except by the wheels and the awful steering wheel, it's one of the nicest rides ever made! I love this car, especially the 71-73's. I had a green 1974, a little bigger and heavier than yours, but with the same 351C-2V!
I am weeping right now. I had a 73 XR-7 Convertible with a 351 W. I miss it so much. I agree with mtfune that you should have shown the sequential turn signal. That is my all-time favorite feature of this beautiful car.
@MiracleMileV8 True. The 1971-1973 were still taken from the Mustang platform where the 1974 1/2-1979 were enlarged to the Gran Torino/Montego platform.
Nice car! I bought my 73 in 1987 when I was 23 yrs old. I loved the sequential tail lights. Unfortunatly the Minnesota winters hadn't been kind to it and the quarters were a bit rusty and the floors had pin holes in em. I had some good times in the ol' girl though. The 351 Cleveland was a great motr...just had a 2 barrel carb though. I also rear ended a truck a week after buying it....bad blindspot...changing lanes...you do the math. Guy I know had all the part to fix it...grill wasnt chp.
I drove the 73' Grand Prix in those days but would not have been dissapointed with the Cougar. I did own a 83' Cougar LS. It had the 302 fuel-injected carb. I think it was only 170hp but let me tell you that the car was optioned nice with power everything and leather bucket seats. It rode smooooth and had sufficient pick up. Got rid of it at 178,000 miles and the oil was clean enough to drink. When running--you could not hear the engine.
NICE!!! Good car/ music video- BUT you forgot one TEENY TINY piece of information -- You did not show us the segmented rear turn signals going off. That is a MUST-SEE with this era of Cougar and other Ford products as well. Still a good job.
Nice video. Not only does your car look good, it sounds great. I would like to know what you are using for your exhaust? I have a 1975 stored at my parent's farm that needs to be restored. I had it in HS. I don't know if it is worth restoring. There are not many around from that year but it is not quite as cool as a 71-73.
this wen cougarz were still beastz now der all shit datz y i take good care of my 2 cougarz i have a 1996 7.3L V8 XR7 and ma baby which is a 1967 8.0L V8
it seems as though cars back then were crafted rather then assembled. this is one of the most beautiful machines i have ever seen. and that sound, even though i only heard it for a few seconds, it sent chills down my spine!
im 17 have a 1977 mercury cougar. has a stock 351. and its a modified nota clevland. im going to be dropping in a blown 429 scj running bout 950 hp. its a pre big car and i hope to god i can drag some bumpper with it. the motor was originaly in a 1969 mach1 so i know its a good motor. the guy took it down the strip put it in the wall and the motor and 4 speen trany was the only thing still useable. it was unfortunate but hey i got a free motor hahahah but there gr8 cars dont underestimate a boat
This is the worst music I have heard in my life.

I personally think that a lot of the 1971-79 Cougars are significantly underrated.

FANTASTIC CAR!!!! Parts of this video were extremely artistic... much better than the walk around with the engine running videos.
This model and the previous Cougar models (and some Camaros) are the best looking US cars... EVER!!!
Bravo!!!
I have some brit sports car videos if you want to look.
