  • Lesbians....<333

  • It sure does, and thank you for your courage in making this video!

  • One of my favorites! That was great!

  • OMG you two are fabulous, both as singers, and wonderful role models. I admire you soooo much. Why has no one offered you both roles in a production of Der Rosenkavalier somewhere, it would be ridiculously romantic!!!

  • It's kind of disappointing that this video is the most viewed of Patricia all because she is gay - sad...

  • @HeidelbergSoprano Forget about her being gay...the woman is an amazing artist. I have had the pleasure of seeing her many times on the stage and she is simply incredible. I invite anyone who loves opera if they ever have the opportunity to see this fabulous artist at work.

  • @vnessie1 I'm just saying its her most viewed video by several thousands views not judging her beautiful voice :/

  • @HeidelbergSoprano Okay...understood...yes, people are certainly missing out if they are not looking at her performance videos because she is simply an amazing artist. However I can understand that people are excited that she and Beth are out, proud and very happy together.

  • Oh wow, I never would have guessed that Patricia Racette was a lesbian. Glad to see that she and Beth have a happy marriage. :)

  • KICK ASS

  • Yay! Patricia Racette is one of my favorite sopranos. Thanks to both of you for saying yes to love and to sharing your lives with us.

  • :D Opera singers who are lesbians who are married <3 YAY! :D

  • Patricia Racette is such a classy lady and a great artist. I'm so glad she and Beth Clayton made this video.

  • Great artist, great singer, great woman! I admire her and respect her so much!

  • Thank you Beth and Pat-you are both awesome

    Mary/San Francisco

  • @skbnvacaville I was going ot write a response but you know what??? your post doesn't deserve one

  • @skbnvacaville I'm sure if you showed Ms. Racette a photograph of herself as a child, she would clearly identify that child as a lesbian, with a full explanation of how she knew that even way back then.

She was never what you thought she was, and your misunderstanding is not her fault. They're not telling you to get over them being gay. They're telling you to get over you being mistaken.

You're throwing away something you love just because you made a mistake. I feel sorry for you.

  • you two are absolutely stunning. and your happiness makes me so happy ! i hope i can have what you have one day : ]

  • Maybe Nathan Gunn knew something the audience didn't when he chose Graham ;). I didn't know this about Racette! What a beautiful artist.

  • awww you guys are really cute 2gether! :)

  • I didnt know she was gay. Theyre adorable. :)

  • Patricia must be pleasured by Beth's nose.

  • Oh my I had no idea she was gay O.o

  • the recent string of bullying of gays is really sad. But what on earth does this have to do with anything? why do these two need to be going around telling people they're gay? who cares? gay, straight, who gives a damn? Does every singer need to identify his/her sexuality when asked about their career? why can't they just be people, first and foremost? They should focus on their singing. Especially Clayton, who isn't really that great.

  • @moremayoplease it matters because queer youth are killing themselves believing they have no hope is unforgivable. and we have a right to be honest about who we are. get used to it. there's more to come.

  • @moremayoplease These women are forcused on being singers, BUT like you said, they are people first and foremost. Which means they have a responsibility as people and as public figures to support and give hope to their brothers and sisters who might be suffering. It's actually not for YOU- it's for the people who need it. And believe it or not, when people you admire give a message of hope, it can really make a difference.

  • @moremayoplease Also, they were not interviewed about their 'careers', this was an interview with a very specific focus, for a very specific campign, targeted at specific people. It was entirely appropriate. While it's lovely that you don't 'give a damn' about who is gay or straight, many others don't veiw the world that way, and as long as people continue to struggle, messages of hope and support are very important.

  • @moremayoplease they're just showing to teens like me that they're gay, and look at how successful they are. they aren't using their sexuality to define their career, they're showing that they're living it up even though they're gay. :)

  • They are amazing, the two of them. Patricia is such an inspiration, especially to this young singer in particular :)

  • SPLENDID!

  • Great message! You are both wonderful people as well as artists!!!! Thank you for getting the message out that it's wonderful to be truthful and that you are helping young(and probably older) people see that being gay is nothing shameful but a natural variation in life! Bravi!

  • THANK YOU Beth & Patricia!!! You are TWO remarkable Women!!

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you, this was great! Love the last line - love and art!!

  • "You pinched my cover" Cute lol

  • They are so sweet and beautiful! Hope it helps someone...

  • @sletvin1 I totally disagree with you, I think they're super cute together and seem to be really good to each other. I don't think this seems forced or fake at all. As somebody else said, they are both very charismatic, and lovely, and I think they really seem to be in love.

  • @sletvin1 I don't see that at all! I thought the smooth effortless hand holding was so sweet, it looked like something they've done a thousand times before. They looked sooo in love....*sigh*

  • Hey MetropolitianOpera, Beth is Patricia's WIFE not just the american second class relationship classification of partner. Do you use partner to designate your spouse?

  • love it! thank you! thanks for sharing your story....

    Brava, Divi (?)

  • As both an opera fan and a supporter for human rights, I say bravi! Looking forward to more performances on the stage from you both.

  • I love this......good for both of you.

  • Thank you SO much, Patricia and Beth. I am not an opera fan but when the song is well written and it is sung well, I can appreciate it.

My opinion of opera doesn't matter here. You two are just great ambassadors of opera that is not a snooty indulgence but a way to express yourselves with all of your heart and soul - wherever it may lead.

  • Wonderful! How brave and courageous both of you are, besides being beautiful and articulate. Love your voice, confidence, and charm, Patricia.

  • Brava Ladies!

  • Thank you Pat and Beth, great message!

  • Thank you ladies....you are the best....love the message.

And may I thank both of you for your brilliance and artistry on the opera stage.

  • The greatest pants role!! Bravo!!!

  • YOU GO GIRLS!!!

  • Thank you ladies!!! I am also a lesbian opera singer; I was a naive little undergraduate in a small southern university when I read the Opera News article about you two. It gave me courage to come out to my colleagues and peers; and it was also an affirmation that being "out" would not hinder my career that I was starting to build and am still building.

  • Wonderful video. Thanks for doing this!

  • thank you pat and beth!!!!
