Background music with vocals is a lot more popular in Japan than it is in America. (Unless it's One Winged Angel apparently) Otherwise, it seems that people here in the states prefer standalone music. Other than OWA, the only real exception I can find is Bang's FuRinKaZan for it's sheer over-the-topness.
