  • So, Mike plays a stick, then doesn't, then grabs from Mick and plays it again ?? Hummm....

  • Reiko the Zombie Shop

  • Daily Nightly is a litttle bit better song

  • the guys were alwayscomplainng about being controled musicaly, but damm they had very good contol. they were blessedly contolled !!

  • Kind of a PaperbackWriter Harmony refrain huh?

  • SNL "Sprockets" as the Monkees

  • This was a latter Goffin-King composition, after they moved to California. Gerry and Carole decided they should write more than just love songs so they picked contemporary topics. This was about groupies. A more famous Goffin-King song of the same type that the Monkees recorded was Pleasant Valley Sunday - about the life in the suburbs in the 60's.

  • peters hott!!!!!!!!!!

  • @destiny9034 Peter's always hot!

  • The chorus "Star-ar-ar Collector...Collector of Stars" is reminiscent of Paperback Writer....

  • This song made me wanna go out and buy a tambourine more than anything

  • this is from an episode where aliens came to earth and abducted Micky and made a robot version of him, to spy on the Monkees and other humans so they could take over the world... some1 must have been high when they wrote that lol

  • This is the one song I cannot get out of my head...FOR A LONG TIME!!!! Fabulous!

  • This is my favorite Monkees song.. Micky- ahhh :) so cute. lol. I saw him and he was busy so i was going to leave him be, but he stopped talking to the other person and grabbed my hand, then he smiled at me and was like "Hiiii~" I melted. XD

Peter kissed my mom so I don't really think i can look at him the same way again. Full on tongue right in front of me.

  • they're wearing the same outfits they wear for the "daily nightly" clip. i wonder if this was filmed on the same day.

  • brings me back to after school watching on tv

  • @metalicult for me this show was on durring summer vacations from school in the morning. I now own the box set.

  • Nice verison

  • It Monkees Mind Their Manor

  • @ Deshahubble Actually Star Collector was used in a few episodes. I think the first one was Wild Monkees, then Hitting the High Seas, and finally the one you mentioned, Monkees Watch Their Feet. There might have been 1 more I thnk their might have been another one, I think the Monkees Race Again (Leave The Driving To US).

  • I always laugh when Mike takes the giant drumstick away from Micky (who was shooting it like a gun) and starts using it to play guitar.

  • I remember it from mutiney in the high seas episode.

  • Not my favorite tune...that would be "Sweet Young Thing" Dude that played the lead alien was also an evil alien on an Episode of Star Trek.

  • I used to date the Monkees road manager, Brendan Cahill..I went to a recording of this song when I was 17...will never forget it...

  • @usctoni That is tooooo cool!!! :-)

  • I love this song

  • This makes me want to drop Tubesock acid again and just goof off about the place! Placido!

  • i like the song i think the monkees was a good band i could see why they have so many fans in the 60's and even now

  • I always thought that thing flashing above looked like a set of tits.

  • I like focusing on the keyboards in this song. Great work here.

  • I used to dream about these guys alll the time when im was a child back in the 60s..

  • ironically i still do and im 45

  • I am tired of people picking on the Monkees, cuz they only wrote a handful of their songs. Until the mid-sixties, many groups didnt write their stuff. There is a lot of great pop here, strong stuff. The silly TV show hurt their credibility, kind of like Alfred Hitchcock and his TV antics made some forget he was a fine filmmaker

  • @spiderkiss but the silly TV show is why the Monkees were created! There would be no Monkees without the silly TV show. Look, let's understand that they were pre-fabricated. It just so happened that they became real, and then went beyond the show. They made great songs, mostly written for them, but numerous ones they wrote themselves. Period. I have no problem with the TV show. I still enjoy it.

  • Remember on a hot summer day this would come one......thanks Monkees!

  • circa 1968

  • And you're her stepping stone.

  • Wow! Am I ever ready to hit the hookah! Nice way of working the hat in there too Mike!

  • does anyone remember the episode that this song was played in? it was with an alien plant that hypnotized people thru the tv? i cant remember the title.

  • It was called The Frodis Caper.

  • @Gowansgroupie The Frodis Caper is my all-time fave Monkees episode, possibly the most bizarre 30 minutes of prime time TV in 1968. You can almost smell the weed burning in the background!

  • @Gowansgroupie Yeahhhh!!! The Frodis plant rocked!!!

  • @deshahubbell : I think it was also in the episode 'the Monkees Mind Their Feet', which involved an alien invasion.

  • @deshahubbell This clip was actually first played at the end of Hitting The High Sees(the pirate episode where Mike actually got sea sick and had to sit out the episode. lol)

  • @deshahubbell I thought it was also on an episode where someone made a clone or a robot of Mickey. Don't know.

  • @deshahubbell monkees watch thier feet

  • i love this song!!!! super trippy

  • I haven't seen or heard this song in over twenty years. Thanks for posting.

  • If I'm not mistaken, this song contains the first use of a Moog synth in a Top 40 record.

  • i think you are right. some one showed it

to Micky and he loved the sound.

  • Actually Moog was first top 40ed by the Doors in Strange Days. Don't accuse the Monkees of anything original except Mike's Elephant Parts.

  • dumbinallthings

  • Or better informed? Mike was the one with the creative streak. Pete turned into a good musician. Mickey could sing and Dave had to be whipped into shape to play some percussion. They all developed chemistry. Originality, not so much.

  • nevermind my iPhone told me the name of this song.....my iPhone knew it all along....

