  • nothing with batteries works... laptops, mobile phones... battery is always the problem

  • for fools it's japan where left handed driver seat awkward and if u buy american version so it will be right handed!

  • @soomrojawad Sorry matey. Wrong handed , lol

  • Who has money to buy a Leaf, also has to solar panel.

Leaf is 99% recyclable, Batteries will be bought by Nissan after 10 years.

Next year will have autonomy of 300 km.

  • /watch?v=X3yGSJE53kU

  • Suck my balls, hippies!

  • help me i live in an apartment how do i charge then

  • This car technology is great but the driving seat is in the left side! it sucks this way.

  • @SuperSaqer um 2 things first the driving seat is on the right :P simple mistake tho...

and secondly the american version is left hand drive. depends on what country you buy it in.

  • wtf/

     ? no sound?

  • @terrancelueckgen The video was made with no sound to give the impression that the car is so quiet. Last time I heard one drive past me, it sounds like they have given it some sort of high pitched tone because it was too quiet and would cause road kill on every corner. How do I know? I work for Nissan.

  • well i guess u cant put a FAT 200 lbs obese in there lol.

  • Fast

    Quiet - Fast - Efficient - Relaxing

    Roomy - Easy

Stylish - Futuristic - Quick Charge at dealers?

    Bought it !

    Love it !

  • I think my guy friends would laugh at me if i drove a car that looks its for soccer moms. the car is ugly...why would they make them ugly...theres lots of nice looking small cars...why not make it look like those.

  • Ugly car | cute girl! I want 'em...both!! :-)

  • looks very roomy and practical compared to a sports car or a sedan.

Right on that's the exact configuration most people would want

beautiful car high tech can it deliver on it's promise it's a Nissan most likely it will exceed expectations

  • The transmission could be difficult to get used to, but it looks quick and easy. Just hold down the button and push in the direction of the shifter (Drive, Reverse, or Neutral). When the light is lit up on the small diagram, I think it means the car is parked. This is a really good car for city driving and has a flashy exterior.

  • Thumbs up to leave this message on the top to help answer always the same following stupid question!

But electricity comes from coal no?

    Answer :

The power source may be coming from coal powered plants but it uses the power far more efficently than a combustible engine and therefore pollutes FAR less than ICE motors.

Secondly, it has the ability to be powered from renewable non polluting energy sources like wind,solar.hydro,ect..

Electric cars are the future and nothing will stop it.

  • @gisellemartins20 not so. say the electric comes from an oil powered station, ok you convert the oil into mechanical energy, then into electrical energy then transform the voltage and send it down wires, then transforn the voltage down, then again in the battery charger, then convert to dc, then convert to chemical energy in battery then reconvert to electric, then convert to ac electric then to mechanical power (motor) and use it. all these conversions are very inefficient.

  • @gisellemartins20. it is far more efficient to convert this same oil to mechanical energy in a diesel engine and use it. and you can use renewables like ethanol or bio diesel now.

  • With the vary high price of petrol, these babies are going to sell like hotcakes.

  • that is one ugly car there is.

  • @gcamiloc092 Too bad they can't somehow understand that people might be more interested in new teck cars if they also built them to look like you might want to be seen in one of them! Make it look like a sports car... might get some interest from the people who buy most of the cars.

  • @mikey458mikey You could not have said it any better.

  • Well ... it's not exactly a looker--but it's an all-frickin'-electric car. THAT is a step in the right direction.

    Good for you Nissan.

  • Does the driver come with the car? If so ill have two :) She'd like it up 'er.

  • Amazing how cars resembles their makers lol

Asian cars look like Asian people, German cars looks like Germans . Check ford f-150 looks like an average American guy going to walmart . For me Asian cars are for practicality, Europeans are for the style and comfort ,Americans are for performance and no one got it all .

  • Amazing how cars resembles their makers lol

  • no key? ... how to defend against car jackers?

  • This car is good! But american muscle cars is better!!!

  • Boobs 1:49 !!! its funny cause I'm not a liar and your gonna click the time anyways :p

  • @ConfusedShoe -.- its the country, not all countrys have the steering wheel on the left side

  • Haha, gas pumps are going to be the 1.4MiB floppy drive icons for the future cars!.

  • it seems very stark inside, like something from 2001.

