gabe essien truly was a great gent and a wonderful man

There's no Phil Mason, Jack Gilbert, Ron McKay, 'Fingers' Williams or 'Gentleman JIm' amongst this lot but Max is still there - and to give him his due he plays a wonderful trombone...sadly he's always been under rated as a fine musician.

Pity that Gabe has gone now.He was really a fine clarinet player.

I met him once or twice when he was with the Savannah Band, always found him to be a lovely man.