  • there is a Monkees song ive been lookin for but i dont know the name and have been havin a hard time lookin for it ....can anybody help me with the name.......the lyrics goes like this....(In this generation ..in this loving times...we will make the word shine..)

  • that would be "For Pete's Sake", i think.

  • wrong song. i don't remember the song

they are looking for, but it may be on the

last album they made, or onthe movie

    Head.

  • Written by Peter Tork

  • the name of the song is" for petes sake"

  • Hi Moe. The song is "For Pete's Sake". Hope this helps.

  • i would like to read about all those star collectors that davy had...

  • Mike was already rich ...his mom invented liquid paper...he had a head start ...

  • Very Nice song!!

    Simple is Tanjun!!

  • Peter is the oldest Monkee.

  • even though it may have been written about groupies, doesn't it remind you

of people who only hang with those who

are talented and popular. too bad they

don't look harder at others who aren't.

  • True point. I thought it was like all those groupies who write books about their famous shags 40 years later. "I slept with Jim Morrison" ect.

These days fame seems to equal wisenes or something. In the 60s maybe but now celebs are just parrots.

  • not always wise. look at Michael Vick, etc.

wisness doesn't always come with age, take it from me. but you are right about the

tell all books. i think we all know more about people then we'd like. ps you would

like the book writen by Mikey Dolenz.

  • Great old Carole King-Gerry Goffin song - they wrote so many great Monkees tracks.

  • I'm giving myself the peace sign

  • fantastic memories! whay can't life be so simple now?

  • Life was never simple. Wake up.

  • does mtv still do Monkees marathons?

  • I WISH

even though i prob wasn't even born, definitely not.

  • tV LAND USED TO AIR THEIR SHOW.

DON't know if that is so STILL.

  • @oldermusiclover ya they do i watch itbut its on METV

  • One Of Alltime Favorite 60's TV Show .

  • Did I hear a Moog ?!?!

  • Yes you did. It's one of the very first uses of a synthesiser in a pop song. If not for a release by a lesser known band a little earlier, The Monkees use of the synthesiser on Star Collector and Daily Nightly on the Pisces Aquarius Capricorn & Jones Ltd. album would be its first appearance on a pop record.

  • @Suckerfly I think it is a first one, a landmark

  • I really the sound of DAVY JONES VOICE

  • You really what the sound of DJV?!?

  • whoa. my tongue feels too big.

  • WOOOOAH! Nicely done! Very trippy :) Thanks for posting :D

  • This song is in no way dirty. It is about a guy being chased by a girl who only likes him for his fame and fortune. If he stops being sucessful she will leave, so he has no respect for her and will not start a relationship with her. It was the Monkees' way of rejecting the superficial aspects of stardom. Cuddly Toy is a bit dirty, but I still love it!

  • You deep thinker

  • @FoxTreatment um They're called groupies listen closer ;)

  • @FoxTreatment How is cuddly toy dirty?

  • @TheMonkeesRock It's about a boy seducing a girl and then dumping her afterwards. "You're not the only cuddely toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy." Haha, not exactly as innocent as it sounds. I don't like the anti-feminist attitude, but we have to remember that it was 1960s. Unfortunately, popular music today seems to have gotten a lot worse in that department.

  • @FoxTreatment oh lol

  • uh......no?

  • Thank you a million times!!!

  • when i was a kid in 86 or 87,i used to watch this on nickelodeon and still have the chotrus in my head BUT,....I THOUGHT a then they were saying,"cause she's the star track runner..." i guess i was pretty close,30 now so... yikes

  • i absolutely love this!

  • the dirtiest song the monkees ever did. it's very subtle and tongue and cheek..but definitely dirty.

  • Dirtiest Monkees' song? How about "Cuddly Toy?"

  • Nope "Randy Scouse Git" the very name means "Horny guy from Liverpool"

  • Okay are you dumb? Its not dirty in any way.

  • It's about one girl and im not the stupid one here..Now fuck off.I'm done here :)

  • interesting.....people hate the truth....this song is (in fact) a 'cynical' song about groupies.

  • I used to watch this show every week! (my dad hated it) but I was also a "hippy kid" and that was an awsome ride! Met Davy in person!\

    lol monkees!

  • I'm only 15, but when I was about 7 or 8 I watched the Monkees in the 90's

  • Haha me too!Exactly!I had a hug crush on Peter than my mom told me he was older than her!lol I looove the monkees :)

  • I THINK dAVY WAS THE YOUNGEST.

    AND MIKE THE OLDEST. Everybody

now thinks Mike is a Jerk, but he stood

up for his principles. Also he had the last

laugh, unlesss they are divorced, he is

    rich.

  • Peter (1942) is the oldest, then Mike (1943), Micky (1945-Mar) & Davy (1945-Dec). Davy & Mike share a birthday.

  • Nez is December 30th 1942

  • @dlc41669 what r the years for and REALLY I ALWAYS THOUGHT MIKE WAS THE OLDEST!!!!!! must be cuz im 13

  • I have to admit, I'm more of a Davy fan then the others, but I really like Peter in this video

  • Mike makes those horrible glasses look incredibly sexy.

  • This was a great monkees song and clip from the show. I like the ending of this film clip, and the episode when there playing this song, motorcycling racing with the biker gang.

  • Groovy!!

  • Oh God I love this song so much!!! :) Thanks for posting, very trippy! :)

  • so good, I love

  • Psychedelic!! Thanks for posting :)

  • The Monkees \o\
