Holy fucking shit. This was the best version of Ice Cap.

And the FM Synthesizer versions of Sonic 3 and Knuckles' music sucked ass in most cases, so that's saying something...

I grew up with this version of Ice Cap as a kid, so it's kind of the one I remember most fondly. Having recently heard the Genesis version, however, I think I love both equally.

The reason why this version of this song came out is because the original creator "michael jackson" had copy right on the song so they changed it to this song.

It needed to have both midi and wave sounds at the same time.

Oh man, okay, glad to know that I wasn't losing it. I played Sonic 3 as part of the Sonic and Knuckles collection for the PC--not the original on the Genesis. So, whenever I tried to find the Icecap song, I'd always go "HUH?", because while I eventually found out that the other version is infinitely more common and known to and by a larger group of people, it wasn't the version that -I- played with. XD Same thing with Launch Base. Thanks a bunch for uploading this, dude! 83 <3

It's hard... Really really hard to believe people think this is better than the Megadrive version. No... Absolutely not, the Megadrive version puts this to shame by a WIDE margin.

This sounds more like a "Park" like stage than Ice Cap in my opinion. Way too upbeat and cheerful.

That's because it isn't. When the Sonic & Knuckles Collection came out for PC, for some weird reason, they changed the music for the last three Sonic 3 zones, as well as Knuckles Theme from Sonic 3. I don't really know why, seeing as all the other music remained the same.

Oddly enough the first time I've played STH 3 was on the PC. I prefer this more goes with the snowy atmosphere. The other one sounds like someone struggling to get through a snow bound land
