Hey Guys!! yeah you :D ! LIKE BOTH MONKEES AND BEATLES???? THEN............ Join the Club!!!! go to my channel BeatlesMonkees post on my wall or message me :D Come on guys.
This was a latter Goffin-King composition, after they moved to California. Gerry and Carole decided they should write more than just love songs so they picked contemporary topics. This was about groupies. A more famous Goffin-King song of the same type that the Monkees recorded was Pleasant Valley Sunday - about the life in the suburbs in the 60's.
this is from an episode where aliens came to earth and abducted Micky and made a robot version of him, to spy on the Monkees and other humans so they could take over the world... some1 must have been high when they wrote that lol
This is my favorite Monkees song.. Micky- ahhh :) so cute. lol. I saw him and he was busy so i was going to leave him be, but he stopped talking to the other person and grabbed my hand, then he smiled at me and was like "Hiiii~" I melted. XD
Peter kissed my mom so I don't really think i can look at him the same way again. Full on tongue right in front of me.
@ Deshahubble Actually Star Collector was used in a few episodes. I think the first one was Wild Monkees, then Hitting the High Seas, and finally the one you mentioned, Monkees Watch Their Feet. There might have been 1 more I thnk their might have been another one, I think the Monkees Race Again (Leave The Driving To US).
I am tired of people picking on the Monkees, cuz they only wrote a handful of their songs. Until the mid-sixties, many groups didnt write their stuff. There is a lot of great pop here, strong stuff. The silly TV show hurt their credibility, kind of like Alfred Hitchcock and his TV antics made some forget he was a fine filmmaker
@spiderkiss but the silly TV show is why the Monkees were created! There would be no Monkees without the silly TV show. Look, let's understand that they were pre-fabricated. It just so happened that they became real, and then went beyond the show. They made great songs, mostly written for them, but numerous ones they wrote themselves. Period. I have no problem with the TV show. I still enjoy it.
does anyone remember the episode that this song was played in? it was with an alien plant that hypnotized people thru the tv? i cant remember the title.
@Gowansgroupie The Frodis Caper is my all-time fave Monkees episode, possibly the most bizarre 30 minutes of prime time TV in 1968. You can almost smell the weed burning in the background!
@deshahubbell This clip was actually first played at the end of Hitting The High Sees(the pirate episode where Mike actually got sea sick and had to sit out the episode. lol)
Or better informed? Mike was the one with the creative streak. Pete turned into a good musician. Mickey could sing and Dave had to be whipped into shape to play some percussion. They all developed chemistry. Originality, not so much.
there is a Monkees song ive been lookin for but i dont know the name and have been havin a hard time lookin for it ....can anybody help me with the name.......the lyrics goes like this....(In this generation ..in this loving times...we will make the word shine..)
Yes you did. It's one of the very first uses of a synthesiser in a pop song. If not for a release by a lesser known band a little earlier, The Monkees use of the synthesiser on Star Collector and Daily Nightly on the Pisces Aquarius Capricorn & Jones Ltd. album would be its first appearance on a pop record.
This song is in no way dirty. It is about a guy being chased by a girl who only likes him for his fame and fortune. If he stops being sucessful she will leave, so he has no respect for her and will not start a relationship with her. It was the Monkees' way of rejecting the superficial aspects of stardom. Cuddly Toy is a bit dirty, but I still love it!
@TheMonkeesRock It's about a boy seducing a girl and then dumping her afterwards. "You're not the only cuddely toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy." Haha, not exactly as innocent as it sounds. I don't like the anti-feminist attitude, but we have to remember that it was 1960s. Unfortunately, popular music today seems to have gotten a lot worse in that department.

even though it may have been written about groupies, doesn't it remind you
of people who only hang with those who
are talented and popular. too bad they
don't look harder at others who aren't.
oldermusiclover 2 years ago
True point. I thought it was like all those groupies who write books about their famous shags 40 years later. "I slept with Jim Morrison" ect.
These days fame seems to equal wisenes or something. In the 60s maybe but now celebs are just parrots.
thatsthewayitgoes09 2 years ago
not always wise. look at Michael Vick, etc.
wisness doesn't always come with age, take it from me. but you are right about the
