there was no goal...the rock was his life...he valued it...cause it makes him strong. it represents him and he care for it much more than his lady. however, since it broke in half, he can no longer use it, so he gave the diamond to his lady friend. therefore, ladies love diamond because it goes way back into the ice age where that dude fought monsters and gave diamonds to his speical lady...the rock that he once valued most.

He got kicked out and tried to survive on his own. His only friend was the rock, like Wilson on Castaway. He had to find food and shelter at some point, and he tried to protect the rock, again his only friend, and now his purpose in life.
