it was supposed to be her going back to wonderland after having the dreams as a kid thirteen years later, thats what no one understands!

Yeah the original animated Disney version is actually called Alice in Wonderland Through the looking glass Which that has really nothing to do with the original story basically. So this version that Tim Burton did was based off of the actual book. So that's why it was so different. :)
