Yes but nothing like that could survive anywhere we dont know anything about. Open ocean is the only place something like that could survive. something we know near enough everything about.

Well you also have to remember that not everywhere in the ocean has land nearby, and some water is so deep humans can't get down there, so something could be so far out in the vast ocean that there's no possible way anyone would be there to see it. For example the Marianas Trench is like 7 miles deep or so? There's no way of telling what lives down there.

Not necessarily the Blue Whale is twice the size of the Megalodon and they've survived throughout the years. I'm not trying to argue, all I'm saying is I've heard too much from people that we really don't know that much about our own ocean. There's too much of it to be able to investigate every single part of it at once. If we knew so much about the ocean, people wouldn't get lost at sea.

As far as the animal concerned, the sub smelled like absolutely nothing...nothing familiar anyway.

It rather would bump into the sub, because it got either blinded by the lights (not in this case, maybe...because of the red lights), or confused by the electrostatic field around the sub.
