  • I love this piece, definitely one of my favourites

  • so wonderful !! i love it <3

  • The opening is in andante... he plays it a bit too fast imo.

  • This is my favorite interpretation of this work.

  • 3:30 - 3:40 i could listen that all day

  • perfect!!

  • i just love this piece, and the contrast between the romantic opening and scherzando part

  • good

  • This is brilliant and I'm glad Jorge Bolet doesn't play this piece too fast. There are some parts that when played to quickly sound bad and he plays it just perfectly. I'm playing Prelude Pour le Piano by Claude Debussy, hence my screen name. I love him and Mendelssohn and Beethoven. Especially Beethoven. Bravo Jorge Bolet! You play this piece better than anyone I know!

  • love his phrasing!

  • Bolet forever!

  • Felix Mendelssohn wrote his marvelous Rondo Capriccioso at age 15......

You know, it's people like that that make you realize what little you've accomplished...

Still, lovely piece (I know, I used to be able to play it) and stellar playing.

Excellent posting, thank you so much. Master Bolet at his best

  • We seem to hear Schubert sonatas and Chopin nocturnes

  • when was this performed/recorded?

  • Mendelssohn was such a brilliant melodist. Listen to "Oh for the wings of a dove" or Spring Song.

  • does anyone know the history behind this piece? is the feeling of this piece's presto section supposed to be spark-like? fiery? fun? mocking? I can't quite place it. What about the Adante section? calm? sad?

  • Magnifique mais un peu lent pour un Caprice ...

  • Good!

  • composed this at age 15??? Holy .... I could not have composed that at age 15 O_o just.. no way.. actually i can't compose in general XD

  • fantastic, as always with Bolet

what a wonderfully inspired pianist, maybe the most underrated one of the 20th century...

  • I'm learning this piece for the first time.... I can feel me having to replace the battery in my metronome... haha

  • @RosandGuil2332 Im going to play this peace, tell me what metronome you use XD

  • it's such a pretty song! :)

  • love love love it so much :D

  • Amazing.

  • An outstanding performance! Thank you

    Ed for the posting!

  • Absolutely FANTASTIC interpretation of this piece! As far as tempo, I personally tend to get carried away and sacrifice clarity and diversity of mood. This rendition has inspired me to re-examine my own interpretation with fresh ears.

  • Brilliant piece. It's sometimes forgotten that Mendelssohn was a child prodigy.

  • Bolet is making this wonderful piece sound totally different. He has a certain understanding of the piece which is very well executed here.

  • Hard for me to choose among the interpretations of Annie Fischer and that of Jorge Bolet. The first is vivid and firework; Bolet's interpretation is more intimate and deep. At this point, I think I will take Bolet's rempdition as my inspiration while working on this paper : Bolet's has a clear understanding of the phrasing of this complex piece where it is quite easy to get lost.

  • @fredmex65 what do you mean by choosing among interpretations? If you are playing music, the interpretation should be of your own. I personally listen for different stylistics and interpretations that I add to my original if I feel theirs are more expressive or better than mine.

  • Such a good performance!! Mostly when i hear that composition, people are playing it tooooo fast, even hystericaly. This tempo i like very much, i can hear every moment clearly and i think it machs good with the name "Rondo Capriccioso". Well, i also prefer to play it in this tempo:)

  • Really good :D

  • cool! i played it a few years ago, love this piece. and i love his articulation too. :]

  • wow incredible sound totally love his pedalying

  • excellent !!!!

  • At last, someone who plays it like I do. Haven't played it for about 10 years just started practising it last again month but it's coming along faster than I thought. He has a couple of passages which I prefer to the way I played it that bring out the melody so I'm going to relearn those but with his styling.

  • @baxterpoo who cares

  • @BasileusR

    I do.

  • @baxterpoo Be original, don't copy others.

  • so nice ;;)

  • I Love it.

  • great interpretation! I love the sound of his playing.

  • Very nice

  • Unusual interpretation, but very beautiful.

  • Very beautiful. Favoriet!

  • Belo!
