM (2nd fave band)too and alot of the stuff from the 80's,very versitile then but alot of the best stuff (Nirvana(my fave band) ect) started in the 80's that dominated the 90's (Radiohead)...dominated in terms of originality,who cares about mainstream? It is rare anyways that the mainstream caters to soul,depth,creativity or relevancy. Grunge is just the same as any other label before it-a way for corporations to dupe ppl into an image to buy some clothes and "fit in" too.Viva

I think it's more that music itself has changed. I was sick to death of grunge in the 90s because that's all you heard. It's easier now to look back at a Daniel Johns or Layne Staley and separate the talent from all the Seattle carbon copies.

Heh - but grunge came along at the same time Clear Channel ::spits:: started to buy up all the radio stations. It wasn't the bands' fault - the last thing they wanted to be was the new 'pop' - but that's what they became. To me, the great rock era was the 80s, when MTV actually played videos and people were exposed to a lot of different sounds. College radio played some awesome stuff - REM, The Replacements, 10,000 Maniacs - and none of them sounded like anyone else.
