I hate it when police refer to "civilians" as though they themselves are not civilians--they are. Also, where did this notion come from that the police will protect you from danger? They are going to do the paper work and leg work after you're raped, robbed, murdered, or otherwise violated but they aren't going to prevent anything. People need to defend themselves because the police can not (and are not intended to) prevent you from being the victim of a crime.
THE STORE OWNER WILL NOT FACE ANY CRIMINAL CHARGES.HE WAS ACTING IN SELF DEFENSE,WHILE UNDER THREAT OF DEADLY PHYSICAL FORCE TO WIT:ARMED ROBBERY.I DON'T KNOW IF THE PISTOL WAS LICENSED.I WOULD BELIEVE SO BECAUSE HE WAS NOT ARRESTED.YES YOU CAN DEFEND YOUR PERSON OR PROPERTY .
Freakin' news media ALWAYS try to put a "vigilantism" slant on situations where citizens defend themselves with a gun--well, at least in NY and similar places. You'd NEVER see this sort of slant in say, Texas, under identical circumstances. Even the police wouldn't make a determined statement about "full investigations." What's to investigate? It's obvious what happened--unless the thief says something radically to the contrary.
too many libs in NY is why I left and moved to Texas. Self defense is not being a vigilante, it's showing why the second amendment is in the Constitution!
@wharris91941 Are you retarded? Or are you just trying to start sh@t? Or are you one of these people who feel criminals have more rights that law abiding citizens? Please explain your illogic right here on you tube.
I think all elected officials in New York should have their bodyguards disarmed. If the good citizens of New York can't have arms and defend themselves then neither should the government.
sad, sad to know that there are people in buffalo running around in masks carrying shotguns. what did he expect to get? i mean, is it halloween there already? shaun ford is just dumb, stupid if you may, hey, his from buffalo.
I agree. I've watched almost all the videos hosted by TheArmedCitizen and this is the only one that says anything about vigilanteism. I feel sorry for the people of New York that people think defending your life is "taking the law into your own hands."
NY rarely strikes. That is because it takes an arms and a leg to get a CCW permit in that state. I believe it's completely illegal in NYC. What a shame.
u r right, i live in Naples NY (south west) i have my CCW permit, it took a process of, go to the county clerk pay $2 get the application go home get 5 character references that have known u 5 yrs or more the police call them all, get ur fingerprints taken $5 the police and FBI get a copy sign parts of the app. in front of a notary public send it in $130 they call ur boss, significant other, then about a year later u get a letter saying uv been approved and it is $10 to pick it up
"A deli clerk takes the law into his own hands..."
This comment reflects a completely wrong interpretation of the law on self defense, but it is no mere mistake. The reporter who wrote it and the news guy who voiced it are COWARDS and worse. They promote cowardice the way religious believers promote religion. They believe a real man cowers, cries, snivels, and begs for his life while leaving any resistance to government police. Why promote cowardice? Cowards are good liberal voters!
i agree we are not taking the law into our hands we are protecting ourselves cause police can't be there at time this kind of media send the wrong message about concealed carry holders
I live in WNY outside of Buffalo and am a gun owner waiting on my carry permit. The city had several self defense shootings recently where the good guy was considered well within his rights. In NY state you have the right to defend yourself if your life is threatened.
The vigilante comment is just the anti-gun media trying to put the victim in the worst light that they can. The "alledged" robber is a scumbag, pure & simple. The only reason that I'm glad he wasn't killed is the possible negative impact of the victim's psyche. These so called news reporters are a disgrace to their biased profession.
vote for obama!! so he can send that shop keeper to the jail and pay that robber free medical care for his gun wound with tax payer's money like what we do here in new zealand!
Vigilante: a member of a volunteer committee organized to suppress and punish crime summarily (as when the processes of law are viewed as inadequate); broadly : a self-appointed doer of justice
— vig·i·lan·tism \-ˈlan-ˌti-zəm\ noun
How in the world can they even begin to use the word vigilantism in relationship to what happened to this shop keeper.
Like ShowMeState said, if this had happened down south, the cops would've said "good shooting" and called it a day.
After watching several of these types of videos where self defense was used, you can tell the difference in the regions of the country by the reportage. In the south it is way to go good guy. In the north east it is vigilante justice. Sheesh!
I am from BUffalo When did this happen.not to be funny but these days in buffalo it not safe to own your owne business.and it not right to have an illigal gun,but the owner should have the right to protect his self and his place of business.hopefully the robber learned a life long less.dont take what isnt yours becaues sometimes you get way more than you expected and this person should be thankful he left alive.
Questioning if this is vigilante justice? My home state of NY ladies and gentleman. What a piece of crash system we have here.

Kristy Taylor is not so smart...
She felt safe BEFORE the armed robber got shot, but not so much AFTER. A good guy protected himself from the bad guy, and NOW she's scared.
Some folks are truly ignorant.
