  • Word has it that this song was one of the last written for "Glass Houses"....a friend of Billy's came by the studio during the recording of this album with a young female "friend"....Billy really liked her...and wrote this song..for the longing he felt for her!

  • ONE person, just ONE disliked this. That person must be ashamed of themselves.

  • its crazy how this, for the longest time, piano man, are in my list for greatest songs of all time

  • My fav from the Glasshouses Album from 1980!!!

  • This song was stuck in my head also for a year in the 70s. Funny isn't it?

  • I can't get this song out of my head. Billy Joel can be so fucking badass sometimes.

  • MAN people miss out on all music! the radio just plays crazy, stupid, fucking wasting tyme kinda msuci some ppl are just blind as a blind dude! hah hah

  • I am Billy Joel's super fan.

  • @58riceman I get annoyed because the radio where I live hardly plays any Billy Joel songs. People miss out on his great songs.

  • Not his greatest. But underrated genius is better than most.

  • @DocPwn4g3 I wish i lived where you live

  • um..my name is LEYNA!!!

  • @nromerobla IT WAS ALL FOR YOU THEN... YOU BITCH!!!! ;)

  • me encanta, me encanta, adoro a Billy Joel....!!!!

  • Where i live this is always on the radio :)

  • @DocPwn4g3 thanks man for somebody like you that actually gets it. enjoy the tunes and rock on!!

  • @DocPwn4g3 Wow, where I live the only Billy Joel songs that ever come on the radio are Piano Man and The River of Dreams.

  • I recently picked up Billy Joel's Ultimate Collection so I could hear the songs everyone knows already (Uptown Girl, For the Longest Time, etc.), but I got to hear some awesome pieces for the first time. This is one. And yes, radio needs to pay the artists more credit than playing the same three songs over and over and over. A forty-year career (give or take)... I think there are other options.

  • one of the best songs ever, it got played last week on 3fm during the serious request week, some guy payed 500 euro's to have it played, now there's your hero, btw the raised money during that week was donated to the red cross.

  • this is billy's greatest song, too bad nobody evef heard it. radio sucks.

  • @58riceman One of my absolute faves for sure.

  • @58riceman I've heard it bro. I love this song. It's words can relate to any teenager on this earth. Pure emotional love...awesome. Just put your girl's name in the place of Leyna :)

  • tunesmith mastery.

  • Billy's best! I first heard this in the late 70's, still holds up well. Too bad over the air radio never plays this.

  • @58riceman

This song got it's airtime in Holland back then...On Hilversum 3 it's was played because of the album release...

  • @PMCcty thanks for the info, next time I'm in Holland your my man. Billy's best song is neglected in the States.

  • Billy Joel must have met my last GF. This was written with her in mind.

  • Takes me back to 1981 cruising around in my buddy's 78 camaro looking for chicks listening to Glass Houses on the tape deck!

  • Very nice song

Thank you very much for posting

  • The template for much of what Bon Jovi did in the 80's. Listen to "Runaway" and see if you disagree. One of Billy's great songs.
