3 speed slushbox=fail. otherwise it's an incredible work of engineering by an american company. the m12 wasn't any better. thankfully the saleen s7 compensates for the overall failure of the vector marque.

I saw a 2009 Mercedes C-Class Gun Metal Gray, that was awesome. I never seen a W8 that color. But I'm sure it looks good.

It was the original V8 (used also in the W2), & yes, it had twin turbos, & 600+ crazy horses!

look at those 1992 R&T stats...the Vector W8 ran a 12.0 1/4 mile at 124 mph when the viper ran 13.1 and the vette 13.9...Testarossas were running mid-13's as were early diablos...the diablo never ran 124 mph quarters...it takes a perfectly tuned murcielago to run that trap speed and then it'll blow up the clutch and need every gasket and seal replaced...the vectors drivetrain was bulletproof and vastly superior to the lambo drivetrain used in the M12 model built after the MegaTech takeover.

As a Vector fan, I sure am happy to hear what you say, & yes the W8 was fast, but what concerned me was the reliabilty of the 3 speed automatic,& some minor heating problems, but yes, this car really knew how give a hard time for Diablos & F40s when in a good shape at the time...

Iv'e heard of vectors back in the late 80's into the 90's,I have vcr tape on it.i heard they had mechanical problems and really didin't impact the Sports car world as they anticapated,I think it was over kill in technology (Was itnecessary)Good looking car...

You are correct in everything you said.Yes they had problems (especially regarding transmission & ventilation),& yes it was a technological over kill.But it sure was a great car,& it's a pity it didn't have enough time to prove it's true colors.

I came into alot of money awhile back and was desperate to buy one..... I WONT shit talk it bad.....but talk to the PRESIDENT OF THE FAN CLUB.....he told me to see them at show....never buy one....ask him......apparently they have bad problems....alot of stigma.....and dont turn....seriously ask him.

BUT....theres a new one on the way....ITS GORGEOUS...SUPPOSEDLY hits 275 MPH....but Vectors lied since day one....but its gorgeous

Again you're mostly right,the W8 also had some technical problems, but it was so gorgeous & advanced even for the 90's, & acheived at least 90% of it's claimed performance figures- if I had the money & the opportunity then, I most definitely would have bought me one,even though I knew about it's teething problems.The new WX-8 has serious design issues & performance numbers credibility matters,& only future will tell of it's fate...

It was a direct competitor to the Diablo,since they both appeared in the 1990/1991 year period,but as far as I'm concerned no direct test was made pitting them against each other-the only W8 group test I know of was the one Road & Track made,putting it against the Viper & the Corvette,but in a nut shell,& to be honest,the Diablo was a better all-rounder,especially in the running gear (engine & transmission)reliabity matter...

Amen to that- as a matter of fact, to my eyes, yes the W8 has the general dimensions of the Countach, but they are worlds apart in detail- it's hard to compare the W8 with it's flush fitted windows, it's high narrow nose & notch-back design, with the Countach with it's angular un flush-fitted windows treatment, low flat wide nose, & swoopy fast-back design for starters...
