--We are the real countries, not the boundaries drawn on maps with the names of powerful men. I know you will come and carry me out into the palace of winds. That's all I've wanted— to walk in such a place with you, with friends, on earth without maps. -Katharine Clifton
OMG, this is my favorite movie of all times...I still remeber how I cried on the theater when Almasy lifted Katherine out from the cave...
this subject for my sadness, with 9 OSCAR,with this simple story;with the conte Almasy, with Love, with Treason, with political War...with this incredible writting by Ralph,WE DIE....
Please tell me where the score for this clip came from?? (It's not the score from the film)
I recognize the last music from Michael Mann's "Last of the Mohicans" and it sounded like the first part was Alison Krause, but the orchestration in the middle was very nice, and I can't place it.
I commented on this video months ago but I have to do so again since it's just so amazing! I just watched the movie again (I can't get enough of it!) and you did an excellent job on this. Could you please tell me the name of that beautiful piano piece starting at 2:32? I know you mentioned the names of all the songs before but I couldn't find this one. Anyways great job, 5 stars!(p.s. Fiennes is to die for *sigh*)
I tradimenti di guerra sono bambinate a confronto dei nostri tradimenti in tempo di pace. I nuovi amanti sono nervosi e teneri, ma rovinano ogni cosa perchè il cuore è un organo di fuoco...
The film is a wonderful evocation of the book. I work as a geologist on the western side of the Gilf Kebir in Egypt which is where Almasy explored (we found remains of his camp there in 2001, now destroyed by idiots). The cave is really an alcove facing west, and you can lie in it with the paintings above as the sun sets and with broken grain grinding querns beside you and imagine the people who swum in the depression in front perhaps 10,000 years ago.
No, he was real enough - but apparently not interested in women and he did run German spies across the Libyan-Egytpian border in WWII - why not? he was Hungarian and Hungary was allied to Germany at the time. Many of the British contemporaries and colleagues of Almasy, e.g. Bagnold (Long Range Desert Scout Group)used their desert knowledge to fight in the southern Libyan desert.
The last scene is really really sad and can't help my self to wipe the tears from my eyes. This is the best movie that I ever seen. For those who haven't saw it, shame on you!
nenyures, you did a wonderful job. ignore the idiotic comments. It's call creative input and that's what you did. Besides it would be a bore to rehash the soundtrack where's the imagination. Great job, where can I find the diana krall piano only?
the english patient is one of the great movies of the last 20 yrs. thank you for capturing its essence so beautifully, handing it in a silver platter for the next generation to enjoy.
this is really great!!!!!! the music goes really well with it, i wonder, have you ever read the book? i have just finished it, alot of the things that happen in the film, such as kip taking hana into the church didn't happen in the book, but it is still such a great film!!!!!!!!!!!!
The songs are: "You will be my ain true love" by Alison krauss; "Love is where you are" by Diana Krall (only the begining); a song from City of Angels's soundtrack, composed by Gabriel Yared (I don't know the title); "I will find you" by Clannad. Thanks for your comment ;)
I agree that a little respect is in order. Therefore, with all due respect, i think the music does absolutely no justice to how beautiful the film is. You would have been better of using the music from the film itself.
Well, I respect your opinion but I think the music is really wonderful and inspires me to do this video more than the original soundtrack (which is fantastic too :)
Personnally i think that Nenyures did an excellent job with the video. Whether you like the video or not, theres really no need to insult someone else's work nor is there a need to call anyone an idiot. If you dont like something dont watch it, simple as that.
Music of the Cold Mountain-great choice, really suits to The English Patient. This is one of my favorite films(and the Cold Mountain is another one fave:), very wonderful story, great novel, incredible talented director and actors/actresses! And, Ralph Fiennes--- wow!!

Good movie, the man Count Almasy did exist but not all of what happened in the movie or book did.
It made for a great movie however.
