Scottish people can decide for themselves if they want an independent Scotland or not. However we can not hold a referendum on the very survival of our United Kingdom without good reason.

The SNP got 1 more seat than labour with a majority of just 48 votes in the Scottish parliament elections (a parliament which has NO constitutional powers on these matters). Over 60% of the vote and seats went to unionist parties. There for there is no justification for a referendum until a majority vote SNP

Devolution to Scotland is dealt with under the Scotland Act 1998. At any point if needed the UK parliament can repeal that Act bringing an end to devolution to Scotland. Northern Irelands devolution was suspended a few years back because of a failure in the northern ireland parties to get agreement so the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland regained his powers for a period.. If need be that can happen in Scotland although no government would do it unless there was WW3 or something.

I'm sorry TBW, I just don't believe that. Publicly David Cameron may well hugely back the Union, but I doubt he'd choose the Union over his chances of getting the keys to Number 10. Indeed, there was a study done on Westminster Tory candidates - and the overwhelming majority of them weren't really enthusiastic about the Union.

Scotland and England over 300 years ago agreed to join together to create a United Kingdom. To this day the majority of people in Scotland support the union which is why Scotland remains part of the Unied Kingdom which is sovereign.

If the people of Scotland want an independent Scotland so be it, i will respect their right to sovereignty. But at the moment all evidence shows this is not what they want.