    Likey though

  • Great for the car...terrible editing. Check it out redone: youtube.com/watch?v=OpwZbGP4xf4

  • good car nissan

  • Think about it...this car needs to charge! Electricity is generated from power plants running on fuels! And how much power is required for a full charge? How much emission is produced from the power plant for charging the car? Well, unless its charged using solar power or other non-fuel burning means, theres never a true zero-emission car. The emission is "pre-paid" into the atmosphere.

  • @zonghans I believe it still works out better than all the energy required to get oil out of the ground, refine it, transport it and then burn it. but your right we should also be looking at how our power is generated. We can do both over time, drive electric cars, build cleaner power stations.

Many countries run hydro and wind and nuclear

  • The LEAF is the first widely available, relatively affordable electric vehicle. It may not suit everyone's requirements, but it will be more than acceptable for a significant number. This will go a long way toward moving more manufacturers to consider the technology, which will reduce the cost. As technology improves, driving range will also improve. This vehicle could be a catalyst for change in an industry that needs to change. For more info on the LEAF, please check out livingleaf.info

  • Bye, bye primitive, polluting, oil rip-off, wall street robbing, internal combustion engine vehicles!!! Hello, all electric vehicles!!!

  • Nice for city drivers (if they can get a power source in their garage), but I'm not sure that it would be practicle for serious commuters. One-way to work is 47 miles for me, and I know others that have similar drives ... Probably best for more local-based drivers in suburbs than anything. I can only imagine the electic bills in the city if everyone were driving them!

  • @Aylanna16 I would imagine the electric bills would be comparable to the pertol bills, yes?

There are refuelling stations for ipod's, laptops, petrol, gas, water althroughout most major city's and even smaller towns.

Why can't there be recharging stations for Electric cars?

  • @elpadroney Well if you put it that way... lol!

  • @elpadroney No, The lady actually has a key in her pocket that the car knows its in there so it will only start for her, its becoming quite common in cars. I have one in mine!

  • this is the future.

  • emmm now they just need to make it affordable for an average person

  • I like everything minus the looks, why do all the Gap. car makers think that electric/hybrid vehicles need to look like this? When I say like this I mean like small, cheap, like a carolla or a ford fiesta, oh, and a back up motor generator like the volt would be a great addition IMO.

  • E ' staordinaria, ma per arrivare in Italia se nè devono andare Moratti e il Berlusca non è facile.

  • I really want one of these cars

  • I love Japan. They should be the rulers of the entire world. They would never hurt a fly, despite how much we take the piss out of them

  • @CJCymru eventhough they don't know how to drive....BECAUSE THEY ARE ASIANS! =p

  • does it have a key

  • Just electricity? No gas?

  • @NeverMakeVideos nope no gas

  • @NeverMakeVideos 100% electric.

  • Americans probably should not be allowed to have this, just wait Nissan, some stupid Americans will get stuck because they don't charge it, and then they will start frivolous lawsuits

  • it runs so quietly!

  • WOW ! A car for 2010 and 2020 !! It´s about time !!

  • he i am ying and the camera man is yang!!!

  • Affordable??? Affordable to who? what is the warrenty on the 48 batteries?

I guess it is affordable to those who can buy gas no matter what gas cost. Nice looking car for those who can afford it. But it will never affect the price of oil.

  • @Slims32D

Affordable to most people, moron. It costs $26,000 after the federal tax credit and the batteries have a warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles.

Do some research before you post stupid shit and make yourself look like a fool.

  • Yeah ok, Great! What is the top end speed?

  • I Hope the range on these get better... 100 miles on a single charge is not too bad and for $3 that is great news. F the oil industry. Hook this up to a solar panel and free fuel for the life of the batteries.

  • @2006RL the leaf is just the first, mercedes is working on a car that have over 200 mile range

  • @2006RL Zinc Air battery technology is very promising, and will triple the range of any electric vehicle using Lithium Ion at half the cost. It is still about 5 years out though. Imagine, a car like the Leaf would get over 300 miles per charge on those batteries.

  • lol car

The New Nissan Vacuum Cleaner - Drives Too.

To Disable Advertisements, just break them. This should do the trick.

  • @BUBLOOGABLOO What do you mean break them? and what will do the trick?

  • @1320carlover Disable and break. Do the trick as in Disable. Disabilty usually happens when something is brocken right?

  • @BUBLOOGABLOO i dont understan? disable advertisements? break what? what trick?

  • @Lustymessiah Break the advertisement. I know it don't make sense but thats what I meant. It then becomes diabled.

