My wife and I like this song a lot; however, the producer had accidentally used the Vietnam Communist Party flag - red flag with yellow star in the video (see 3:06). This is a very BIG mistake. The Boat People were from South Vietnam and represented by the YELLOW with 3 RED STRIPES flag. They risked their life to escape from the Communist Regime. Many thanks to Paul Gross for writing this song, and God bless the boat people.
wow ! These images and lyrics really brought tears to my eyes. I love your info. My dad was once sent to one of those re-education camps and he had a"wonderful" time in his life there with only music, singing and listening many meaningful love and antiwar songs just like this with his fellows ! Thanks for this vid and your great love for Vietnam ! I'm so glad to know it from a non-Vietnamese !
I've never seen such a moving depiction of the ordeal and extremes that the 'Boat People' faced in their attempts to escape from the war!!! I was saddened to read the statistics of their treatment in the Thai camps...something, I was not aware of...As always, you have given me something to think about! 5*
So beautiful,it is very very special to me and my Fiance.

I've just watched the movie, one of the best I've ever seen. It really shows the futility of war.

It took a "Yankee's" heart to be touched by my people's misery to write this wonderful song
It took another "Yankee's" voice to show the love, the compassion to the wretched people that are mine.
I LOVE MY YANKEES!!!
Thank you!!!
Why did I take so long to discover this jewel?

Très Très belle chanson d'amour... !!!

"we are the foam
floating on the vast ocean
we are the dust
wandering in endless space
our cries are lost
in the howling wind "

"We pray for Mankind to be present today!
We pray for Land to stretch its arms to us!
We pray that Hope be given us
TODAY, from any Land! "
