@gnak2 Yeah well, there's a reason guns outgrew swords, but there's also a reason swords never disapeared. A gun is good as long as you've got bullets. A sword is good as long as you can wave your arm.

Nonetheless a gun is an extremely efficient weapon, easy to use and easy to kill with. A sword takes years of training to master. If I had the choice, I'd pick both. But not a katana, I'd pick something easy to use that can cut off limbs. Like a dadao or something.

@doldei ♦ Non-japanese made swords like Paul Chens are illegal to bring into Japan. Nihonto being brought into and out of Japan need to be accompany by official certificates called Torokusho. Nihonto also need to be registered with the dept Japanese Firearms and Swords Law. Machii lives in Japan so he would have a nihonto, not a Paul Chen.

@doldei ♦ I should clarify something. All new or antique shinken (live blade) nihonto must have a certificate called torokusho in Japan. If there is no certificate the sword can be confiscated. Alloy swords don't need torokusho.