  • damn look at the dashboard it looks like a frickin plane cockpit, also cool startup very nice

  • i gotta say it looks better than the prius

  • Its the size of a damn HOUSE. I think the technology is astonishing...but for it being a 5 door hatch, its massive

  • by American standards, the size is pretty normal.

  • bravo nissan

  • exactly @nameis12396 the cadillac converj concept is just a concept... this is a Full production Car...

  • You have to remember something though, it's a GM, it WILL burn your house down.

  • hopefully some parts can be kept off. like the gps.

In my opinion, mechanicle speedometers and sencors take up less to no electricity to use compared to having light givin information.

  • it looks like a fish... LOL

  • yep just like the prius

  • @juxtapos99 Haha yeah, the prius is worse though

  • Nissan advertises that the car will travel ~100 miles on the single charge, it would cost ~$3 to charge and top speed would be 90mph.

The average United States driver travels 29 miles per day and is driving a total of 55 minutes per day. (This is an average vehicle speed of 32 mph.) US Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics

Not bad.... This one looks like a real thing!

  • @hornynyc

Hey can u please explain to me what u mean by "this looks like the real thing".

  • car would be useful in like ny and shit

  • The Leaf will be sold in Europe cause its being built at the Sunderland plant in England. The socket should be univeral for the European market but there was talk of the Americans deciding to have a different socket after the European manufacturers had decided on a univeral one.

  • see I wanna know how fast it goes; I heard it only goes up to like 70. mph which would suck

  • If they made that less than 10 thousand, they would destroy the market. Cheap+never have to buy gas. I'd be all over that (sexually).

  • Is this car going to be offered for sale, and not just on a lease basis? In the past, electric vehicles were on leases and then once the lease was up, the vehicles were crushed. I think that was a huge mistake.

  • 160km with only 24kh/h,

    which means 15kw/h per 100km :)))))))

    Bring it to Europe, Nissan!

  • I saw a girl squatting over a traftic cone last nite, holy crap!

  • @hellodorkk77 Thats hot

  • I am SOOO ready for an electric car! Come on Nissan!! Do the right thing and ban the dealers from jacking up the prices "to reflect fair market value." This car is too important and significant to lose it to overly greedy car dealerships.

BTW, the more units you sell, the more recharging units - that will probably only fit Nissans - will be installed in homes!! Nissan - Think brand loyalty and market share!!

  • Is this a concept or is it going into a mass production?

  • @FlumenSanctiViti It should be mass production. But I wanna know WHEN! I hope my first car will be electric! We have to repair damages our predecessors made.

My dream is to wake up one day and smell the fresh forest air in the middle of the city and barely hear a sound.

  • as early as 2012.

  • Mass production starting REALLY soon! I believe by 2011 you will be able to buy this car at the price of a typical family sedan. I'm expecting 25-27k but you will have to lease the battery. I've heard that's about $90 a month.

  • The car goes 90mph max. What more do you need? (That's around 145 km/h!)

  • Why do all Electric cars have such electric consuming features?! No wonder it has such a limited range.

  • I agree. No electric car will ever replace the instant gratification you get from putting your foot down in a big V8..

  • it will have to

  • this would take for ever to come to North America. Look how long it took for Smart car to come to America. this will be a great City car for gettiing around the city but you will need another car that runs on gas to you can get to work. a person living in Oakland or Berkeley who travel to San Francisco

  • This looks better than I thought it would. As a life long Nissan owner, I'm very proud they are being one of the first car manufacturers making an EV available to consumers. The day it becomes available, I'm getting rid of my Pathfinder and buying this thing.

  • @malloryrtrns gm was first with the ev1

  • Actually they had electric cars back when cars first came out. They were meant for women mostly because you didn't have to crank them heavily to get them started. Jay Lenno has one of them and you can watch him drive it here on youtube.

  • said to be at 90 mph top speed. which is good enough

  • nice car

  • @edstar83 nice but is too slow

  • @lokomsexy Look up Tesla Roadster.

  • It does 140k/h you just can't go faster than that on the roads. It's not a nissan gtr you are buying, its a zero emision vehicule.@lokomsexy

  • 2 things:

    1. Don't call it a tech vid if you do not talk about the tech, nor even bother to open the motor compartment (notice I didn't

    say engine?)

    2. Drive home (ha!) the point that it is quiet by having someone TALK about the tech while the car drives up to them (note to filmaker; make the speaker SAY how quiet the cars are, the point will be lost on too many if you don't, believe me).

I want an e-car. I hope an electric vehicle will be my next personal transportation.

