Ruby is a good characters in that serie.

I just don't like in serie, they always meet sexual bomb single girl, and they all fall in love with one of the brothers. Honnestly, thats too much. It is like showing they are giving us sex action to hide their lack of imagination.

The blond ruby didnt if i remember and i liked that, thats so rare...

I also regrets the robber girl in season 3, she was a good character too...

Why does it matter who Jared married? That has nothing to do with how good they are at acting. And let's face it, watching the season 4 actor as Ruby was painful. The expressions and dialogue looked and sounded forced, the character's previous characterization disappeared without a trace, and I honestly can't think of a single positive thing she brought to the character, so for me it's no contest. Hell, even the temporary actor who was in the show for one flashback had more personality.

The reason for the unpopularity of many of these female characters doesn't lie with the female fans but in the way these characters are written. The female characters have no depth and the interaction they have with the brothers is cursory, fleeting, and completely uninspired. The focus of the show is on the relationship between the brothers and no energy is put into developing a serious female love interest. Blame the writers, not the audience.

Ruby there had the potential of being a wonderful character but I don't think the next actress lived up to her spirit; not only that, there was a dramatic change in the way she was written. Jo and Anna were the same, writers changing them to fill their roles in every episode, never really building up a personality... even Bobby was almost following this path at some point too. Remember when he was all against exorcising Meg? What the hell?

@jubah It was different because she was working on manipulating Sam. After Dean died, she didn't have work all that hard to convince him to do things her way. That and she was doing all she could to get him addicted to demon blood. You forget that no which actress played her, the end would have been the same. She was manipulating Sam so that he would open the cage and be the vessel for Lucifer.

And I get really tired of hearing people say that fans don't like female characters on this show out of catty jealousy. What a stupid stereotype! And inaccurate to boot. Let me counter your stereotype with another: Women LIKE romance, in movies or books or whatever. To see the object of our desire (if it's a celebrity crush, and not real life) in a romantic or sexual situation is actually quite thrilling. It would be AWESOME to see these guys making out with a little bit more often on screen.

Her (Genevieve's) body is great! And the chemistry between Jared and her during the sex scenes was really hot, but acting wise, I didn't care for her. She didn't capture the scenes the same way this girl did. If Ruby's part consisted only of making out with Sam, brunette Ruby would have been spectacular. No complaints. But it required more and she didn't bring it. End of story.

I watched seasons 1 thru 5, pretty much back to back on dvd. I had no idea about Jared's relationship and eventual marriage to the lady playing dark haired Ruby and wouldn't care about that anyway. When I watched it, I really liked blonde Ruby. I thought, "Finally, the show has a sexy blonde (I like blondes) who can act!" Then the brunette came on next season and I just didn't like her. @ninjacolt15 That's because Jimmy as a vessel never died. Also, lowly demons don't need to have special vessels, unlike the angels.

This is why Ruby could switch bodies without deteriorating and such. Even with Alistair, he had different bodies, but with the angels, they need special vessels..

@Supergreen76 It's not a matter of them not renewing her contract. Ruby was going to go back to Hell, it was written like that from the second they brought her on. But, the demon Ruby couldn't take over the same body. Just like Alastair couldn't have the same body, neither could Meg. I agree, Katie did an amazing job playing Ruby! While I love Genevieve and her version of Ruby, I loved Katie's too.

Don't pick Katie or Genevieve, pick the random blonde chick in the car next to Sam for three minutes of screen time, in the episode when Ruby comes back from her first banishment to Hell. Basically, Genevieve could look like Ruby, but not act like her. Katie could act like her, but not look like her. Its a tie, so I just opt for the random vessel she ditches because Sam told her too :D Problem solved!