  • cool car, but not very practical. takes way to long to charge and doesn't go far enough on a charge.

  • wow that big ass hand bag definitely needs a trunk! crazy jap chicks...car is cool tho!

  • The leaf is supposed to take 16 hours to fully charge in an average US household. I hope they release an adapter of some sort that could speed up the charge rate.

  • unfortunately the usa has 120v ac outlets not aware of the amperage(i assume 10 amp) Maybe a dryer out let 20amps?or 3 phase? any way you'ld need an electician, and maybe even a mains upgrade for Fast charging.

  • I'm not going to hold my breath that these will ever be produced. I have yet to see one of these "promotional" cars on the dealer lots. I have hope, but not much. Someone just please come out with one of these damn things already!

  • They are being tested CURRENTLY in Tennessee and California. They are planned to go on sale in the US in Q4 2010. They will be produced at a plant in Tennessee.

  • I WANT, I WANT!!!!

    It's the iCar.

  • talk about a quiet car. I didn't hear a thing.

    LOL

  • Nissan ftw!

  • A real hybrid should be electric and fuel cell. Enough with making Exxon execs rich already. The secret society of the rich (Free Masons and those behind the Fed Reserves) are controlling everything!!!!

  • Класс! Лучший авто для города. Интересно, сколько он потребляет киловатт на полную подзарядку от сети 220?

  • da mojno i v rozetku na 220 V i na bistrii zariad v 45 minut

  • Finally, a major manufacturer that has seen the light. All we need now is ITER to work! Electric Car & Nuclear Fusion...it's the future.

  • take a look at bmw hydrogen car runs on water no microwave needed .

  • wrong

  • Yeah, But Hydrogen wil take much longer as we dont have the infrastructurre for it. Electric will be far easier.

  • Rahool - the energy would come from already existing power plants and wouldn't be any worse than adding a microwave to your household.

  • where are we going to get all the electricity to power all the electric cars and our houses ext... hey maybe we can build more nuclear power plants that will solve the problem ? if we try to get it from the wind we want have room for roads because of all the ugly wind mills .

  • your an idiot

  • if thats all you can put together for a reply who is that fucking idiot . ??????

  • you dont deserve an explanation... idiot

  • no man, sin plantas nucleares!!!

Ademas de ser demasiado peligrosas para el ambiente, no ofrecen una fuente efectiva de energia electrica. podemos usar solar panels, the wind power, etc..

  • Finally something that is a real alternative...

  • SOLAR POWER + ELECTRIC CARS = FREEDOM !

  • Very soon "stick-shift" will be a thing of the past. It would soon be "button shift" like the Nissan Leaf EV2010

  • Electric cars have no gears

  • What do they have then?

  • Some have no gears at all. The motor connects directly to the drive axles. Others have a single speed gearbox but there is no gear changing like a combustion car.

  • The motor speed is controlled by an inverter unit, and conects with a single speed gearbox. also the motor privides breaking by energy regeneration, it can regarche batteries or burn the energy with resistences, when the vehicle reaches a certain speed level the friction breaking enters in action (emergency conditions requires full friction breaking). trains have this configuration, i think it could be adapted to cars with no problem.

  • Oh yea. Really nice. I'd rather buy made in Japan product than any other Asian nation( if I had the choice to pick )

  • wow im impressed i like the Interior

TBA i wasn't expecting much but his looks cool

  • I love the center dashboard, it looks so clean.

  • I think the Volt is more practical. But this is interesting.

  • Awesome! A true EV.

  • Comment removed

  • A compact car with better gas mileage than Prius comes onto the market in 2011 from Toyota. The price is 1,500,000〜1,700,000.1リッター40km

  • best interior i have ever seen. very futuristic

  • the gear shift looks like a mouse :D the car looks cool!!

  • If im going to get an electric car, i'd just prefer an electric car, not a car with an electric motor plus a petrol engine and fueltank. It just makes it more complicated and more to go wrong.

At least with an electric car theres no IC engine or exhast pipe.

  • awesome interior but the frame is so ugly, just like the prius =/. -sigh- I guess I'll be buying a volt, it's body is sexy.

  • Believe me, the styling will grown on you, it did on me. The styling on this car is all for aerodynamics, even the headlights are suppose to redirect wind from the side mirrors. Besides, why would you want to get a Chevy Volt that would still use gas. Leaf - 100 miles on one charge, Volt - 40 miles on one charge.
